Discovered when she was only 16 she took to acting like a duck to water. Convincing as an innocent girl or the jaded woman, she could play them all, and did, opposite some of the very best actors of her time.
No offence but this was typical Hollywood treatment of their "stars" building on their looks, individually or as a couple and more or less ignoring their prowess as actors.Great couple, great individuals forever missed. Thanks for a most evocative post.
Thank you for making this beautiful tribute to such a beautiful lady, Linda. I have tears rolling down my face after seeing her beaufiful face and thinking about the tragedy in her life especially the way she died. It just tears my heart out to think to think of such a beautiful lady in and out was burned so bad. Life just isn't fair!
Yes, she was actually called The Girl With the Perfect Face by the film industry. Her face is perfectly symmetrical. Jacqueline Smith from Charlies Angels has the same quality.
Thanks for sharing this video. Linda Darnell sure was a girl with a perfect face. It's so sad that she died tragically at age 41. May her soul rest in peace.
I feel terrible about the way she died. I was at the library recently and looked through a book about her (and I had known how she died) but in re-reading the passage again, I got so upset and choked up...very sad ending for such a lovely lady.
@Arlease37 She went back in the house because she thought her friend's daughter was still in there after it caught on fire, but her friend's daughter was already out of the house. Linda Darnel was staying at a friend's house when it caught on fire.
She got out of the house but went back in to get some checks and money. While she was in a neighbor threw a chair through the back window, thereby sending in a plume of oxygen which intensified the fire. Badly burned and outside the house again she was cursing with anger. She succumbed soon after.
Linda known for her raven hair and somewhat Latin looks, often described as the "Girl With The Perfect Face" Linda in her early career was leading lady to male heartthrobs Tyrone Power and Henry Fonda, but in 1952 Linda found that good roles were few and far in between and she appeared in nighclubs and did summer theatre and some supporting roles in television.
Tragically Linda died in 1965 of severe burns suffered in a house fire. Fondly, Hedda
A Letter to Three Wives is all I saw her in, and she did a very nice job in that. That was a good movie all the way around. She was so pretty. Evidently made many movies.
What a true beauty!!Sultry with a sweetness in her smile. Thanks for sharing this with the rest of us. I loved it! I've been a fan of hers since I saw her in "Blood & Sand" with Tyrone Power, back when I was a teen in the 80's! Her acting is flawless in "A Letter to Three Wives".
SHE WAS SO BEAUTIFUL I AM READING HER BIOGRAPHY AND IS VERY GOOD
