*QUESTION* Do you guys prefer Airsoft guns, Gas Blow Back, & CO2, But have you guys ever bothered to use actual guns that shoot blanks w/ the blank shells? The price range for guns made to shoot blanks aren't that far off from the higher end CO2 guns. So I was just curious if you've ever used blanks.
@ThaBreakRoom Remember, they have to go through gun training and waste a lot of time to make it through licenses. Plus, they are mostly shooting in urban areas, so they can alert more than the neighborhood with a loud bang.
If you compare a airsoft gas blowback, it is the fairly the equivalent to a silenced pistol containing a live bullet. The only thing you hear is the blowback action from the hammer of the gun.

But say you have a blocked of area to film, permit, & etc. Would you suggest using a Gun that fires Blanks and spits out the blank shells, to help create a more realistic feel, along w/ less post-production since they sound real, spark, & release a bit of smoke?
@ThaBreakRoom I would still not suggest using blanks, even if they did have a permit to a disclosed area and everything. Remember about going through training and licenses? They cost money, and live-fire guns cost around 375. Just a little over a great performing AEG. If they were to buy blanks, they would need to spend around 37 for 50 rounds. 1k bag of plastic BBs would be 10.
As for realism, it would be awesome to see it in action, but I am sure they would need to replace the sound.

Using these in here UK is a living nightmare, the laws here are strict, you need to be a member in order to buy, and you can only get 2 toned guns, i have had to spray many of mine black and custom paint them which i believe is also frowned upon here, it isn't easy making action films on a low budget. :/

If you put two shots directly into the bad guy's heart and completely destroy the organ (ie nothing left but jello), his body still has enough blood and oxygen in it to fight as if he weren't shot at all for a good 11 seconds.
Axe boy was already on top of freedie after being shot. That's about 10 second left to axe the Asian as much damage as he can before vital organs and muscle start shutting down due to blood volume loss.
@warzer0 While your statement makes sense, you leave out pain. Personally I would probably chicken out if I were shot. Unless the bad guy doesn't feel pain or is THAT determined to kill the shooter, I think a gun still wins the knife fight.

Many soldiers report that they don't feel pain when shot at in the battlefield. Yes but at the same time, there's more then a few drugs (LSD, ecstasy) that raises one pain tolerance. Also remember that all a bullet does is pokes a little hole in soft squishy things like people, and there's not a whole lot of nerve clusters there. Plus the natural flight or fight response releases epinephrine which also allows the brain to ignore pain.
A gun's sole advantage is distance. If someone can get negate that advantage, you're in serious trouble.
@warzer0 It would depend on the bullet if it is a hollow-cavity that guy is screwed and all the other kinds like ballistic tip and so on. The hollow-cavity rips up the insides, and it like having blender go threw you. the exit wound is like grapefruit size.
Not really, hollow points make little holes a little bit bigger. Handgun bullets don't have the velocity generate by rifles and therefore the you're not going the same effect that rifle velocities can generate.
And exit wounds are not a good thing. They're not necessarily a bad thing but they're generally not good thing. ;)

what if ur in Canada? It took me forever to even find guns that I could get here. Anyone know how to get airsoft across the boarder leagally? I've already looked at every Canadian site I know like Mach 1 and Buy Airsoft and all the cool ones like Evike only ship to the US. Any help?

Actually the 21 foot rule holds true.
If you put two shots directly into the bad guy's heart and completely destroy the organ (ie nothing left but jello), his body still has enough blood and oxygen in it to fight as if he weren't shot at all for a good 11 seconds.
Axe boy was already on top of freedie after being shot. That's about 10 second left to axe the Asian as much damage as he can before vital organs and muscle start shutting down due to blood volume loss.

@warzer0 While your statement makes sense, you leave out pain. Personally I would probably chicken out if I were shot. Unless the bad guy doesn't feel pain or is THAT determined to kill the shooter, I think a gun still wins the knife fight.

@ProtonFilms Well, that pain factor depends on a situation. If any human's life is in danger (eg. in a lethal battle), a message to the brain tells their body to ignore the pain registering. Many soldiers report that they don't feel pain when shot at in the battlefield. Unless a person was ambushed and shot in the heart, that person (if they know the danger in their situation) still has a fighting chance to fight back

Yes but at the same time, there's more then a few drugs (LSD, ecstasy) that raises one pain tolerance. Also remember that all a bullet does is pokes a little hole in soft squishy things like people, and there's not a whole lot of nerve clusters there. Plus the natural flight or fight response releases epinephrine which also allows the brain to ignore pain.
A gun's sole advantage is distance. If someone can get negate that advantage, you're in serious trouble.

@warzer0 It would depend on the bullet if it is a hollow-cavity that guy is screwed and all the other kinds like ballistic tip and so on. The hollow-cavity rips up the insides, and it like having blender go threw you. the exit wound is like grapefruit size.

Not really, hollow points make little holes a little bit bigger. Handgun bullets don't have the velocity generate by rifles and therefore the you're not going the same effect that rifle velocities can generate.
And exit wounds are not a good thing. They're not necessarily a bad thing but they're generally not good thing. ;)

To be fair, headshots are VERY hard. Police doctrine recognized that, SOP for dealing with threats that warrent lethal force went from, "2 to the chest one in the head," to "Keep firing tilll they're on the ground."
