take about six of those together and evenly put them into a paper pipe about as round as a drinking straw. it will burn a whole lot faster if you ever need fast fuse.

@Kassarth all you have to do is find a piece of burnt wood and get the charcoal off it, or burn wood inside a tin can yourself and you will get charcoal. how hard is that?

@slidetodevelop Listen, if you're really interested in this sort of thing then you'll be willing to spend a bit of money, it will cost you about $20 to get 500g of potassium nitrate from their site, If you want more than that, find someone who will drive you to a farm supplies store and see if you can get a big bag of it, the worst than can happen is they will give you a funny look and say no we don't have it. Don't be a cheap ass, you CAN NOT GET KNO3 ANYWHERE ELSE IN AUSTRALIA AND THATS FINAL!

@ricardoamcabral2 Lucky you, that's $20 including the postage to your address via courier. To be honest it could be cheaper if it were bought fertilizer grade, around $40-50 AUD for a 25kg sack I think. But that could arouse suspicion, I tried asking a rural supplier but I got a funny look and was told they don't have it.

I've never taken one apart because those are too hard to get in australia, but if it is black like charcoal then it probably is black powder but it could be something else, a good way to help tell is if when you burn it the sparks are yellow/orange. but still not 100%

@dmikrut depneds if its at the top of the rocket it might be the report or explsion thats made from flashpowder it could be indian black aluminum flashpowder

If anyone wants to slow down their burn, add a small amount of sodium bicarbonate, if you've ever made a smoke bomb you'll know that this helps, but I am happy with my burn rate as is.

my black power is used in rifles so it burns really fast, i have tried mixing sugar with it but i doesnt slow it down enough, and I cant get any potassium Nitrate. should i make it with water? or will it still be to fast? help guys

Another thing for people to try would be taking a few grams of BP in a small container, add water in very small portions until it's not thick like dough and not a thin liquid but a smooth slurry, mix the string into this, it might have big lumps in it which you would be careful of if you're lighting something sensitive (big sparks) so drill a small hole in steel and pull the string through to get a consistent thickness or just do it with your fingers

if you confine blackmatch for example in a paper tube, it turns to quickmatch and burns at a rate of several feet per second

not always i did it well acualy i rolled a small tissue on it and it burned a little faster but not a drastic diffirence

get a little bit of tissue and roll the fuse in it (make sure the tissue not to thick) then u can put glue or tape and it works that way, also make it long and put the end at the bottom of bombs so that it lights at the bottom and expledes at bottom and not through the hole where the fuse is, but no water proof

Takes about 5 minutes to dry one of these fuses, I think the black powder dries but the string is staying damp, I used a fuse i had sitting around for about 3 weeks, I was running from a small blasting cap after I had lit it, the fuse was one of the longer ones I had made yet I only got 3 meters from the charge and it had already burnt down to the cap, luckily it wasn't confined well and sent a jet of flame upward rather than exploded because if my head was over it i might have gotten hurt.

that is the maddest fuse mad of bp i dont have bp but i have gun powder and i get straws fill it up with gunpowder and then to make it waterproof i cover the staw with sun screen
