  • A Proper Wellington? No, bit by half. This is a scam dish, and not the Real Deal at all. James Beard is spinning like a Top at this being called a Wellington of Beef, because this is the 'Over-Priced, Trendy Restaurant Rip Off' Wellington...it is not THE Beef Wellington at all. Its just not.

  • Looks a lot better than his scrambled eggs. A little too bloody, though. I like my beef hot, pink, and no blood. (You immature ones don't need to reply about other things in life that are good that way)

  • @fall22123 It's not blood, it's water. The myoglobin in the muscle turns the water red. The reason you can see so much of the water is because he cut the roast right after taking it out so the camera could get the shot, rather than letting it rest.

  • @manifist0 The meat isnt raw. Beef Wellington is traditionally serverd medium rare, or if your a crappy cook like me, then as close to it as you can get. :D

  • @manifist0 IT is not raw. It is medium rare. Some cuts of meat, specially lean ones like filet mignon, will loose all its appeal if you overcook it. IT will taste like cardboard if you cook it well done, believe me. It is tender like butter if you keep if medium rare.

    Plus, Gordon was really hard on Dave because he spent a really long time perfecting this recipe and he thought it was really arrogant to do for a dish that you could choose anything else for.

If you are doing it at home, and I hope you do because it is honestly not hard. Please take the time to get a proper Recipe, because a Beef Wellington without Foie Gras, or at least a good Pate just ain't beef wellington at all, but a glorified overly priced meat pie.

  • @Karlfalcon I dunno man, I agree with MRidleyX, if you watch shows like the F word and stuff, Gordon's eyes are always such an intense shade of blue they seem to be glowing (even more than his usual intense shade of blue). There is definately some post-production saturation or color levels work going on in these videos.

  • @olive350 Of you watch Ramsay's tv shows you see that first he tells them to "step up their game" because it is not that good, and then afterwards he gives them advice on how to become better chefs or a better restaurant.

  • @olive350 1 after the first season of hell's kitchen people really should know what they sign up for. 2 those resturants he visits have a real risk of giving people food poisoning. He can't fix that with kind words alone. 3 some of these young folks have no realisazion of their abilities or the lack thereof, someone needs to tell them how things really are. Some can take it, But if they cant cope with that, how are they goint to be able to cope with the preasure in a real resturant.
