so what's your point, man in this video? if you think all your said is correct and real why should you promote the so-called "threat of new emerging power"? The world is just like a huge game, all the developed countries have their spots while controling the space for the new emerging because you are afraid of more players join in the game leaving less profits for you guys to share.. do you think it is fair for the developing countries? We have to catch up despite some domestic problems!
dumbass french people. too bad your economy's also fallign apart and germany's the only EU country growing, maybe its about time the owned you again. everything you said was retarded, i'm not even gonna address your idiocy because you judge the power of countries based on whether or not you like their government systems
Ive never noticed that before. The US has now surrounded Iran with deployments and alies. Hmmm, maybe a few yrs ago they decided to politically take Iran's resources. It wouldnt be hard, the country has a fragile gov't, plus it's about to collapse.
I really like this reporter because the videos that this reporter make - when I understand the context fully - are very engaging. But I'm always confused with ones that I have no context of. I think he's not reporting this to us citizens but giving insights to someone from higher up the political ladder.
I read some of the comments here on youtube and it's obvious you guys don't know what he's trying to get at either.
Why is this titled as pt3? I Cannot find pts 1 or 2. The Real News needs to do a better job getting their stories out to the public. This sort of mislabeling happens all the time.
No offense, but it's real simple if you put some effort into it:
Go to therealnews[dot]com and search "Pepe Escobar" and you will see Pt1 & Pt2 with the sub-headline "Pepe Escobar revisits the New Great Game"; it's a continuation of the conversation/commentary which began as "Iran/Russia - a deadly embrace".
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad must be just shaking in his boots right now after a Eldorado Island blowhard stated UK troops would be occupying Afghanistan with a whopping 9000 troops for 40 years.
The question one has to ask about all of this occupation, such as in Iraq, for example, is whether the people there, after all that has happened, are more or less open to the idea of Chinese or even, Russian, domination of their pipelines than they were under their executed leader, Sadaam Hussein?
"When one sees an Islamic Republic which is in fact a militarized theocracy, and a popular republic that is in fact a capitalist oligarchy, things are not what they same to be."
Right on Pepe!
You can add to that list: a federal constitutional republic that is actually a corporatocracy (the United States of America).
China almost became a great power. But, unfortunately, our bubble American economy is exploded. We have no more money to send overseas, save that they force from us, by, well, force. We will start a new economy-just not yet. So, everyone who relied on our purchases is in a very bad position. But those who rely on our spirit and recovery-are quite appropriate!!
We aren't their only market, they also have a huge domestic market that is almost twice as big as our country's population, not to mention exports to the rest of Asia, where the economies are surging upwards.. Their controlled capitalist economy is doing infinitely better than our free liberal one, their economy is still growing at over 8% while we are in a depression. By this rate their economy would dwarf ours in only a decade or so.
what a rubbish!!

That was the explicit plan drawn up in 1992, proposed to Clinton in 1999, and executed by Bush in 2001.

no one can occupy Afghanistan . they can stay and fight for ever but not occupy !!

In theory, if they do hate the idea, they now have a greater ability to protest against it then they did under Saddam.
But theories like those are what led us into the Iraq war in the first place, wasn't it?
