Yes. If you want to learn martial arts go to a proper teaching establishement, gym, dojang or whatever.

Trying to learn the martial arts on your own is at best very hard and at worst you will pick up all sorts of bad habits that nobody can tell you about. Till your first fight that is, then they will become obvious.

bo or staff not bo-staff because bo means staff, so what you actually saying is staff-staff

rick, the reason why it says bo staff is for two reasons. 1. The bo is a certain length of staff (longer than the japanese jō.) around 6 feet. 2. They have staff in the title most likely to make it easier for someone searching for staff videos to find and watch this video. They probably didn't use the chinese term for this same staff length (gun) because it would draw people searching for videos about hand guns.

ya but if ur hands are close together u dont get any power for blocking either. i practice a traditional style of kung fu. and it is basic physics u dont get leverage if ur hands are close together. just try it yourself u will understand. if your hands are too close ur weapon no matter how fast u swing it will be knocked out of your hands. speedy flowers only equal confusion if the other person isn't a martial artist. when used correctly a strong flower can be used to parry and attack@same time

Modern Shaolin does have contemporary wushu as well as traditional. Please do not confuse the two. Most of what you see on the tours or demonstrations is wushu. There are also different kinds of "monks" at shaolin (Wuseng, biaoyanseng) most are lay disciples not fully ordained monks. Also the "monk" in this video teaches foreigners at Shaolin.
