Forget about the Civil War.... negroes are still enslaving other negroes. Yahoo news reported during the World Cup 2010 that Singer Jason Mraz went to Africa to "Help end Slavery! look it up!
It had more to do with money then slavery. The North and the Industrial Revolution. You see it was much easier to turn a profit if you were a farmer in the South who owned some Slaves. Much harder to turn a profit if you were in New York paying your workers. Just a good old boy tug a war. Nothing really to do with Slavery. What sounds better we freed the Slaves for Human Rights? Or we freed slavery so we could equal the playing field and make more cash?
Correct Lincoln did get into war not to free the slaves, as so many elementary school children think. He did it to save the union, why? He took an oath to what? "PRESERVE THE UNION". Does that make him a slave lover / Supporter?? Not at all!
chad dumb fuck - no idiot -- your "black"slave owner was half or more white dumb fuck.
Plus idiot - for your fucking information, Jeff Davis RE-enslaved every black person in the South after the war started. That's right dumb fuck -- he issued a proclamation RE-enlsaving every freed black person.
So lets fucking pretend your black slave owner existed dumb fuck - -he was a slave again, per Jeff Davis' order.
where are yall getting facts there were free blacks in the south the largest slave owner in nc was black. only about 20 percent had slaves so no the whole war was not about slavery. the Gettysburg address was to keep Europe from helping the south it did not free a slave the north controlled like in New Orleans. and many were agasnt slavery like lee and jackson but not grant or sherman
i know it man there was a special on tv about it during black history month i think it was and all of the historians were in agreement that lincoln was racist.
The Emancipation Proclamation didn't free any slaves. The 13th amendment ended slavery. The deference between Lincoln and the Confederates was Lincoln wanted to deport the slaves and the south wanted to keep them slaves. Is that much difference?
Todd dumb fuck -- Lincoln did EP and 13tth you fucking idiot.
Lincoln didnt want to deport slaves dumb fuck -- the South was threatening to KILL them if they had to free them. Lincoln was trying to avoid that - take away that excuse.
historians agree that Lincoln has said racist remarks. there was a special about it on history channel. that doesn't mean that he didn't say plenty of good things about blacks too, it just means that he was a politician and politicians will say anything they have to at any given time. you can be selective in what facts you want to believe if you want but the truth is that he has said both racist remarks and pro black remarks. he would have had to because most people back then were racist : (
Lincoln said things to disarm the bigots dumb fuck -- read the NEXT fucking sentence in Lincoln's speeches. He DESTROYED the living shit out of the bigots -- it was a verbal technique to seem to agree with the bigots - then he destroyed them
There were congressmen in the NORTH calling for the EXECUTION of anyone who said slavery had to end for the war to end. YOu got that dumb fuck? Unless you fucking understand that - -like Lincoln did - you dont know shit
Lincoln was a politician --- politicians are known for saying things to pacify and molify people. Yes, Lincoln TALKED about saving the Union -- but he also said ALL of the US would be slave states, or all free. One or the other. ANd he was right -- Dred Scott decision made that inevitable. We forget that now. Lincoln didn't forget that - it was at the center of his being. His ACTIONS were to get rid of slavery. He got 13th AMendment passed, PERSONALLY. He ended slavery. Get over it.
13 passed after his death, the only slaves he freed were in the south delaware, kentuckyand missouri still had slaves at the time of the admen. abe would have freed the slaves maybe but send to to africa or central america he did not want them here
I am writing a research paper on Abraham Lincoln's views of slavery leading to his writing of Emancipation Proclamation. Please write facts, and only facts about how he viewed slavery. (leave your answer on kianz247's channel's comments or message kianz247)
Yes, the Civil War didn't begin as an effort to end slavery... but like Lincoln's view on Blacks changed, so did the reason for the war. Read Lincoln's 2nd Inaugural specah to see how Lincoln felt that a drawn out war, and continued suffering in the North and South was God's will for American's enslavement of Africans. LIncoln is America's Moral Compass.
towards the middle of the war the south agreed to give up slavery if they could compromise but it wasnt slaves that the north cared about it was the union.
Dementia nonsense dumb fuck -- just the opposite. Lincoln offered Southern leaders 400 milloin dollars to free the slaves you fucking idiiot. They rejected it.
I think considering all the things Lincoln said and did over the course of his lifetime, this is almost like taking what he said at a particular point in time out of context, since when he said it, thats what the majority of the people needed to hear at that moment ...that it wasn't just a fight for or against slavery . he couldnt sound like an extremist if he wanted to save the union, even though I believe that he personally wanted an end to slavery. avery extremist view at the time.
You bring up a good point, and I am aware that a quote like this may sometimes be unfair. The point I want to make is that many people believe that the Civil War was fought to free the slaves, and that is simply not the truth. The so-called "freedom" that African-Americans experienced at that time was a by-product of a scheme to weaken and intimidate the south, and I'm just using his words to clear away this historical distortion. I'm glad you posted an comment though.
Blacks became citizens of the United States with the 14th Amendment in 1868. Most whites did not become US citizens until Social Security in 1933. Why? What exactly is the United States?
Also, the right to vote was not granted until 1956! Not much better than slavery-maids worked for my mother and also cared for us 4 children and cooked for $6.00 a day.Poverty was hardly an option-very few opportunities-if anyone would have anything to do with a black person, they faced complete ostracism and might even be found dead. I was there.
It's kind of sickening that there are so many Americans that seem to hate everything that the country was founded apon.
It just feels that everywhere I go, there are so many people who hate religion, hate conservatives, hate the founding fathers, and hate everything else that this country has to do with.
I'm not saying that this video isn't telling the truth, it's just that it seems like Americans are trying to undermind themselves some way.
Truth often hurts-involves disillusionment-painful-but many are having the courage to face the truth today and are willing to stop living in a dreamworld-we can only correct what we are willing to face.
My question is, what is this correcting? So what if he said this? It was common back then for people to think like that. Most whites, north and south did. My point was, it seems like people are actually trying to undermine the United States.
You need to read a greater breadth of what Lincoln wrote. This speech in no way sums up Lincoln's views. It is no secret among historians that Lincoln views on Blacks changed with time... read his second inaugural speech before you jump on a bandwagon, otherwise you're coming off as an uneducated, fool... are you afraid of change? Learn something.
Afraid of change? Absolutely not, and I do want to learn. That's how I accepted that the Civil War wasn't fought over the differing viewpoints on slavery in the first place. Lincoln was an extremely moral man for his time, and people feel that he represents everything good that can exist in our government. Don't think that I don't feel sadness when I read what Lincoln said about blacks. People need to know that he said this, because much of our history is given to us in a skewed form.
youre believing what you want to believe. if bush made those remarks and then a year later said he loves blacks you wouldnt believe him. there is no bandwagon, this is information that few people know because it is kept a secret. people that completely disregard this are on a bandwagon.
No surprise there Lincoln never took sides unless it was necessary because he knew there was more than one way to 'skin a cat' and he wanted to be sure the decision he made was the right one. Got to admire a man like that.

IN fact, in ALabama leaders were saying they were going to have to kill all their slaves if Lincoln freed them.
So - killing the slaves was the South's answer -- or keeping slavery. They didn't think it was possible to live side by side with "niggers".
The Southern leaders were getting their power, pussy, and prestige from slavery - of course they werent going to give tthat free pussy up easily.

Students of economics wouldn't find it hard to see and realise that the abolition of slavery was an economic inevitability.
Look at Europe and tell me if you can name all the monarchs that took the first steps in abolishing serfdom? I can only name 2.
That's because slavery's demise had more to do with economic conditions than with noble idealism.
