As of the 3rd Oct 2010 the number of US service members that have been killed in our un ending wars of Occupation total 5710 as per Washington Post. As our Pentagon has said, up to 30% of our combat veterans return home with some form of brain damage. Our own government has stated over 100,000 civilians have been killed. Over a trillion dollars spent ! With no end in sight. Sadly most of us sit at home and watch TV and discuss the latest game scores. Unbelievable.

@ipsut Yes and still less than the deaths from accidents in the military. VA care has still not been updated which is the real crime. The VA needs to be separated from the Defense Department. We've taken personnel out of Iraq, and the civilians dead have been murdered by the enemy. Also that is less money than spent on the failed stimulus project.

I've had a job contiuously for over 45 years, one that did not depend on a government pay check, such as working for the military. The protest movement has been a joke only because there is no draft, and todays young are more interested in TV and internet games. Your logic is an eye for an eye, which leaves everyone blind.

There has been no draft because they realized volunteers are always the better choice, not because of the whining of many like yourself. @ipsut The Constitution is a brilliant document, but it's nothing unless you can enforce it's ideal or at the very least protect them. If there were only people out there who were willing to risk their lives to protect your rights, oh wait the police and the military. Socialist? @ipsut Did you serve? Because I did, I was in the US Air Force, TACP, I was in Bagram, Afghanistan in 04 with the US Army 10th Mountain Division.

I have lived in the local communities, Not in some US protected military compound. I must say I believed our goals were to rid Iraq of WMD, oh then latter we were told we had to sever the link between Saddam and Bin Ladin, Of course both of those goals were bogus. Then we were told we needed to provide it with a democracy, Well about 9 months after the last election, they still have no government. Have I missed anymore goals?

I heard some paramilitary officers talking about how the guns had been purposefully removed from the tanks prior to carting them through the streets of Olympia. I wonder why that decision would be made. The skeptic in me wonders if those responsible for such a decision thought that the sight of such weaponry combine with the cliché idea of staring down the barrel of one of these tanks would cause a little too much understanding as to what terror Iraqis Fanatical OR NOT, have to face.

lol, these are strykers, [apc variant] 8-wheeled medium armor combat vehicles, not tanks =] main reason the .50 cal and mortar systems are taken down are simply cuz there's no need having them mounted unless in a training exercise or combat environment. having them stowed away simply keeps them tidy (try cleaning one of these bitches!  takes forever) and prone to any damage on the outside.

as for the terror thing.. they actually had to deal with much worse staring down the barrels of saddams T-55's. not terrorizing them, more policing and many iraqi's appreciate us. best advice to anybody is to stop watching the rigged/biased news and try going there yourself sometime.great vacation =]
