I think Karl wrote a great melody but the lyrics though powerful come from the Bible which has really never been an accurate predictor of much. This is an awesome song and a great video. I purchased the "Private Revolution" album in 1986 because of this song. It is still relevant today. I often thought of this song when I thought of the madness that existed at a place where I worked for ten years. As the recent Norway tragedy showed us, the problem may have less to do with Islamic extremists and more to do with anti-Muslim/Arab pro-Israel extremists. Or with extremists of ALL races, creeds and colors. This is an awesome song and a great video. I purchased the "Private Revolution" album in 1986 because of this song. It is still relevant today. I often thought of this song when I thought of the madness that existed at a place where I worked for ten years. In true form, I was involuntarily retired along with one hundred others on a raw, chilly day in April, 2006. We were "gallant slaves" indeed. One can only hope that the boat that carries those bailed out bankers hits an iceberg.

This song was the inspiration for a story I wrote about a guy in an awesome stone cottage on the coast south of Halifax. He witnessed the murder of a chic on the beach under his cliff-face. He was in the witness protection progam for a mafiia hit, and already hiding. and the killer saw him watching from the front deck of the cottage.
