  • I keep coming back to this song. It's absolutely brilliant.

  • Inspiring!

  • Bigger question! What can "My husband here" do? What rhymes with "Lots of Babies" besides... I dunno... "get infected with rabies"? Or scabies? Either way, I don't see it ending well for said husband.

  • This song is never not epic. @sweetafton23 It really grows on you! Give it a chance! ;)

  • CHORDS FOR THIS PLEASE?!?

  • I sang this for voice class :)

  • I wonder if it was a purposeful choice of words for Booth with "I -act- on behalf of everyone"?

  • what is it about your songs that somehow make everyone I've showed them to happy? maybe it's the uke, you can't be angry while listening to one.

  • I love this song so much.

And where is the Mr. T song! (2 years later)

  • Does anyone else feel uncomfortable when she says "Uke?" Like it's some kind of racial/instrumental slur.

  • @IvantheRevelator I thought I was the only one

  • You rocked Town Hall last night, Molly! Nail Gaiman who? ;-)

  • I really want to play this for my AP US History class. Chords please? PLEASE? *Puppy Dog Eyes*

  • My favorite song of yours, molly. makes me cry

MANLY tears, though . with little penises

  • This plane isn't really that bad...hahaha your music is so great! Way to be! :DDD

  • Who IS that Lincoln Fangirl in the first verse! :D

  • What gets me is that she not only has three different distinct musical movements, but generates three distinct characters that are, even for a short time, sympathetic. The random lady in the theater, the wronged self-righteous southerner JWB, and the gentle, well-spoken Lincoln. The fact that I felt bad for and kind of understood JWB in the second verse speaks more to the quality of the portrayal in the song than anything. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.

  • ICanHasCheezBurger shirt... that made me sparkle on the inside. >8D

  • "...ouch my foot.."

  • Brilliant, Molly.

I shiver with happy expectations of your creativity.

Be happy. Stay well. Be safe.

Don't take any shit from show-business piranhas.

  • It reminds me of Reese Roper from Five Iron Frenzy when you say "and I'll liberate my country"

  • Wasn't it his ankle? But anyway, this is so good!

  • This is a real showcase for your talent. Your brilliance as a songwriter will take you far. The day will come in the future (not long from now) when the world will know your music. I am such a big fan, I wish all the best for you!

  • did you win?

  • Oh my goodness that was so sad and so sweet and fragile along with a great uke of the uke, thank you so much for sharing, that was priceless.

  • @clotheslinepreaching Uhhh.. wtf? Her video. Don't be a dick.

  • @clotheslinepreaching

Be grateful lightning isn't the judgment of God on commenters, who have no real purpose for their post and who ramble on endlessly about nonsense.

    Seriously dude...wtf.

  • @clotheslinepreaching did she say it had a message? to answer that question: no. did she say you would enjoy it? to answer that question: no. does everyone on this page think youre a dick head who cant spell "lightning"? to answer that: yes. now go and praise your invisible man who sits on a cloud. kthxbai ^_^

  • geil.

    toll.

    super.

    nice:)

    I like it. very much.

  • this song is SOO EPIC!!!

  • From whose point of view is the first part of this song? It's killing me. My history-fu is weak.

  • Comment removed

  • Second point of view: John Wilkes Booth.

Mr. Lincoln's body guard's wife? From what I've found, William Crook was Lincoln's personal body guard, and Lincoln rejected his assistance that night, so he wasn't at the theater.

John Parker was his acting body guard. He apparently ditched his post to watch the play for a bit and then left the theater. Haven't found if he has a wife, but the first part is from the point of view of someone sitting next to her husband, so...not him.

  • We just did Walt Whitman in English class and I kept on humming this to myself when we did "O Captain, My Captain" and "When Lilacs Last In The Dooryard Bloomed". XD

  • the lincoln part was great

  • awesome song

i think you could do really well doing a cover of Cousins by A Punk :)

  • Vampire Weekend. A-Punk is a song by them. So is cousins.

    Sincerely, OCD Music Nerd

  • @SuperMopTop lol so your right, hah fail, how did you know i was ocd

  • "He'll be like 'who's that fledgling beauty' and I'll wave and be like 'hi' and i'll run off with him and we'll have tons of babies" :)

  • I really enjoy your use of minor tones, as well as your intelligent lyrics. Your other songs are great, but I'd say this is probably the best, IMHO. Keep rockin' (and come to Chicago!).

  • The whole song is just, just great. It's so unique! But holy crap that middle part was... I'm beyond words.

All I can really say is: keep being awesome!

  • I actually missed this one, somehow, and found it, today! It's quite good; I don't know what you're talking about! :D

  • I love the "Ow my foot." John Wilkes Booth broke his leg as he jumped off the balcony. nice reference. also I love your tags. "Tons of Babies"

  • luv you molly,.!

  • Wicked pissa! (local-speak) You have some very creative and witty grey matter in that pretty noggin of yours. Engaging to listen to and easy to look @ - nice combination.

  • This one reminds me of the Tom Lehrer songs, love it. :)

  • that was awesome. the last verse was tight, i loved the chord progression.

  • If it were in my power, I would crown you queen of the nerdfighters... •_•

  • honestly I really love this song I want to record a music video for it!

  • i put this on my ipod :)

  • Sheesh, if you think that song was the worst of what you've done, I'm six shades of envious...

  • Actually, at the end, I thought she said it was her second favorite...

It's an amzing song either way. The different tones and thoughts are great. I also love how she threw in a witness that was in the crowd, and not just famous people. Awesome song, listen to it over and over.

  • Love it, do another song with your mom.

  • i think this would make a great short film!

  • Um, WOW! Loved the Booth perspective especially, but the entire thing blew me away.

  • i don't much like the idea of using the internet in time wasting ways, especially in regards to watching people. but i somehow got sucked into this youtube thing and i have to say that in my time spent on this site, i can recognize that you are a jewel. everything you say and do seems to be gold. not because you have start quality like other internet celebrities, but because you are genuine and heartfelt. your creativity never ceases to amaze me. always looking forward to seeing more from you...

  • i liked it.

  • holy awesome! it was funny and powerful and bitter and that's impressive to put into one song.

  • Awesome, as always - the "local sound effects" just give it some special flavor...

(Is it me, or was that a little flash of triumph when you nailed it in one take?)

Keep on writing and performing, it just keeps getting better!

  • I mean not exactly happy, but it's light and easy to sway to. I makes me happy. And it has really good lyrics.

  • amazing !

  • GENIOUS! I really love it. It was very theatrical. My favorite was the beginning woman sitting on the floor, wondering if President Lincoln could see her! It's very clever and it all goes together so well. :}

  • good luck
