Same here, I skipped the 3gs update from my 3g, because I think the iphone 4g will be worth the upgrade alot more.

you know there is a tool that follows the iphone that let you open the sim card slot.

you can find it where the user manual is (the little map that says "Designed by Apple in California" just open the map folder where the manual and apple stickers are, and it´s fasted in the actual map that holds the manual. it´s a small metal pin´ish thing. ^^ so yeah dont need to use a paper pin to remove the sim card :D

Here in the USA, if you put a SIM card into an iPhone, AT&T automatically upgrades your plan to the iPhone plan w/ internet at the standard monthly fee. The iPhone communicates with your service provider and kindly lets them know you're using an iPhone that requires the unlimited data plan. Get the iPhone 3G, if you're considering one ... they're much improved over the first generation and when iPhone OS 3.0 becomes available the summer, it will make them perfect! :)

Oh, and yes ... the iPhone can work on wi-fi. It automatically detects wi-fi service when it's available and will ask if you want to connect :)

i've tried a paperclip, a tack and nothing works. This has to be the most frustrating and fiddly thing possible from Apple. I can push a paper clip a full inch into the iPhone with nothing happening. ZERO for this - even the fact that people have to post videos on how to do this says it all. I'm off to take up more of my time and the 02 store where I bought it to get them to get the sim inserted.

Wha-? It took me all of twenty seconds after watching this video. You don't push completely--that's not how you get it out. You push in about a millimeter, tilt the paperclip/whatever to the side to get it to grip the sides of the hole, and yank. You're pulling it out yourself, not trying to hit a release mechanism. If you're pushing it that deep in, I hope you're not scratching circuitry or components...

I just got the iPhone 3G, when you open the box, and take out the phone, there's a little "getting started" type pamphlet wrapped in a black casing. When you open it, there on the flap is a picture of exactly where you would access the sim card, and directly opposite, they provide a little tool, basically a pin with an oval handle that you can use.

I think that service providers dont give a care, but you are right, there are some variations of sims, but theres one thats very popular. Basically, you try and find out. :) But, if you have a razor, or any other phone out there and u wanna switch sims with a friend for like 2 minutes, sometimes the phones are locked, just like the iphone. But thankfully, unlocking it takes no hacking skill. Just google "your phone" unlock codes, and if you cant find, call your custumer service. They'll give it.

I got my Iphone today, before i powered it up, i switched the at&t sim out and inserted my T mobile card in. Then I powered it up for the first time out of the box to see what will happen..and guess what? Nothing happened. It just asked me for a Sim card thats all it did..Dang...oh well!!!:(
