I love the part where Altynai just walks across the floor en pointe. So graceful and cute at the same time. There aren't any ballerinas like her. She has something totally unique about her. She has constant passion. It just never goes away. Wish I could have seen her dance in her glory days. I've seen her interviewed about the Vaganova and she looks scary as a director! I'd still love a class with her though.
The great natural beauty of Altynai really shines through in a few shots. Zelensky must have been very young here. This must be a few years before his acclaimed SL DVD with Makhalina.
Asylmuratova was so passionate in her movement but not overindulgent i just dont understand... not diana vishneva, not lopatkina, not somova, not obratsova has this. they are ALL extremely LOVELY but their all thin and well mannered. not risk takers, not history makers... like plisetskaya of the bolshoi with her absolute POWER! or asylmuratova :(
@bolshoiboy8Yes - Asylmuratova's wonderfully expressive throughout her body - she really inteprets the music with every movement. And that beautiful face shows every emotion. Amazing!!
the powerful men of the mariinsky is no more... igor zelensky, igor kolb, ummmmmm that one guy i forgot his name he rarely dances anymore but he won moscow competition or so... now its all leonid sarafanovs and vladimir shkylarov. skinny men with bodies like girls... the fire is almost gone. its sad because the mariinsky was unique with this as they were the true original famed trianing for producing powerful male dancers now its cuba or the bolshoi. vaganova is still amazing though.
Перевод названия балета на английский как "Rehearsal" не совсем правильно. По русски "Проба" (а не "Репетиция") ближе к смыслу - попытка, что-то попробовать сделать. В первый раз или чтобы потом продолжить.
Maybe today. I have to edit part 3 because there was a rehearsal of Theme and Variations that must be removed or the New York Gestapo, known as the Balanchine Trust, will attack and remove all my videos from youtube. Anywhere in the next 12-36 hours.
Zelensky looks pretty sour, doesn't he?! :-) It's wonderful to see Ruzimatov laughing and joking here - he was a dancer of such intensity onstage. I'll never forget seeing him in London in Scheherezade and Corsaire - he was phenomenal. Even in this rehearsal - in that one attitude you can see all the pride, elegance and fire he brought to Solor. Thank you so much for this!
me too saw many times him at his best time, was superb ,and mee too prefear him in that kind of roles,in pure classical roles ,is very good too but little less convinging than in exotic roles,
l am happy having seen live ruzimatov many times at his best.rememberb in particular the first time ,nervi ballet summerfest many years ago ,he did corsaire, people really gasped in front his phenomenal danceing
da l' impressione che siano due donne a ballare !! l'uomo deve essere uomo !!

Everyone should be grateful to you for posting this video. Asylmuratova must have still been in her 20's?

Yes, she was in her 20s.

Yes - I agree. His Sleeping Beauty was sometimes a bit too passionate - not quite restrained enough in style!

I could not see his Bayadere in January. So this is a great gift for me.
Thank you again!
