Not to sound negative in any way... but... what is the purpose of all these ZVS flyback circuits, and arc'ing... is it just for fun, or is there some use for this? Thanks.
@KyleCarrington there is not any REAL use for this besides to mess with the RF, or build a tesla coil or something for entertainment. But, this driver can be used to power a plasma ball at high powers with the proper flyback (I will try to make a video of this ASAP)
@ubuntupokemoninc Awesome! I am about to blow my best flyback yet LMFAO! Whenever I make this IGBT zvs, it will blow this one away, but right now I am getting about 6 inch THICK arcs from a single flyback! ITS BEAST! Imagine what the IGBT version will do... my my
I liked the "So, here's our contestant." :p ~ When you were arcing (small arc) to the pin on the lower left, why was the main high-voltage pin & the pin 2 spots above it on the same side as the high-voltage pin arcing at the same time?
@maintoc If I am understanding what you asked, its because the shortest path was to jump through one pin which is internally linked to another, and then go across two random ones to get to ground
@juniortore1 Ok, but it seemed to arc from the main high-voltage pin to a pin 2 places above it instead of just to the pin that's 1 pin above the main high-voltage pin.
@juniortore1 Ah! Sort of like a person stepping on a rock in the middle of a stream while crossing the stream instead of going from bank to bank in one much longer/tougher leap. Darn clever, them thar little electrons. :p :)
nice vid

@KyleCarrington Its just us guys like playing with high power things that make arcs and sparks ( ; haha

@maintoc Yes, it was just using those tiny chunks of metal to make the path shorter instead of an all air conductor
