  • Travis Barker...Who?

  • @Presidiente the one that fucking sucks

  • INDEPENDENCE!!!!

  • just fucking sick

  • Dennis is a monster on drums! I got to see him play in the early 90s with Pat Metheny and it blew my mind!

  • Never heard such a groove in kit/snare-based solo! GOD.

  • What a king. Joey who? :)

  • fuck.

  • that high tom sounds fucking nice

  • makes me get headache just by seeing it.. unbelievable

  • World domination mode...

  • wow, he can go with his hi-hat and double bass pedal simultaneously. impressive.. awesome solo

  • I saw him live some years ago and yes, his solo is amazing... but what admired me the most was his enormous command of patterns, skills and complex rhythms. This man is awesome.

  • Chambers... uno dei grandi del funk, indubbiamente.

  • down for it...

  • was wäre Dennis Chambers nur ohne seine Snare drum?!

  • 5:38 slap 2 the bitchy china cymbal xD take that !

  • este homem é um espectaculo repareia na independencia que ele tem entre os pés e as mãos!

  • who the hell is tony royster

    now?

  • Skillful, but totally directionless. He's played better.

  • @DCussen Do you realize that this is one of his oldest videos? It's from 'In the Pocket' . If "he's played better" then he peaked way too early and went downhill from there - and that's in no way true. You should observe the context of this solo. It's the end of a instructional video. It's supposed to be just technical.

  • This is probably the best drum solo i have ever seen and will ever see. Dennis Chambers = drumming.

  • Poor Crash :P 5:24

  • Bu adamlar uzaylı..

  • he killing tony royster on this

  • I <3 teh offbeatz

  • holy shit, i dont know if anyone else noticed but, at 1:39 hes playin the double bass pedal and the hi hat at the same time HHAHA he's a freak.

  • @lydianflatseven well they are right next to each other...not that difficult really. Now if he was heel toe playing on the hihat and bass drum some ostinato pattern where the hihat and slave bassdrum pedal are doing totally different things. Then I'd be impressed by that part. Either way though Chambers is the man. I feel like this solo isn't that great though. Saw him live last year and he killed it.

  • 0:54 to 0:58 bad ass fill!!!!

  • every fill is sick hahahaha

  • :00 to 5:44 bad ass fill!!!! :)

  • man its know surprise this guy taught tony royster possibly one of the greatest drummers in our time

  • the master of out of time playing, fucking genius.

  • the hi-hats serves as a metronome

did dennis use a triplet bass pattern?.

    correct me if im wrong...

  • any body know what all these vids of chambers with this blue set are? did they just decide to video tape they're stuff or what? i know its jon scofield and blue matter but what was it for?

  • this was an instructional video made back in 1989/90

  • they are from the dvd "in the pocket" you can see most of it on youtube. check out the songs "so you say" "one nation under a groove" " chameleon" and "flashlight"

  • Omg...And I hear people talk about Joey Jordison,Mike Portnoy and The Rev...

Those guys are charicatures compared to Dennis Chambers !

    Wow...

  • everyone has his thing...

  • eheh you're totally right man... ;-)

  • @gregbboy619 Well.. Search for Nosso Trio Vento Bravo and met Kiko Freitas. You WILL like it! Im sure bout this!

  • @gregbboy619 ehm, did he play in such hearpounding bands like SLIPKNOT, DREAM THEATER OR A7X?? no he didnt, so an amazing drummer with amazing feel? yes. kickass band? no...

  • @gregbboy619

ma caxxo stai a di? omg chi? fai paragoni di merda!!!

  • 3:38 GHOST MODE

  • :))) totally!! some dematerialization stuff! :P

  • minchiaaa bravissimo!!! grz schiavodelmito per aver messo questo video!

  • Speechless!

  • great posture, brilliant player

  • everytime I see this dude play ---he blows my mind....all over the kit and still in the pocket! One of the best of our time!

  • his toms are b-e-a-uuuutiful.

  • 3:38-WTF?

  • never amitt yourself to one style

  • dennis chambers is the micheal jackson of drumming he plays bop jazz rock funk blues and pop

  • Bonham? anyway

  • The people that commented on his playing NOT giving him props are either not dummers or or just haters!!!! Dennis is mister pocket , groove and chops! So.. don't hate because everybody who is somebody in music will tell you that Dennnis is one of the pioneers of pocket and licks!

  • Okay! He plays really GOOD :D

    A fucking machine :D

But his kit sounds like crap though :S

  • machine

  • bom

  • PEARL!!

  • The McDonald's of drums

  • McDonals's suck -_-

  • In spite of how technical and precise Dennis Chambers floats his chops.... I'll take a Steve Gadd any day in my band.... Rhythm and soul are what drumming's all about.. Taiko Drumming!..Wow!... What passion!.. Drumming is about bracing the song like a skelaton. Drumming solos? - Well, I guess they're not meant to be masturbatory -- and, must also follow the song as it's own voice within the parameters of what's being musically delivered. It's all about the song, and the groove!!! Period!!

  • Well said, man. Thank you :)

  • You are very right my friend. But not only can this guy rip the shit out of the kit, he can groove like any mofo as well.

  • bahaha Dennis is a funk drummer !! He can also open pockets you could park a suburban in !! He was P-funks drummer from '78 TO '85.

This man has no natural predators

  • haha! this guy's top of the food chain

  • drewdrum hit the nail on the head. (the nails chambers eats for breakfast)

  • there`s a lot of drummer who can play like this in west coast, especially LA..

east coast drummers they`re more into style..

    more into music than acrobatic..

  • Bonham o Chambers?

  • You can't be serious.....Bonham or Chambers?

    TWO DIFFERENT DRUM LEGENDS!!!!

but I would prefer Chambers though....

  • Bonham by far is more a historically significant artist. Chambers might be the more technically ridiculous player.

  • I like 'technically ridiculous' :o) It is true, much of what he does doesn't really make sense. Let's just say the more people push the instrument technically, the more it will be used creatively by others. But clearly, the guy never got my foot tapping. Might also be because he looks so bored all the time.

  • DAMN SKIPPY!

  • instruction for idiots: when you think a video with someone drumming is sped up just look at the cymbals, if they rotate normally, then you're just stupid...

  • his independence is unbeliveble as well as his speed, control, talent. i mean... not even Data from Star Trek can do this.

  • drum god a living legend

  • THIS IS NORMAL SPEED

  • @ROCHELDION he can play way faster....

  • if you knew anything about dennis chambers you would know this is normal speed.

  • haha you mug

  • monster

  • That`s amazing, he plays both pedals in the same time

jajaja, no domino bien el ingles

  • I don`t understund that doble bass, how can he do this?

  • DAMN IT!!! Dennis makes me SICK!!! I've been playing for 30 yrs, and I will NEVER even come CLOSE to what he does. It is just unbeLIEVABLE what that guy does!!! DAMN!!!

  • look at that all cymbal role starting at 2:23-2:28

  • this video is at the same speed of the video

  • this guy is fucking amazing..

  • this is not sped up!!!!! i saw him 5 feet in front of me play even more blazing stuff than this at a jazz club here in atl. he walked in one night and they asked him 2 sit in and he beat the crap out of a little 4 piece the kit

  • The independence of this guy and many of these upper echelon pros is just silly good!

Chambers is so good that even good aspires to be him.

  • the part i dont understand is when it shows the little video box in the corner of the kick and the second beater is hitting the kick while his left leg is on the high hat. fucking sick solo tho

  • he controls both hi-hat and second beater with the same pedal. See how the hi-hat closes just as the beater hits the head.

  • No, on that segment he doesn't even use his second pedal. You can see it sitting next to his hi-hat pedal. He never even touches it. It's all one-pedal work.

  • Exactly. I dig the 3-against-2 feel.

  • Dennis often controls his hi hat and double pedal at the same time using his left foot.

If you set up the pedals next to each other you can press them both at once!

  • if i could have any drumset in the world it would be his definently

  • YES

  • wow

  • oh shit that was some serious drumming.

Not just how many beats pr minute you can produce...

  • his foot is actually half on the bass pedal and half on the double kick left pedal. or he has one of those cool pedals that controls both at the same time.

  • I don't quite understand the mechanics here, could someone tell me how he is able to control both the hi-hat and the bass pedal with just his left foot on one pedal

  • he doesnt have his left foot just on the hi hat pedal. when it comes to double bass, he plays left bass drum and hi hat with left foot on both pedals

  • Thanks. Amazing! That must be incredibly difficult to do. Playing the hi-hat and the bass drum with one foot, and yet keeping the groove for both at the same time.

  • check out akira jimbo, he does that to. its no quite difficult, but if you have to play complex stuff like this, well...^^

  • Oh I totally dig Casiopea man. Jimbo's a great drummer I think, but gawd..... their bass player Tetsuo Sakurai is totally nuts!

  • i dont know him :|

  • hes playing them at the same time by not changing the pulse of the left foot, he had quarter notes going on the hi hat and then when he added the double bass he kept the 4ter in the hi hat going with the bass and played the hi hat along with it and the right foot played whatever patter he wanted it to!

  • OMFG crazy

  • WOW! Crazy shit, Take that Danny Carey
