  • really my son did the same stuff when he was that age

  • $500? Really. I should tell my brother. He gives his kids' art to people to hang on their fridges. You know, for free.

I'm sorry, but this is not talent. It a baby making messes and parents who are great at making money. I hope he's encouraged to make some real art when he reaches the age of reason. What you have here isn't a prodigy, but a typical baby that likes to paint.

  • i know him hes from isabelle jackson i go to that school and hes mr. villa

  • he just playing with the brush and paint....

  • If i did that Id get a penny for it

  • omghe is soooo goodddd awww. and he is awesome using different paint brushes wow..

  • It must be fun to use a giant paint brush *_*

  • he's better than those christies & sothebys ones!

  • Oh wow he is amazing...how much does people pay for these paintings.....you do sell them right?

  • Laila, thank you! Five hundred each.

  • Keep painting little man- keep painting! I like taking Juicy Juice breaks too after I begin an art project lmao!!! No shame in taking a breather with your favorite juice bottle. :) But easy on the markers, no need for violent movements lol!

  • Ha ha! Great comment! Thanks!

  • villarte-How do YOU determine when one is an artist or not?

when the artist know that he does art!

  • I guess it depends on your definition of an "artist".

    art·ist

NOUN: One, such as a painter, sculptor, or writer, who is able by virtue of imagination and talent or skill to create works of aesthetic value, especially in the fine arts.

How do YOU determine when one is an artist or not?

  • @villarte it doesnt really matter how you define it. its ABSTRACT. in THIS form of art, the kid is extremely talented for his age. whether or not people thinks he knows what hes doing.

  • @ghdude22 Any other one year old could paint like this, I could paint like this but I bet no one would give me 500 for each one I do.

    This is real talent /watch?v=rmm-0-Rdxo8

  • @OFrostO10 You are right, any 1-year-old could paint like this. But that's the point, most 1-year-olds never do! Why is that? I challenge you to find a 1-year-old anywhere who actually produces real paintings. It would also be nice to see you do an abstract painting. Let me know when you do...I would like to see it:)

  • @villarte I bet if more people gave their children paint and brushes then loads of them could produce it. I will not do any abstract painting for you because I think it's a waste of time. I draw... Not abstract drawings.

  • @villarte they dont cause no one makes them :P And by making them i dont mean forcing them... simply encouraging them does the trick. Of course not all 1yos would want to... but this is certainly nothing special

  • he paints like any other little kid would. He's not an artest he's a child who likes paint.

  • woah, i want a kid like this.

when i grow up and have kids all their gunna do is sit around and paint all day.

    haha

  • such an amazing little artist! he looks like he is having fun. maybe he'll be famous one day! i should get a signed painting just in case! :)

  • You can definitely tell he has an eye for line colour and composition. :]

  • This is why abstract art is a joke. Cute kid though that's for sure.

  • Can every1 jst shut up n let these kids paint! Lets not forget they r jst children with very proud parents! Im a mother and i do my best to show off my kids talents, who dosent? They are amazin n have a certain mystery about them! So jst have faith. Also if a 2 yr old wants to paint n people want to buy them. Let them. Whos business is it? Id buy 1 jst for my sons inspiration! X x

  • Obviously the people attacking this young boy's work don't know much about abstract painting. Yes, he's young and may be just playing with colors, but that's what an artist DOES. I dare anyone to go into an art gallery that shows abstract art, and not find something that they feel 'they could have done' selling for $1500+. Everyone 'thinks' they're an artist, but they don't get out and paint. This boy has talent and I hope he makes millions!

  • About playing with colors...that is such a great point! So often, art is experimental. Thank you!

  • I'm not going to defend or jump on the offensive on his young buy. I know that abstract painting is as much about the conceptual as it is the physical. What do you think this boys conceptual process was when executing this painting? -Fin

  • See his work ACTUALLY looks like a 2 year old made it, where as Marla's is much more advanced.

  • Actually, Cameron was only 1 when he painted the ones in the video. His new work goes on display this Saturday. He sold a painting already from his new work for $500. Read the website article: egcitizen

Also, remember that it appears that Marla's father has put the finishing touches on all her paintings. That's one reason they look so advanced.

  • Is this a parody of My Kid Could Paint that?

  • Nope, this kid is for real. But much younger than Marla Olmstead when she first started paiting. He has over 30 new paintings that will be on display next month when he has his 2nd art show/reception.

  • Well I'm almost 23 and I haven't had a show yet I really don't understand it. Are they buying because of the art or because it's a 2 year old?

  • Good question! But there are actually lots of reasons why people buy his work. Yes, sometimes people get hooked because he is so young. Others just like the colors, size, shapes, etc. Sometimes it's the name, as Cameron comes from a family of artist and who's grandfather is a well-known painter/muralist and CSUS professor emeritus. I paint too!

  • I had seen some Art in the Art institute, Chicago. One was a big blank canvas with some scribbles with pencil. Scribbles means scribblies and another with just vertical stripes in different colour. The child has doen a much better job than that so called artist !

  • Thanks! Wait till you see his new stuff, he's having his 2nd art show this June. He's 2 1/2 now. I'll have some more video of him at work soon.

  • ok the paintings your son made do look good but he didnt put any thought or emotion into it.. for christs sake hes not even 2 here.... hes not an artist hes just a kid doing wat kids do and thats scribling.. and just because someone doesnt see the artwork doesnt mean that that artist never existed if a tree falls and no one is around to see it it doenst mean the tree didnt fall. look its ok to be proud of ur child but its nothing special nore is it talent, he just threw paint on a canvas the end

  • Again, I never said my son had talent. And if you really want to know more about throwing paint on a canvas, I highly recommend you do an online search for Jackson Pollack. He was a master of throwing paint and one of his paintings sold for 140 million dollars in 2006.

  • yea i know him and his work and it has emotion and says something... but your son's paintings dont have emotion cause he couldnt have put their since he doesnt understand it yet....

  • I gonna have to disagree with you when you say toddlers don't have emotions. They have quite a bit of emotion. When my son paints, he is very happy to be doing it. He is exploring, experimenting, learning, creating. His face lights up when he discovers something new...or he rushes to finish when he rather be riding his bike, etc. So while it is not the complex emotions that adult humans have, it is still emotions that toddlers have.

  • yes since u are an artist you should understand that just being happy while painting isnt putting emotion into thepainting of course he has emotions but hes not putting them into the art itself when i was 7 and i was playing guitar i couldnt put emotion into it cause i didnt quite understand how now im 15 and i understand that emotion is more than just bending a note or playing at different tempos as with painting he doesnt know wat hes doing its random un-planned or in lamens terms "no emotion"

  • Again, how many millions would a Picasso painting be worth now, knowing that it had been painted when he was only two?

  • thats only because of what he did during his older years.... his paintings are worth that much because of his adult work... its worth money cause thats a painting when he wasnt as good or still learning... if he had never done any of his famous paintings and just did a painting when he was 2 itd be scrap...

  • So now we have to wait and see what my son is doing when he is an adult, right? And if he turns out to be a pretty good artist, then I would be smart by allowing him to paint now, right?

  • yea exaclty.... but untill he becomes and adult and is reconised for his work, his current art isnt worth crap.... that is to say if he becomes good.. he can be reconised as a horrible artist too.....

  • Well, my son's gonna have plenty of support if he chooses to continue his art. An artist myself, my large paintings sell for $4000 apiece. My father sells small portraits for $10,000. each. Do a google search for Esteban Villa if you want to know more about my father and the work he's done for 70+ years.

  • will do....

  • right on for being an artistic inspiration to your son. I think capturing a the imagination of a young mind is important. I feel that children's "scribbles"/art, is genuine and honest. Its fascinating to see how they work.

  • Well put! Thank you.

  • Yeah okay so... it's a scribble?

No offence but i dont think this is talent just a kid doing what kids do and a proud parent posting it on youtube/interent.

Forgive me but don't all kids do "absract art" when their 1-6?

  • Thanks for your comments. Yeah, art is always up for interpretation. If you see "scribble" then it's scribble. If you see art, then it's art. Some people see color, form, line, texture, etc. And then some people go beyond seeing; they FEEL art. It makes them feel happy, sad, excited, warm, cool, and so on. I never said it was talent. All I said was that he is young and he is an artist. How popular he becomes is yet to be determined. How much would a Picasso painting go for painted at age 2?

  • your son is a Do-er

  • the difference in this argument i think is that, some DO and some just SAY.

  • i dont get art but i bet thats good

  • good hand control!

  • cool

  • A True ARTIST.

  • i can do that too....jk,good work!

  • all children's art is abstract. have you ever seen a toddler's artwork that resembles anything? thats whys its called abstract!

  • Lulz why would you make an exhibit for something that belongs on the fridge? ALL CHILDREN paint/color this way... at least until they become dexterous and can put what they really intended down.....

  • I bet if you owned a painting that Picasso painted when he was only 18 months old, you wouldn't have made that comment:)

  • i doubt Picasso had a perent that pushed him even at 18 months old to paint, bet it just came naturaly...

  • Exactly what do you mean when you say "pushed"? I don't push my son. I am an artist too. This all started because he saw me painting in the garage one day and "naturally" wanted to do it too. I'm just a model how to paint and if he wants to do it, fine, if he doesn't, then we go play with his trains and cars. Sometimes he only paints for 1 minute and then wants to leave and do something else. And that's fine. But thanks for your comment.

  • im not gonna lie... abstract art is cool looking but it is often just splatter and random... so not too extraordinary but it looks like he likes it so keep it up

  • My brother is 18 months and he can do that too. Same with my brother before him, my sister before that, and so on. It's really nothing special, you're just glorifying it.

  • Yeah, a lot of people say that their little brother or sister can do that too, but they can't show that they do. It would be a safe bet that you will never be able to show us what your siblings have done. But if you can, I would love to see it! See the difference between an artist and your siblings? Artist paint and preserve their work, your siblings don't!

  • Actually it's creative expression that makes an artist, not mere preservation. You can give a monkey paint and a stretched canvas; and a skilled artist crayons and construction paper and the artist will produce stronger work. I do like many abstract expressionists, but it's a genre that merits scrutiny; people can get meaning from most anything, communicating a message/emotion intentionally through the peice is what counts... but I digress

  • Creative expression is important. But are you suggesting that a toddler, say 18 months old, is like a monkey? I'll have to differ with you on that one. Again though, if a toddler or adult never saves, protects, and preserves his art, then it will never be seen and the artist will never have existed.

  • No, an 18 year old isn't a monkey. However, compared to a well trained artist, they really don't have the physical or artistic dexterity to transmit emotion through their work. Emotion might be put into it, and onlookers can be moved by it, but it's the beauty of intricacy; rather then successful artistic expression that gets through... at least in the wee folk I've come to know, I don't claim to be an expert...

  • Now that is an artist in the making. He can truly say "I've been painting since I was a child." Thats great!

  • You actually see that as art?

Anybody can throw paint splotches on a canvas!

  • Yeah, a lot of people say that, but those same exact people are the ones that NEVER in their entire lives "throw down a bunch of paint splotches". And it would be a safe bet that YOU will NEVER, in your entire life, throw down a bunch of paint splotched either. See the difference between an artist and YOU? Artist paint, you don't!

  • Blackwater"designs" im sry u just got ownt...!! >.>

  • Aww... how cute!

  • i love this baby so much!!!!!!!
