you are such a great person because of you these trees werent cut down and can be homes to birds or animals like squirrels and i know not all of there seeds will become trees because you dont want trees every 2 feet but at the very least 1 will survive and it will also become a home to animals and so on and so on so you helped many generations of trees grow and gave animals homes in the future
I was about to say that the one really flat branched tree (that you called a cedar) looks like what we call in Alabama, a Juniper. But looking it up, I found that what I call a Juniper is in fact, an Eastern Red Cedar (Juniperus virginiana). Except that our Junipers have the irregular spiked blue berries with kind of a "frosting" on them.
Anyway, did they live? (I see this was uploaded April 2008- almost two years ago.) I hope so.....
That is strange they wouldn't let the trees grow! I live in California and we try to protect trees at all costs. Its great you pulled them up though! I love trees.
How interesting that they let you take those trees. I tried to take some trees like that from the side of the road, that were going to be killed. And a Forest Ranger came up to me and threatened me with a fine.

@itachifan275 These trees have lived, many of them, anyway. It's always a treat to see how much they have grown each summer!

It's for snow control and under the power lines. The power company removes anything that could eventually get into the wires.
The township cuts everything that will interfere with getting the snow off the roads.
We live in a mostly forested world up here, so they don't care about trees on the roadside. Unlike some of us! grin.
