Shittt...you clocked it here, the music ,the scenes...Peter gunn was Blakes version of a cool, countercultural Phillip Marlowe, and that was the vibe of the series.

Chandler's last Marlowe story was published only a coupleof years before Gunn appeared and in "The Last Goodbye" you can see the alienated hero at his best.

Craig Stevens was one of the first "smirking" leading men, and modern "smirkers" like Connery, Ford, Moore and, Jesus-just name a current actor owe a all to Blake and Stevens.
