they had a article on this in dirtwheels a few years back , me and a buddy did this to his yfz it was supposed to make it from the wr 450 timing to the yz 450 timing, it worked preatty good you could tell the difference big time more bottom end grund and less hesitation all though the yfz's were known for the bog , wich the boysen accelerator pump would take care of the most of it .
this is cake, you take the tensioners loose i had to take my fully out. At the moment my yfz threw the rod bearing, im having to take the whole case apart then have someone balance the case. Shew, should've bought a honda. lmao
Wait so I have no clue if this will work on my '08 is there any difference in the cam timing on different years? We just did mine and it's not starting and just doing some more research on if it will work on my year YFZ
Nope, they didn't chage anything in 2008 just a few stickers and painted the rims and coil overs it should be fine with the cam-mod Something must have have happened when you did it, no offense but you have have done it wrong

I DID NOT MAKE THESE VIDEOS! I found them extremely useful in working on my '04 yfz a few years ago so I am passing them along. There videos are from '04 so I do not know if any of this will work on the new yfz's. This mod changes the timing to the yz450f specs.
hey man this video is awesome, ive had people try to get me to do this, but no one knew how to do it, I watched this once n went and did it, I gained loads of bottom to top, it even sheared off the 4 lock nuts that hold on my rear sprocket now that added some torq, thanks! I cant wait to go race.

adds maybe 2 horsepower on the top end. Makes the timing the same as the timing of the YZ450 dirtbike
