  • DAMMMMMM, I LOVE THIS WOMAN !!!!

  • Great song!! Radio/Mainstream music sucks!! Bring back good music!

  • Don't recall ever hearing this song as a youngster. My all-time favorite song by Skyy is "Call Me". I'm posting this to my Facebook group, "LOVER'S ROCK" . Just started it to encourage getting back to love, family and good music. There's too much garbage out here skewing our minds and the babies' minds nowadays. Let's get back to GOOD MUSIC!

  • What an extraordinary voice!! All you hear these days are women who sound like chipmunks in trouble. She sang this cut!!

  • I love skyy! Man so real and heart felt.!!!! I wonder what happened to them ?

  • WHOA! if only artist of today could sing like this i swear i'd stop getting bootleg copies of their albums only real albums i actually buy are those from the old school 50s,60s,70s,80s,90s after 04 music went down the drain..LOVE THIS SONG I LOVE DENISE MUCH LOVE TO HER AND THE LADIES OF SKYY

  • @skyyhigh2

    Denise, SANG!

this is LIVE. my lord. true, pure talent. wow. i'm actually floored. amazing.

  • Other than pics i have never seen this group . great post. ive always wanted to see who sang this song. great voice. me and some of the homies talk about this song all the time..and im not just sayin that..i would love to cover this song in some way.

  • when this song came out i was in clovis new mexico in the eairly 80's this song was the base favorite at cannon afb...being from dothan al, i didnt think they got down like that...!!!...LOSS N THA 80,S....A.RICH.

  • I have been in the military for 14 years now and when I was stationed in Bahrain(Middle East) they played this song at the club and it wasnt a person sitting. This is the type of song you can put on and dont say a word and let the lyrics do everything for you and its something about the lead singer voice that sends chills down my spine. THIS IS MUSIC. REAL TALENT

  • this is real music right here, unlike the shit they make today

  • I SWEAR THEY DONT SING LIKE THIS ANYMORE

  • This was one of my favs cause men are so dam afraid of real love... "but If he believes in what he's feeling and he wants to make love to me...." OMG.. i love this song. what year did they do this.. is the at the Apollo?

  • @Chocolaht Preach!

  • @Chocolaht 1989

  • I heard this song on satellite radio and it made me think of the love of my life. The lyrics are so profound and meaningful. This song sends gives me goose bumps. She sings with such conviction and emotion.

  • Wow! I'd be hard pressed to find a live performance that matches the studio version like this one...background singers...Solomon's spoken word performance...and ESPECIALLY Denise! Chills...

  • god, i love this woman !!!

  • I remember this song back in the 80s 90s man Denise and the lead singer of SOS band Teena Marie RIP and Patti Labelleare my favorite female singers of all time.

  • KEEP IT COMIN!!!!!!

  • My husband thinks her voice is so sexy. I have this song as his personal ringtone. I agree with him. Her voice is so unique. Awesome song. I sing it in the shower

    everyday!!!!

  • If R&B,Funk or dance bands can take advantage of today's technology, then they won't need record labels. All they have to do is do what these Hip "POP" acts r doing. Most of these acts have absolutely no talent but are very business savy, utilizing today's social network & tech to sell millions of ringtones etc. I'd support Soldier Boy and his stupid ass "lyrix" and music if he made up for it by playing a bad ass guitar. Everybody & their daddy wants to rap, give me break to something different.

  • The last REAL R&B bands were "Mint Condition" & "Toni, Tony, Tonie". Something is wrong with that! The labels figure they can get more money by having solo acts & by cutting the "act" to just 1 person, that way they can get more money. Yeah, it worked but hurt the overall quality of music. Anybody who says this generation of music is better than the previous ones are seriously disillusioned. R&B, Funk, and Dance BANDS need support through the advantages of today's technology so the come back.

  • The record labels and music industry in general have gotten rid of R&B and Funk "BANDS". It's absolutely disgusting, and it's obvious to see the BIG difference in the quality of music from when there were actual R&B and FUNK "BANDS" & now the over saturated bubble gum/garbage R&B/Hip "POP" SOLO acts. Not saying it's all bad but the good ones aren't supported & it's totally unbalanced. I will support any good band of musicians trying to create great art. I'm tired of these solo acts not artists.

  • DAMMMMMMM......HER VOICE IS SOOOO POWERFULLLLL....LAWDDDD!!!!!!!

  • Back when you didnt have to get naked to sell an album and the artists actually sounded like the recording...REAL MUSIC...I grew up listening to her and this song was one of the first I tried singing to get a feel for my range when I was a little girl!!! IM LOVIN THIS VIDEO!!!!!!!!

  • they are so good i thought it was a playback at first lol

I'm kinda in this situation right now with a lady I like she is kinda hesitant to talk to me cuz of her past relationship but i'm really a great guy i go to church I dont smoke, drink, I respect women... I just wish that she will trust me that i'm not like other guys

  • this is real music and this is back when musicians sounded like the record

  • Memory,,,,The good Old day's.....

  • To finish my previous comment- I personally interacted with the female singers of Skyy a few years ago- they still perform as "The Ladies of Skyy" and they still sing LIVE and sound great. No competition or "1 upping" here- just clarifying!

  • @doubleolove I guess I am not alone then. Now there's two of us.

  • @topherlins- only since you mentioned it- I'm a 45 year old "white dude" who has loved all kinds of Music all my life. I was quite hip to this song as well as the band Skyy since 1980 before they broke through big with "Call Me" in late '81. The artists you mentioned of the "New Jack" era in the late 80s- Keith Sweat/Guy- while definitely more embraced by the Black Audience, they transcended through to "White" Audiences as well. Also for the record, this song came out in '89.

  • Quick story. I am a 37 year old white dude and someone gave me this song on a mix tape in 1987 and I could never remember who sang it...until today. Looking back on this song I think that this song is one of the best in the era. The only better songs that i can think of are Goodbye Love-Guy and Right and a Wrong Way keith Sweat. I wonder how many white dudes like this song, I guess that makes me unique. No real point just saying is all.

  • Her voice was unique...she sang notes that only belonged to her, you knew her voice without question..i would rewind my cassette to hear say(Open, open open, you heart)

  • this is one of my favorite songs of all time dang i miss the oldies ,this is real music it doesn't get any much better than this, and she sounds so good live,i hope these so called r&b new preschoolers take lessons from this

  • One of the BADDEST Bands ever to hit a stage!

  • i wish music was like it was back then great song

  • one of the best groups ever!!!

  • damn they sound just as good live....sounds like the albulm too. damn this is good. btw, this is my favorite song in the whole world....i put so many ppl on to this song as of today

  • GOD...I miss Showtime At The Apollo!...That was a sho-nuff way to find out if the hottest groups of the day could actually sing.. Aint no faking with that audience....Skyy was even better live that on recordings...The showed, proved, possessed, shared true talent..

  • WOW! This brought back memories! Thanks so much for posting, we dont have awesome groups like this anymore

  • I absolutely LOVE this song....

  • Great vid and song. Brings me back to 89 90 time frame at the dance club.

  • This group is amazing and so is this song.. i'm only 20 years old but i do appreciate music like this, not this music today! This is when love songs actually meant LOVE INSTEAD OF STRAIGHT SEX!!!! Let's get this music back asap please!!!!! <333

  • YES!YES!YES! Thanks for this one too! blessings and smooches! This is real music!

  • This album was and is the bomb and this song proved Skyy to be a leader in the "slow jam" fest that was taking place at that time. Have you ever been eating a can of snack nuts and you get to the bottom and all that salt and flavor is just calling your name for more? That's what this lady's voice is like, so rich and excellent!!!!

  • so many memories....

  • Nothing but love 4 this song and video.

  • Chick looks like Marsha Warfield form Night court.lol.

  • the whole cd is nice and this is thier best song i wish they would have been around longer but no there is no more big groups especially with the lead singer is a female mabe if you talking about the yeah yeah yeahs.. but other than than ...ditttooh yeah...sade(sweatback)-says uzipolo king of decatur

  • Thanks Ricky...You know you can always make me smile!! I love you Mookee

  • dont be afriad of the way u feel one of my friends got me hook on dis and soon later i began to have feelings for her:)

  • I saw Skyy do this song on Soul Train around '90 or '91. The lead singer "NeeCee" really hit me with The Thunderbolt that show. It's forever in the bank. I think Monica took a cue from her.

  • sounds just as good as on my cd....baby making music right here

  • i love this song . Im only 29 and I still hear good music and this music is the bomb. I only wish she could come back.

  • after all these years since the first time i heard this song it still sends shivvers up and down my spiine the most beautiful song in the world .noke cleve,oh

  • I love this song real R&B instead of all of the overly sexual lyrics on the airwaves now...

  • Always loves the chord choices for this cut.

What a GREAT slow jam from back in the day.

  • skyy- call me was the shit do u all agree, i love there songs

  • This is when real music was on the air waves. She sounds just like this in person. No Auto Tunes

  • they are so great, so powerful. Does anyone know where this group is now? Do they still perform? will always support them. Thanks for sharing.

  • Yep. They are still around. Denise (the lead singer) comes here and read the comments. Go to my video "Start of Romance" by them. Read some of the comments. She replies there often. You send her an email from there and she always reply. They are sooo nice (she and her sisters). Take care.

  • Thank you so much for the quick reply. I appreciate the info also, it was great to hear that. God Bless you.

  • @usaearthling Hi! Yes..we are still performing..type in Ladies of Skyy on You Tube and you will see some of our more recent performances. I will be posting even more live footage soon! Love to all of our fans..drop me a line and I will try to see if we can come and perform in YOUR town! luv ya - Denise

  • Beautiful song! And the lead singer has a lovely voice. Everytime I hear this on the radio, I turn it up!

  • Alright for the posting from Showtime At The Apollo... I used to wait for that show to come on every week because the always had the hottest artists..and they usually sang for real.....Not all this background and voice-over crap ya get now-a-days..

  • Skyy...choon.The days when music & lyrics ruled and lead vocals could really sing, thanx Skyy for the music

  • Thanks for the post I always have loved her voice!

  • This song is so wonderful!!!! This is when Music was good, This stuff now is horrible!!!!!!

  • great song!! you dont find them like this these days, music has changed tremendously from good music like this.

  • Wow! I love this song & it brings back such fond memories...Thanx for sharing.

  • this is 1 song i will alwayz appriciate

  • Man I still love this song. Her voice kills me!! Where are they?

  • They are still around. Go to their video "Start of Romance" that I have posted. Deniese, the lead singer post on the comments. She reads them and will reply back to them. She's really nice. I think it's just she and the sisters that perform now as Ladies of Skyy. thanks for watching.

  • I loooove this song...even twenty-some years later. But Solomon's "rap" it these songs crack me up. Thank you iasaac Hayes to thank for adding those to black music (R.I.P Ike). Great song. My second favorite next to When You Touch Me. Are these guys still performing?

  • Yep, Isaac Hayes, Lou Rawls and James Brown, among others.

  • Jerry curl..........

  • Oh, listening to music like this makes me want to jump into a time machine and just go back to 1989. When they was making good music with body and soul.

  • Wow! A True Classic!

Brings back memories of 80's in high school. Music had real substance back then.

  • True Dat!

Skyy really did it big on this performance at The Apollo! Much props to the 70s/80s bands who made REAL music!

    Peace :-)

  • Erikwashington...

You're only 16 you're a baby! I know you LOVE the song... I do too! But, stay a baby, because it is only when 16 year olds "wanna do things" that they ought not to that they slip up and create a "baby." :-)

  • good advice sista

  • that song make you wanna do things to your girl and im only 16 and this song is b4r my time lol i love this song.

  • i wish there were more live skyy stuff on youtube!

  • This is my first time to see SKYY live (too many good things did not come to France), and It is a real pleasure to me to hear and see Denise with her fabulous voice. This is one of my favorite slow song ever.

  • SHE TORE THAT SONG UP YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!

  • vincent is that u my teacher is in that group too LOL

  • my teacher is in dat group lol isent dat cool

  • She looks weird but, she sounds exactly like the disc. Unlike some artist these days...

  • I think because she's really singing from her heart. My music teacher told us anybody can be pretty and sing, but you gotta get ugly to SANG!!!!

  • She is not ugly

  • I dont think she looks weird but she does sound exactly like her albulm.

  • damn she fukin sings real good it sounds just like the recording, this song is the shit.

  • I agree with you. She actually sounds better than the recording to me. She puts all of her heart in this song. I feel that's missing in todays music. I love Denise. I wish Skyy, SOS Band, Atlantic Star (with Sharon) and Midnight STar would tour.

  • i agree with what u r saying with all those bands exactly

  • damn this was the shit back in the dayz and its still the shit to me today i love this song.

  • 2:30 is looks like darryl from coming to america

  • hahhaaaa! so true!

  • i still bump dis

  • This was the song!! I was 11 when this song came out, just starting to like guys, u know when we took our time lol lol

  • Teenage foreplay low music in the background, not to loud waking up the folks, barry white voice on falling asleep saying "you hang up"... "No you hang up" beautiful 80's

  • This was the "booty rub" song my senior year in high school. good times and good music, yo...

  • i have this cassette original recording anybody want a copy call me deon 241-4203

  • Man ohh man what memories rekindled, I can feel the passion and soul pouring from the music. Blessed to be part of that generation. {-__-}

  • She has a great voice! One of my favorites.

  • that a very great and talent group here... trust i'm just stuck in the 80's and 90's right now Lol

  • yo im 15 this is my song me and my girl made love to this i love this s.h.i.t

  • I was 15 when this song came out. I miss the 80's it had the best music.

  • does anybody remember lets get by skyy from their self titled record skyy?

  • I have always loved this song. Every now and then I hear it on the radio. I'd love to see them perform. I love all 80's music. I can listen to them all day every day.

I sing all 80's music at work and they call me an old head. I don't care. That's just what I feel in my musical heart. lol

  • my sister's favorite jam, she reminds me of this every so often singing itand it just takes me back to when i met my husband...such a great time!!!

  • this is fallin in love music i love this music from the heart

  • when this song came out I was only a baby but I heard this song almost everday, my sister played it all the time and know I'am 28 and still listen to music from back in the days.

  • Im am 18 years ood and this is my jam. I'd rather listen to the real old school any day. I love it!

  • Same Here! If much of today's music sounded more like that, I'd listen to the radio more often and be more excited about new music.

  • It must be the water that they drunk back then that made them have so much style and class, not to mention they could sing their behinds off.

  • I do not know whats going on with the younger folks now days, Most of the stuff thats out now lack heart and talent. So many studio only voices ! Its all about getting paid !

  • I agree with you 100%. Thanks for posting, watching and having real taste in music. Take care.

  • Oh my goodness!!! Where did you get this? Where were they performing this? Im 33 yrs old, but I like the older songs better.

  • thats right no back bone to the music today, thank for nice comment peace to you
