I've never played with David (and probably won't, unless he sees the light and turns to bluegrass), but I have had the pleasure of playing with Tommy at the Walnut Valley Festival, home of the National Flatpicking Championships as well as the International Fingerstyle Championships. David's great at what he does - but Tommy is a great guitarist. As Chet said, "Certified Guitar Player". David was NOT in the list of four that Chet named. 'Nuff said.

Its like a old indian tribe thing when they go through Initiation and the child becomes a man over time with challenges that he must face and tthe fears and animals he will face. I was very lucky to see him on Saturday (5th) at Bristol UK and he performed this. All I can say is WOW the sound engulfs you and takes you to another world. I laughed as he turned up his amp and said "god it goes to 11"!!! then afterwards "better turn the amp off DESTROY mode" hahaha

I've ben personal friends with Tommy for about 8 years, and when I asked him why he didn't play Initiation at his last show I went to, he said he has played it at almost every show for 10 years and is just tired of it. He may play it, but it is unlikely.

There are no big tabs needed. The main theme is just an E minor played like 079987 and D6/E (my opinion of the name) played like 077777. You hold the fingers over the 7th fret and hammer on the 998 out of 777. That´s it :) and a huge echo of course

Tommy is the Best! I don't know if people outside of Australia know the background to the song's base, but it tries to replicate an Aboriginal "dreamtime" atmosphere with their music and the noises of the outback.
