Now two generations later and the literacy rate as increased from 30% to 98%. We have universal healthcare and most people can afford to send their children to college to further their education.

Do know that the Helghast were normal humans at once, but when they got banned (and ignored) from Vekta and settled on Helghan, they evolved to Helghast.

Short summary:
The game is settled in a time where human started to colonize planets throughout the universe. The first humans that arrived at Vekta were the Helghast. Then the ISA started an assault on the Helghast to claim Vekta.
In that war de Helghast where defeated, the ISA gave them the freedom to leave Vekta. The Helghast then arrived at Helghan and started to rebuild to avenge their defeat.
HELL YES even if they made them good guys later (think Colony Wars Vengeance or something like that?) like Haksha, but one way or the other, Helghast are the only meaningful characters in these games...

@warhammer329 I didn't play kill zone 1, but as I understood it they attacked humans first and we won, afterwards humans made them slaves and they became oppressed so they rebuild their nation and they're just trying to break free from slavery. Do know that the Helghast were normal humans at once, but when they got banned (and ignored) from Vekta and settled on Helghan, they evolved to Helghast.
The Helghast now see themselves as the "perfect" human race.
The nazi's in WWII had similar mentality of being the perfect folk in mind.

Nope, if been reading the storylines of this game and played all installments of it.
Short summary:
The game is settled in a time where human started to colonize planets throughout the universe. The first humans that arrived at Vekta were the Helghast. Then the ISA started an assault on the Helghast to claim Vekta.
In that war de Helghast where defeated, the ISA gave them the freedom to leave Vekta. The Helghast then arrived at Helghan and started to rebuild to avenge their defeat.

By any sense of logic, one cannot consider their actions both correct and evil: the Helghast believed in their leader, their cause, and their definition of justice. A person acting on their own beliefs believes they are doing the right thing. A politician convincing his people to agree with him/her must sway their logic and core of morality, manipulating the view of good/evil

@warhammer329 I didn't play kill zone 1, but as I understood it they attacked humans first and we won, afterwards humans made them slaves and they became oppressed so they rebuild their nation and they're just trying to break free from slavery. But I'm not sure like I said I haven't played the first one. But 2 was the best in my opinion!

Some odd reason this just reminds me of the Universal Century Gundam in a odd way the forced population of space, and colonial rebellions in the original Gundam universe. Visari just makes me think of Gihren Zabi. The Zabi ruled Zeons were the first true space Nazis they did it better than Star War's Empire. hehe

@koolkid21ful The Helghan population was Mutated by the Planet Helghasts radiation, so they couldn't breath normal oxygen. A select few, however weren't mutated as bad who were in turn seen as "special", and allowed to rule.

@koolkid21ful you have to be on the planet for years for the radiation of the planet to affect your body as for why some wear masks and others dont some helghast have evolved and dont need a mask to breathe some even still have there hair but a very small percentage of the helghan pop is evolved helghast. Visari is one of those evolved helghast that doesnt need a mask

@koolkid21ful the radiation affects there lungs but it takes awhile for it to deteriorate the lungs the helghans lived on the planet for years before the radiation took affect on there bodies the ISA just arrived on helghan thus they dont need masks afterall they werent expecting a long campaign on helghan

Helgast image has been taken from the nazi Germany times.. (black uniforms etc). ofc no offense to american ppl. but im sure most of you noticed it by yourselfs.

@TheRedDevilTV ...as for the helgast - brutality is what they where traing in, where failure is hardlly punished, and law is very strict, the vision of vesari himself was nor evil or good it was about setting justice.. revenge etc. on the ISA and retaking that wich was theres, he saw his nation as a victiom of the ISA coldheart calculation (wich concluded only for money not thinking about what tentions it could start) , so if i would chose a side.. i would chose helgast :P ISA is evil! ;P
