That is correct... this film was made at the time of Synchronicity... and Secret Journey is on Ghost in the Machine... oh well great songs on both albums... greatest band to walk the earth. :-)
I've always enjoyed this song... the only problem with this video is that it doesn't match the song. The images are from the Synchronicity album, but Secret Journey wasn't on Synchronicity... it was on Ghost In the Machine, the album before that. I still love the song anyway
woah....you should watch this, stoned lol! This is one of those songs where you feel like you're waking into a dream, then dreaming into reality...This is when songs had depth and you actually had to make GOOD music to be on radio or T.V. lol! I LOVE the police, but when I think of the "sound" that they had, it always comes back to this song. Great vid!
I have seen light in the darkness. from dark energies. the living light is awesome. to see forever in GOD's(JESUS CHRIST'S) domain. The glorified body. the forever man.to see forever is to see the back off your head, you are a continuum. you go on forever.
I will say, that I agree with all the positive posters here...for me, this song has always resonated a deep truth that I have applied to in my life...you will find this love you miss...
The entire beggining remindes me of a man walking in a crowd, then he stops and feels light headed and passes out, thats were the band begins to ease in and when he is completly out cold and everyone is surrounding him, his mind replays a time when he was most happy...If thats not weird or anything.
my oscar for ignorance in music goes to you MONKCR with respect to costarica your country i can't remember any outstanding musicians coming from there can you if sting music is boring god help you i wonder haw old are you to make you say such stupidity common hermano think before posting
everyone knows that sting was better with the police. there are a few good sting songs, but a lot of great police songs, and some of them were by andy summers. try omegaman.
I'm tired of Police vs. Sting stuff. I love both Sting solo and a few Police songs, but I'm not as huge of a fan of the Police - only select songs. But you know what, for the most part - they're still STING songs. So it doesn't matter to me.
Meh, for each his own. I agree that Copeland and Summers are what make The Police "The Police", and I love their playing, but I generally don't like Copeland's songs.
Probably one of their most riveting, evocative and atmospheric songs. Most likely the most brilliant song they wrote in their five or six short years together.
80's music album...much better than thriller and apetite for destruction and other I considered great. Ghosts in the machine could be one of the police albums.
I have to agree Bullitt, a very powerful song. I don't think this song received the attention it deserved (in my opinion). This song is a true gem from The Police.
@2:55 = Man Ray reference. Considering how Sting and Andy were always at each other's throats, I think he's very obliquely calling them both fags. Like, in a bad way.
I'd actually almost completely forgotten about this song. It's brilliant, I think, as is the rest of this album. But then, I don't think The Police released anything but amazing material from beginning to end. Sting, on the other hand, leaves quite a bit to be desired as a solo artist unless you like boring doldrum "adult" music... OH and if you are a Police fan- be sure to check out Klark Kent, which is Stewart's "Solo" project. It's wicked cool stuff.
I think that Sting has released some rather amazing albums (and, yes, some duds). Nothing Like the Sun and Dream of the Blue Turtles are thoughtful and powerful albums that blended jazz and rock styles. They're energetic and were quite unique to their time. Hardly mundane AOR. Soul Cages was hardly mainstream and is one of the most darkly introspective albums ever. I have a feeling you've honed in on his latter offerings which aren't as rewarding as the ones I mentioned. Give em' a try.
this was released in usa on single, beleieve it or not. i was living in australia at the time and my bro was in usa and sent me a copy, to my utter delight. only it arrived broken, so i wept openly and wore black for months, i was 12 !
By the time of Ghost they were already one of the biggest bands in the world, so it's hard to say they weren't "commercial" before. I still find a lot to like in Ghost. Sting wanted a more pop sound, Andy and Stewart wanted to keep the energy of the reggae/ska influence. Sting won, mostly. Ghost still has all the reggae time sigs and syncopation, but it is hidden by synthesizers & studio tricks.
Andy Summers said in Rolling Stone magazine that this was always a favorite track of his, and he had wanted it to be a single, but "politics" in the group didn't allow. Too bad.
I thought Spirits was my favorite by them but I remembered that THIS was my all time fav. Great little video you made here! Really...Great job to a great song~peace and thanx 4 making this;)
this song has that chilling mystery theme to it... love this song!!! this is one of my favorite songs... actually, all of their songs are my favorites!!!
This is my favorite Police song and would be on my personal top 10 song list right along with stuff from ACDC, Def Leppard, Rush, The Killers, Gravity Kills, Pearl Jam and a few others...
the problem with this song is that its too short. It wouldn´t matter if it was a piece of throwaway crap like canery in a colemine but secret journey is a piece of genius. they should have fleshed it out a little more. better than SITMW and IS so why wasn´t it the second single from GITM

Where did you hear Steward didn't like it. In his film Everyone Stares, there's a great scene of Sting in the mixing room on this great track going absolutely ballistic.
Yeah, you're right...I don't see how that's true. I remember that scene in Everyone Stares. Plus, Copeland wrote the majority of the Police songs, if not all of them, up to the Synchronicity album.
did I read that right...that you're saying Stewart Copeland wrote most of The Police songs?! Sorry, but definitely NOT true. The majority of the songs were written by Sting, with a few exceptions that I know of, like "Does Everyone Stare" by Stewart Copeland, and "Omega Man" by Andy Summers.
oh yeah...and also "On Any Other Day," I think was written by Stewart Copeland too. But the majority of the songs were written by Sting. I know he definitely wrote most of the really popular early songs, like "Message In A Bottle," and we can assume 90 percent of the songs in the other albums
Sorry I just misunderstood. I meant that Sting wrote the lyrics to most of the songs, but I'm sure they collaborated on the scores. In fact, I think Andy actually wrote the music for Every Breath You Take. Sting wrote the lyrics, but I think Andy wrote the score.
Sting wrote the lyrics and made the song's progression. At first, Sting thought the song was complete with only bass & drums, but he gave into Andy and told him to "make it his own." So in one try and take, Andy played the now famous melody thru the progression.
