  • killer stuff man...what string gauge do you use?...do you think the gauge affects the tone and clarity when you are sweep picking?

  • @ameyapadhye7

i use 9's, personally i cannot sweep that comfortable with other gauge

  • ziras can u do a video that just shows the height of the action on ur guitar, i really wanna see what action does the guitar of a pro like u is at, that wud be tons of help, thanks - Alex (india)

  • @beginnersmessiah

you don't really need a video for that

my action is the lowest possible

this depends on what guitar you have

generally the very low action helps me to sweep smoother

  • Aliens...

  • sweeps coming out of my nutsack

  • Wow man. This is my favorite video of yours by far. So fluid and clean. ...and those shreddy scale runs with the sweeps...so nice. It was a pleasure and inspiration to watch. Take care theodore.

  • You´re my new second idol !!! You´re a god in guitar

but my biggest idol is Chris Storey

  • Damn good dude! Keep it up.

  • omfg this is absolutely insane !

    1:04 !!!!!!

  • @CaptainChainsawChan Cont. combines various scales and their inversions; this comes from his theory knowledge, great phrasing skills, and great aural skills. Lessons from a good teacher, or DVDs from a guy like him, can be extremely valuable in learning (and most importantly) applying theory. Hope this helps, and if I'm wrong, somebody please point it out.

  • @CaptainChainsawChan As far as the notes he's playing, you'll need to look up the different inversions for major and minor online. There are three inversions for major and three for minor, from what I know. I would look up inversions (from a simple source, as the theory behind it is fairly complex. You just need the basic three inversion arpeggio shapes for normal maj and min). He combines different, but defined, shapes. You can look them up. The creativity aspect is how and why he combines var

  • @NWONoWorldOrderNWO I'm no naturally talented person on guitar, first off. Either way, I started sweeping a year and three months ago. I can now sweep very good. I don't even practice 2-4 hours a day. Sometimes I'll play four hours in a day, but on many days I get in only a half hour to an hour. They key is doing it every single day (I missed maybe three days in that time period). If you practice sweeping (using good information you've learned on the subject) for even just ten minutes a day, yo

  • his picking is more impressive to me. once you get sweeping down, as hard as it is to do it this well, it's at least possible. to me, his picking just isn't possible for me to achieve.

  • absolutely flawless sweeping

  • in the beginning it sounded like he said "welcome to my shit picking video"

  • @whoahesgood you read my mind

  • that's awesome, it reminds me of Jason Becker

  • your hands look so effortless, amazing

  • u re amazing!

  • You are my inspiration! for now on every thing I do on guitar will be thanks to you! you I promise some day I will be alomst as good as you.... thank you Theodore!

  • Beautiful

  • this is incredible

  • Man, I can only dream of playing this fluid.

  • @NWONoWorldOrderNWO actually, it takes not so long time. practice about 2-4 hours a day (and by practice, i mean practice, not playing songs you already can play) and you will be able to play like that in about 2-4 years. might take 1 year of you ONLY practice sweeping, but i do recommend practicing everything, so you wont lack at something while you are good and something else. good luck practicing ! :)

  • @stebbZv thanks for the moral boost, I just got my 2203 full stack back from the shop, retub'ed and biased with new pre amp and power tubes. Gonna restring my LP with some new strings Stomp on my Tubescreamer and play!

  • Very clean. Nice work!

  • HOLY MOTHER OF JESUS...

  • HEY TEDDY!!! how do you link the arpeggios together in the beginning of the vid the seem to go down in a certin direction and come back up in a different on. how are you doing that?

  • @ritehand1

i am playing inversions of Dmin Fmaj and Gmaj arpeggios

  • Please make a tutorial how to play THIS step by step!!! and how many notes per string are there the most?

  • @GasaTrans08

this video is a promo trailer from the DVD

you can play as many notes per string you like

  • Hey Theodore great video! I was just wondering how long it took you to play sweeps like this I've been practicing several patterns for about 3 months now and they're no where near as accurate or sound as nice as yours.

  • @Wigglylol

it took me around 5 years

  • sounds like Jason Becker... LOVE IT !!!

  • EXCELLENT!!!!! ROCK ON!!!!!

  • Sounds a little bit like Jason Becker's Altitudes... Probably because of the progression. Awesome!

  • do you use the neck or bridge pickup when your sweeping?

  • @SeanyFens

    only the neck

  • @tziras So what would the main difference be between using a bridge and a neck pickup for sweeps? My guitar only has a bridge.

  • @SeanyFens

bridge pick up is to trebly...not suitable for sweeps

it is unusual to sweep on the bridge...it doesn't sound good

  • I'm suddenly selling my guitars.

  • @Mattlarrivee

    dot sell them

you will need them to sweep like the video..!

  • my hand hurts from watching.

  • up to 0:33 it sounds very similar to jason becker's altitudes.

  • sounds like an old n64 game

  • damn. awesome playing man

  • I thought i'd be able to earn money with my guitar. now my guitar lays on my bed and I'm watching guys who get paid for awesome stuff i'd never be able to play.

  • I love this, watch it every day for inspiration

  • I wish I could put on youtube how fast I can play the same things over and over again.

  • Cleaner than Mr. Clean.

  • Sounds a little bit like "Get out off my yard" by P. Gilbert

  • Has a real Jason Becker feel to it.

  • @mixalisKING you're an idiot

  • @mixalisKING why? You did not accomplish anything just by being Greek.

  • i just came...

  • Who gave Beethoven his guitar back?

  • today - very slow 10 bpm , 20 years later - 320 bpm

  • 1000 years practice xd

  • Incredible stuff man, I do a bit of sweeping neo classical guitar myself but your super clean all the best.

  • @SomethinWild hey! Something helpful lol. Thanks a lot! Like, AAAALLLLOOOOTTTT

  • i want to buy it!!!!

  • god.

  • @Tziras I can't watch every single sweep picking video of yours, by ur dvd, and than get the answer later on Google *what type of arpeggios are being played* thanks for replying btw

  • @chrisbrown18andup Most of the time arpeggios are nothing more than the notes of the chord played separately, with one "sweeping motion" of the picking hand but not letting them ring together. In this video for example (just one hint) at the end you hear a so called "Bach-sequence" which is based upon a pattern like this: 1-4-7-3-6-2-6-7-1. To put into note this would be i.e. B-E then A-D then G-C and at the end G-A-B. The arpeggios will contain the respective notes of these chords.

  • you should like .. one of the best guitar players in the world you should be famous in the metal scene god bless theodore Ziras you are on of my influences

your style is more like jason becker

  • at 1:02 I can hear Yngwie stuff ^^ Very Nice and clear !!!

  • What scale types are those

  • @chrisbrown18andup

    there are arpeggios...no scales

  • @chrisbrown18andup

    check my sweep picking tutorials

  • @tziras Perhaps they're arpeggios, BUT those notes in the arpeggios also belong to some scale.

  • @chrisbrown18andup he answered your question? hahaha

  • @Mossers89 not exactly, but its better than being told that my question is wrong and to watch hours of videos

  • @tziras arpeggios are on a scale too, otherwise they would sound horrible

  • @tziras Arpeggios are based off scales?

  • @DoTaPotion

arpeggio is the analysis of a chord

  • @DoTaPotion a scales consists of 7 tones ( in western music) and arpeggios are fragments of it. chords are build from that scale but not played simoultanously.. 3 notes for a simple arp for example: root, third, fifth... then you can expend it over octaves .. it strenghtens the structure of a composition and builds the foundation.. so to say. sry, for my english ^^ get a book on music theory.. books arent that expensive! or try a library OR the internet ;) its worth!

  • @tziras 0:34 He uses scale runs in between the sweeps though.

  • that. was. fucking. beast

  • DUDE! THATS FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!

  • Omg man that is very clean you are very good!!!

  • You suck...

  • Awesome...One of my favorite videos on YouTube Theodore. \m/

  • how many years of practice did it take you to be able to do this?

  • @cheepo888

    ..around 7

  • @tziras theodore - do you mean you practiced sweep picking for 7 years before you were able to do this, or 7 years of guitar playing?

  • @superdog797

7 years of practicing sweep picking

  • @tziras ohhhhhhhhh shit lol

  • @tziras is the DVD in english?

  • @Cornwalas2

    yes...

  • @tziras Respect man.

  • by 8 seconds in I would be waving my fret hand in the air screaming.

  • Jason Becker very good copy.very nice!!

  • do you put like a cloth at the end of the neck of the neck to silence the other strings while sweeping. I see something there on the vid. Just curious :O

  • @gh3god129

    no.. i don't put anything

  • incredible if you could it would be really cool to have the tab for it thanks.

  • @ebzug

    please read the video info

  • i wanna see him do the same thing with the acoustic in the background

  • @MrJiggles4

this is impossible with an acoustic guitar

  • @tziras not really

  • @MrJiggles4 ,It would be even more gangster if he could do that on the piano in the back :)

  • If Jesus was talking to i imagine this music playing in the background

  • @nixonmendeed

    please read the video info

  • @tziras guess i'll just do it by ear then haha

  • OMG u are my god of sweeps ^^

  • SWEEP MASTER!

  • if he used those sweeps in my kitchen it would be the cleanest place on earth

  • @hoovajames1 LMFAO!

  • @hoovajames1 hahahaa...good one !

He would have forever erradicated all crawling insects and annihilated any dust DNA with the greatest of vigilance alright !

  • i have watched this video a million times and i just realized the first and a little of the second sweeping passage sort of reminds me of jason beckers "altitudes" sweeping section, any relevance? And I really want to learn some of those sweeps, they are so beautiful i just can not play by ear well enough to figure them out

  • @NAtePoo

Jason Becker is a big influence for me

i did already many tutorial for sweep picking, please check them on my channel

  • The hardest part about sweeping (for me), is sync my picking with my fingerings. Any reccomendations or just more practice?

  • @fasthumbs

do it slow and perfect....then increase the tempo

  • @tziras I got the syncing down but.. how do I mute? I'm confused as to how to "palm mute" the strings.. (I try putting on the string above and so when I go down, it mutes it but that doesn't always work).. Any suggestions?

  • How could anyone dislike this?

  • @REXMANSAUCE some people don't enjoy the feeling of their mind being blown!

  • Lol , someone stole your idea : watch?v=I_DPIIYHTGE . Listen after the 3rd min :SSS

  • Christ..

  • Μαλάκες, πραγματικά, όποιος πάτησε dislike είναι απλά Μ-Α-Λ-Α-Κ-Α-Σ

  • That's the most fucking clean sweep picking I've ever heard 0:07-0:33

  • LOL

"Hello this is Theodore Ziras and welcome to my SHIT picking video"

    HAHAHAHAH

  • @FrontlineGuitar - if anything it's sheep picking, which is awesome.

  • FUCK 0_o

  • I need help on sweep pick and my fingers aren't fast enough, what can i do to keep inproving?

  • @erazohe

do it slow and prerfectly clean, then speed it up when you feel comfortable

  • @erazohe Just bring up a metronome on your computer and just slowly raise the tempo. Start out slower than slow and just get faster and faster.

  • @HaloMozis Thats what everybody says but it doesnt really work for me :( i get frustrated!!

  • @HaloMozis Then just try different things. That's the wonderful part about playing music. What works for one person wont work for another.

  • JASON BECKER!

  • 1:27 Yngwie's licks are everywhere :f.

  • i have to say, sitting in front of the piano doesn't make this look any less badass then sitting in front of your amp

  • Sick video!!!!! I need to learn that one of these days -Jay

  • Wow

  • do you have tabs for the sweep patterns you are usin in this video? ive watched this video about two years ago and im good enough at playin to do sweeps now.
