  • would it be a bad idea if you move pawn to e5 at 5:50?

  • at 6:00, instead of playing e6, why can't black play an immediate Qb6?

  • This video is so for amateurs...beginners...13:12 ..."The queen can now come to h5, attacking the king on e1". Dam'n you dumbfuck, its e8...you should be an amateur too...good players do not make these mistakes. But... your ideology about the moves is just incorrect or explained in a dumb way. Make something better, will you?

  • @ps3notes you are so many levels of stupid I don't know where to begin. Have you ever tried commentating on something in your life? Sometimes you think one thing and say another, so go wash the sand out of your vag and get over it.

  • @ps3notes Hey retard good job picking on a mistake! what is the deal with the"..." you wirte like a complete idiot.

  • I'm kind of a chess newbie... can someone explain to me the pawn to a6 move at the beginning? Is it simply to get ready to a pawn to b5 or is there something else behind it?

  • @mombus nevermind... should have watched on further : /

  • very gud video i subsribe you

  • i enjoy all of your videos..great insight ! thnx :)

  • I thought this was an excellent teaching video! Very clear explanations of why certain moves are played. I am helping my 4-year-old grandson learn chess, and the "poisoned pawn" variation is what we have been working on. Of course he only plays it by rote, but I figure that is a good way to work toward an intuitive grasp of the board. I am learning a lot by teaching him, as well!

  • @MrClosercloser lol u poor, mildly retarded bitch boy...resorting to school yard retorts because you dont have the ammo to come up with anything more high brow. Seriously....take your sad, beaten pride, and shove off.

  • Great video

  • "He was pretty good at chess" That made me laugh

  • @Madderhatter85 "Grow a fucking sack you pissy little bitch boy" oh i see...i met internet troll... Hi internet troll

  • Comment removed

  • what happens if 6...Nbd7?

  • great commentary and explanation.

  • And Queens gambit, Sicilian which is all I watched as well as traps, other openings, strategy, tactics, etc.

  • Favorite openings Slav,KID,

  • @MrClosercloser

    'Genious', oh the irony

  • Hey Kevin. I went so far away from the game I was so mad about. Thanks to you videos. I'm getting back on track and can't imagine a day without playin a game or two.

  • 13:36

Please tell me why the bishop went to B5? I can understand that it opens some possibilities for white, like the castle, but why so far? He can as well go to e2, or d3, avoiding losing material for nothing

  • a6? Is this one of the most respected moves in the chess?

You sound very funny on that :))

Keep up the good work :)

  • I really appreciate your guidance via commentary on the various matches you uploaded, I've learned so much from your vids. Keep up the good work

    :)

  • Can black try at 19:40 to capture white's knight on b3 and if white recapture then take white's pawn on a4 and white's queen side is no longer safe for the king to castle???

  • Too bad they don't teach this at school, it would be much more valuable than let's say art. You can draw anywhere or go to artschool... and it doesn't boost the brain as much as chess.

  • Thanks for the video I wish something about scheveningen variation, good analisis

  • 8:08...Nd7 seems pretty iffy for me and black ends up loosing plenty of space advantage... white seems so much more better off in this position.

  • you have some of the best chess lessons on the internet even compared to payed lessons and yours are free! keep up the posts! Your awesome Kevin!

  • at about 14:30, instead of Rh7, why not Ne5? It protects the F7 square and puts the Knight into play. If after that on the next move you play Rh7, you now have two pieces defending the square and your Knight is again more involved. Maybe that's the 3rd move in the series anyways, Rh7, then eventually capture the Bishop with the pawn, then Ne5?

BTW I've played chess for 18 years, and feel like I've learned more in the past week watching your vids than the whole entire time. Keep 'em comin'.

  • @MrAndersonmm ne5 loses to bg3 thats the point of bb5 so that the other knight can't come to support hte e5 square.

  • Kasparov is not only a phenomenal chess player, but his political activities are interesting too. He is great for chess. And F Deep Blue! I hate those IBM nerds

  • at 7:95 why do not e5 and then bg4???

  • @MrClosercloser comedic sarcasm ftw? i'm either getting leveled by this comment or you take every word you hear way too seriously. I hope the former holds true.

  • @MrClosercloser that's called irony

  • kevin you are the man. thank you for all your videos. it has drastically improved my chess game. thank you very much, keep them coming. i would like to see more on the italian game if you get around to it. thanks again!

  • In every chess tournament that I played, I was using some of the variations of Sicilian defense.

Is there any chance to see Kan or Scheveningen variation of Sicilian defense, because I prefer to play pawn to e6, instead of d6.

    1. e4, c5

    2. Nf3, e6... etc.

By the way, I really like your videos, and I hope you help me to study these variation.

  • awesome video, excellent narration, very intuitive

  • awesome video, excellent narration, very intuitive

  • This was a good video, by someone who clearly has solid game theory. You should give Poker a try, something you can actually make money doing!

  • @SavageBillahx2 I actually played poker professionally for 4 years :)

  • @thechesswebsite I've only been doing it for 2 years "professionally", but I love it. Where did you play?

  • @thechesswebsite I hear Allen Cunningham is a avid and very good chess player.

  • @thechesswebsite

    why had you stopped?

  • @SavageBillahx2

lol I thought about poker too :D. Kevin sounds like the guys from cardrunners, and he uses some poker lingo as well. Like mixing up your game and stuff ;).

  • @SavageBillahx2 are you kidding me?! You obviously don't have any idea what you are talking about. The two reasons people choose to play chess are 1) the money and 2) the women! duh! :) ok ok no I'm not surprised that Kevin was a pro poker player at all haha

  • Since when can you castle on the queens side? Do clarify.

  • OH, MY GOD! After finding this legendary defense here on Youtube I really believe that you can find ANYTHING on Internet!

    Thanks for posting! :o)

  • Awesome video.I was looking forward to playing the najdorf defense at my next tournament..... and this vidoe really gave me wings!.Thanks man u r the best!

  • "Hello everyone, this is Kevin from 'The Chess Website', and today were gonna be going over..." -- Everytime you here this in a youtube video you know you're about to get schooled.

  • @thechesswebsite thank you verry much you are so funny... a6? is the really the most respected line.. really good humor

  • LOL 17:55 "Weaksauce"

  • Love your videos guys, just want your opinion, is it a terrible idea to play a6 and then still fianchetto your bishop on the kings side dragon style? I prefer playing the najdorf variation but I also like having the bishop on f7. What is the theory behind not traditionally doing that?

  • i like the ruy lopez

  • 3 people like backgammon more.

  • Great videos Kevin, I hope you keep teaching us like this.

  • OK well i suck at chest but now because of your videos i can finally beat my grandpa

  • You are the greatest

  • I wish I would have watched this video before I got into a 16 player Sicilian Najdorf all play all tournament!

  • thanks for this. i got to use this in a game today and it was the most exciting game ive had. lots of fireworks.

  • @thechesswebsite PLEASE DO <3 ILY!!

  • Thank you so much for posting these videos here and on your website Kevin, it is really appreciated. I think these are the best, most instructive chess videos on the web. I'm really happy that you are showing the various Sicilian variations, as I am having a real hard time playing from black lately.

  • could you do your next video on an opening that starts with D4? (preferably Nimzo Indian, Queens Indian or Slav for me :D)

  • weak sauce lol

  • Ok I have a big question for you Kevin. How often that I play the defense c7-c5 will the opponent actually respond in that fashion to reach the typical sicilian defense? I'm asking because I've already played in one tourney and whenever I use the sicilian I've never seen anyone play like that where they push forward with their d2-d4 pawn.

  • @InvaderPOE665 thats the main line, look up chess games database (something like that) in google and you'll see that the majority of Sicilian games are played like that (at the top level). It really depends who you're playing with though, The thing is that a lot of people dont like getting into the open sicilian because its so crazy.

  • I hope to see a video soon on the classical variation of the Sicilian Defense. I unfortunatly had to play against it recently and i got rocked

  • My father always plays the Najdorf against me when I play my favorite move e4, and I've hardly ever beaten him when he plays it. But I think I'll have a descent chance now; thanks Kevin!

  • How's the wife's cupcake business ;)

  • Why not Bg5 e5 instead of Bg5 e6 in the old main line?

  • Could you do a video about the Colle System? I would like to study more the Colle System.

  • Do more famous games. Opening are great, but I find the famous games more interesting.

  • wow at fisrt black looked s o l

  • I'm glad I watched this. I don't really have much time for chess, what with college and writing, but maybe one day I can get back in. I'll have to start checking out the website again, too!

  • Najdorf is a great defense. I'm generally a C-K player, but sometimes I'm feeling aggressive and Najdorf gives me a lot of fun options.

  • just a thought but maby you should have a wuick gm game about the nasjdorf after the video or if you are working with another opining have a game of that to show how each side does what they want to. but great video

  • at 15:32 why not (for white) do Rf1? if you swing the rook over they can capture w/ thw queen and checkmate black. What then? and can you do an in depth video on the french defense? Thanks

  • kudos on your better pronunciation - it still sounds a bit forced, but a definite improvement over previous. :)

  • said the same thing for the dragon variation.

I've waited a long time for this video. =-D

    Love the Sicilian Defense.

    BTW misspelled in title!!!

  • At last, a Najdorf video! I have played this variation since I stumbled upon some of the Fischer-Spassky matches from 1972, a few years ago (they really enjoyed that Poisoned Pawn!). In tournaments, I have not been very successful with it, but I hope I will get better after watching this video! ;)

  • 18:02 wouldn't it be better for black to play b6, making the b3 knight unable ti move foreward?

  • Comment removed

  • nice

  • Nicely done. Great introduction to the Najdorf. Thanks a bunch!

  • nice video

  • Thanks Kevin, Sicilian defense is my favorite opening, most of the main moves are the same. please could you talk about a variation when castling in Queen side as black. sometimes if white forced me Not to castle in the king side.

  • i admire ur tutor video,it helps me a lot.

  • There is a great article in a recent New Chess Magazine ...It's title is something like "Dismantling the Sicilian" [2009? I think].

    Another good vid. Thanks!
