I m writting to say that all my family just watched your documentary about Peter Norman and 1968 s olimpics. we are proud of your uncle as an atletic and humanitarian, he was an example to be followed. You did a great job with this documentary. Outsdanding!! Our world is a better place cause people like Peter. Amazing job, congratulations!!!
Dear Peter, I wasn't born during Mexico '68, but my father told me all about it years later - he was an African student in London at the time. You really are a hero - I can't believe people treated you the way they did simply because you supported your fellow human being. Because of you, I am me today. I was sorry to hear about your death, but I know you're in a better place; this world is too evil for a soul as beautiful as yours. And you were blessed with a nephew like Matt.
jesus 2000!!! and no one invited him for honor ?!!!! i just want to know the fuck was in charge when they did honor him on sydney 2000 !!! seems that australi has far to go...
papers have to find out and investigate this ...i reckon in 2100 PM will apologize for what they have done to peter !!
Just read about this story on the bbc news websites. It is an incredible story and such a shame the Australian Olympic team didn't acknowledge Peter Norman during the Sydney Olympics in 2000. The bloke should have gotten a knighthood. R.I.P Peter Norman.
You don't know me but I've been following your career with interest for a few years on your website. It's interesting, if I may say so, how your story parallels that of your uncle. Like him you set an example that Australians need to follow - except your example is for us filmmakers. You don't answer to the funding bodies(which are morally bankrupt and stifling beauracracies, just like the australian sport culture)... you answer to yourself, your audience and the art of filmmaking.
I remembered Tommie Smith's unbelievable run as a 10 year old. The ceremony went over my head until I learnt about it as an early teen.
It's with great embarrassment that I have to admit that I only researched Peter a few years before his sad passing. I was heavily involved in the sport as a sprinter in my youth in Britain and now I want to share this great work from Matt with my daughter who like Peter is Green and Gold. Congrats on your brilliant project.
Cool graphics on the trailer (saw it at the movies - looked amazing) and the grade looks great. Must have been a challenge for the people who had to source and organise all that original footage from 1968 ;-)
Great. Have 'THE picture' in my class room with the words 'United we stand, divided we fall' printed under it. Have told my students this story for ages - now I can show them the dvd.
I saw this movie last night, and you deserve to be commended for doing this incredible story supreme justice.
Pardon my ignorance, but I had no idea of the story behind the picture. I certainly had no idea of the commitment that Peter made to show support for the idea of equality.
As someone who is not even into sport myself (!) I was completely engaged and overwhelmed with emotion.
Version, I'm so glad you got to see this. Amazingly this is the first time the real truth has been put out there. Thanks for your comments. Matt Norman - Director/producer SALUTE
Thank you for your generous comment. I am very proud to finally bring the true story of this historical moment to the big screen. The story has been thrown around so much by others but never really found the truth. As Peter's nephew I've been able to get to all the right people to give a true version of events. I know those interested will love this film. Its a very emotional film with a message. Thanks again for the feedback.
Hi there, the company that made the trailer for us is called "The Solid State" who are based in Sydney. They were incredibly good to work with and made sure we got it perfect. Thanks for the compliment i'll pass it on.

The movie was very good, and moving.
I am sad that his achievements (both athletic and social) were not celebrated while he was alive.
Congratulations - well done.

I can't wait to see this film. It looks incredible. Those of us who are paying attention are really proud of you.
I like to think you'll be recognised at home... but if not, like your uncle, I know you'll be recognised here.
Signed,
An Australian filmmaker in L.A.

Brave guys. What sort of response would this get now if something similar happened. All of them are role models for what is right.
