Most of the videos I shoot now, bad ones, are done with my webcam. I use the ZR850 for outside and when using special effects. It is my first camcorder and I love the size.
Is the zoom button easy to access while you are holding it using the hand strap? Cause I am thinking of buying a used one (almost like new with no scratches) for $100 and I am wondering if it is worth it.
No. You cannot add any lenses to this camcorder. Plus it doesn't have a mic input so all your videos will have a hiss on them. This is a decent camcorder if it's your first. The video quality isn't the best and you will need firewire to copy onto a pc. If you want better quality though, sony has their webbie high def camcorders for about the same price and record to a memory card.
I actually used my digital camera. It is a Konica Minolta Dimage Z1. Shortly after the christmas I got it, konica minolta dropped out of the camera business. Their camera's are now Sony's responsibility.
this is wat i use haha i have it to i take it to skool to trips almost every were wen i take it to skool i keep one pocket with nothing but the cam...i dont even feel it wen im in class
i have no firewire port on my pcs . do you know how else i can transfer video if i record on tape? and also the usb cable provided it, is one end firewire and the other end usb? or there is two port firewire and usb? thanks it would be very helpful.
The firewire is the only way to transfer video onto a computer unless you record it onto an SD card but that way it's only fullscreen and a little blurry.
hey when you put the SD card into the camera, does it save the video files to it, so then you can just put te card into your computer an get the file like that, or do you need to use the tapes then use he usb??
when you use tapes, you can only use firewire, when using the sd card, you have to use USB. The thing is, on tape it films in 30fps, at fairly high res (over 720 by 480), when you use the sd card, it films in something like 12 fps, and 320 by 240, which sucks, it looks worse than many cell phones.
yes and no. Yes, but only from the memory card port. If you have a memory card plugged in and record video or pictures on that, you can transfer through usb. If you do video on the tape, has to go through firewire. Also, it doesn't come with a firewire cable. Unless you get a computer made for you (I built mine), you will probably have to get a firewire card. I got a $30 card that came with a cable.
I still use the ZR85.
