Actually this puzzle has been recently mass produced. I made mine in early 2008 before there was even any word of a mass produced rhombic dodecahedron
not to double post, but to double post... yours is a perfection. mine just looks suckish when i compare it to yours.. but mine isnt functional and has no stickers, and isnt painted, cuz its still in its filling and extending stages :s
How did you make the pieces, did you mold the plastic yourself? Or did you just mod a 3x3? Is a 3x3 core used? How did you get the appropriate sticker sizes?
For the plastic a filled 3x3 pieces and truncated. As for the stickers, i cut a piece of thin cardboard to act as a template. I then traced this shape onto vinyl, cut it out, and rounded the corners.
For a second mod, this looks incredible. How did you ever gain so much experience? I just finished my first mod, a 4x4 cylinder, and it does not even look half as good.
I constantly read topics about how to build good quality puzzles. Just make sure you have the proper materials and take your time on sanding. Also, if something doesn't look right, either fix it or re-do it.

i thought the triangular pieces (not the centers) were the edges... got scared, thought i was making it wrong :D

I painted the pieces with black Krylon Fusion paint and then stickered over the paint.

ok, go to walmart, buy a 3x3, then cut down the edges, build up the centers and corners and voila (its hard to explain with a text comment
