nice set up,realy intense finale on it to:)loved the video, made me happy guys, thanks.love to se ppl making their own displays..so u load your shells yourself?that cool, not possible in sweden for consumers^^howver just glad that i saw this video, thank for sharing
First thing... No duh on the fiberglass racks. In case you didn't actually watch the video, or read any other comments, this show was 5 years ago, and we've since gotten much better equipment.
Second... I've gone to your website and tried talking with you before about fireworks, show tips, and the like. But like you are here, you were blunt and rude then, too. Plus, this isn't a forum to advertise your $#!**y website. Therefore, you and your website can suck a bag of dicks.
Glad to here. PVC is just bad Karma. I've seen the aftermath of a PVC flowerpot and it's brutal. Other than that it looked like you guys were putting on a good and safe show. It's nice to see that here on YouTube among the rest of the... less than intelligent behavior exhibited
It was about $400 in 2 minutes, but that was just the finalé. The show itself was long with a LOT of dead time between shots, cuz we were still dumb with this stuff at the time, and that's why it's not part of this video.
If I remember correctly, it was 72 Saturn rockets, four 19-shot cakes, a 5-Shot Bandit and 36 triple-shot mortars. I think this year we're gonna go back to a lot of mortars instead of cakes for the finalé. Lots of people liked it.
please listen to him... NEVER. EVER. USE PVC. i use fiberglass and HDPE, i don't think one is really better than the other. i made my own firing system last year and this year should be even better! great vid and get rid of those PVC!
your right.. if a pvc pipe explodes.. and u get hit.. they wont see the parts on the photo's.. so they will have to search a long time in ur body... use HDPE and FIBERGLASS like skiguy say's
On the record: You should NEVER use PVC pipes for artillery shells. If they were to launch wrong or be loaded incorrectly, PVC will splinter and send razor sharp shards everywhere, causing a lot of injury.
Off the record: We've used PVC for ten years now. Granted, we've had a lot of low blows because the PVC is just a tad too wide so the shells don't get the lift they need. I'd suggest going HDPE or fiberglass. I'll email you with more. And YEAH Dave Matthews Band Rocks!!!!!!
We're gonna fool around with a couple designs of remote firing systems, cuz the whole "light-and-run" approach is great, but I want more control with timing. Plus it's MUCH safer! If you have any great ideas, lemme know; I'd appreciate it!
I actually found that fiberglass tubes will work just as good, and are more lightweight, thus better for use in multishot racks for easier transport. If you shoot me an email or message me on here, I'll give you a great website to go to. I'm about to buy a case of them and try them out for this year's performance.
That year (2003) we had spent about $900. The finalé, shown here, was about $350 I think. Last year we spent $1246.34. (still have the recepit; I'm a nerd.) This year I'm hoping to hit the $1500 mark and include a remote firing system. Thanks for the comment!
Uh... yeah. :) We know it's dangerous, just had REALLY good luck in previous years. Starting with next year's show, we're going to use the HDPE pipe we should be using. Just found out how bad PVC can be!
that has to be the best use of fireworks yet! u no wats awesome is i just stopped at a shelton fire2works store about 3 hours ago to pick up my 4th o july stock!
We used all consumer grade shells from Shelton Fireworks, as well as a few mulit-fire cakes, including the El Torro 5-Shot Bandit and the ARRRGH! Barbary Coast, which are our favorites. What kind of shells are excals, mambas, etc., and where do you get them?

I go to the one in Richmond, Indiana. I live in Columbus, OH and it seems to be the closest. If I ever make it to the South, I'll let you know. ;-)
