  • I DONT GET THIS! all its going on about is derby, he only won 2 things there. why not make it about his Nottingham forest career were he won 10 TROPHIES compared to derbys 2?

    COMPLETE JOKE THIS IS!!

Still a LEGEND at NOTTINGHAM FOREST!!!

  • @nottinghamcity1 because it was about his derby years and well he was only at derby a few years.

  • @nottinghamcity1 If it weren't for Derby, Clough probably would never have done what he did at Notts. Plus, he was probably a bit more outspoken in his youth at Derby which makes it more memorable for the neutral.

Agreed with the sentiment, though - he should be remembered for his greatest achievements, not his stepping stones.

  • yes

  • respect to Brian Clough from a Liverpool fan.

Shanks and Cloughe were the greatest managers in British football.

  • great video i got this on dvd for xmas

  • Derby is a great town spent 3 years there at uni.. went to a few games at the baseball ground.. saunders, wright period

  • omg this made tears come..... Forests largest in life legend!

  • r.i.p brain a legend in his own right

  • Brian clough = Legend. Derby always was his city and favourite club.

  • don revie was better haha

  • Hi, just wanted to update you all on the progress of my book. I am putting together a book of memories from people who met the great Brian Clough. I have had lots of fantastic stories so far and have four publishers interested, so its looking very promising.

I still need more, so if you ever met him please put drop me a line with your story for inclusion, I will read and reply to everyone. The email address is thedayimet@hotmail.co.uk

    Thanks

  • The Guv'nor. Enough said.

  • 63 goals in 74 appearances is bloody good!

  • cloughs a legend in the end bit the dearby forum is that dave mackay with him that guys a legend.

  • The Greatest.

  • SIRRRRRRRRRRR BRIAN . NOTHING MORE TO SAY

  • 5.02-Good to see Cloughie regards himself as a Yorkshireman (and I'm a Lancastrian) Seems like most people have forgotten Boro was originally in Yorkyland.

  • If anyone would like to get their story of when they met Cloughie in a new book, please get in touch and drop me a line

  • glad he aint my boss id be shittin it lol, small guy but very hard and headstrong

  • "Rome wasnt build in a day, but i wasnt on that job", best quote ever!

  • Carrer threatning injury, and see how he still tries to get up, Then when you see players like Drogba acting like a bullet has taken one of his bollocks off when he gets touched.....Puts them to shame.

  • errr, yes, yes he was. He was just part of millions of people who were homophobic at the time. Fashanu was used to it, and it was the norm. You cannot accuse him of not being a great man because he followed the norms of the time. Do not forget that he was one of the first to use a black player, Viv Anderson, regulary which was pretty revolutionary

  • He was a great manager, but to say 'Great Man' is a falsity. A great man wouldn't have followed the norm at the time and understood that Fash was a brilliant talent in English football regardless of his sexuality. He really did give him a lot of stick.

Race and sexuality are different. I know he was one of the first to use black players in the English league but racism became more socially unacceptable before homophobia, that doesn't mean that either where ever acceptable to start off with.

  • Fine- he could have realised, but maybe it was something to do with Fashanu. He couldn't hold it down with a single team, even before he came out. He played well went playing for the Saints, but generally was unlucky when it came to it, as they didn't have the money to find him, and there were so many good forwards at the time that managers must have found it hard to fit him in... Im just putting it out there.

  • @merton8181 Thats a weak argument. Being a nazi was the norm in Germany for a time, having slaves was the norm for a time in the US denying women equal rights used to be the norm. All of it is wrong now and was wrong then.

  • @maxgarcha Yes it is you fucking fag lover being gay is wrong every religeon says so they and any one who supports them will burn in hell!!!!

  • Cloghie you in the heart

  • When John Madden passes on he will be given as great a tribute in Oakland as Clough got at Derby.

  • Brian Clough

    True Legend

    I will never forget cloughie

  • A true diamond. We should all learn to have the confidence to say what we believe, as Brian did.

  • Without doubt the best manager England never had......

  • i no alot of people will disagree but gorden gorthry has done just as much for derby as clough and i think he should get more reconistion

  • Born too late to see Clough in his day...But my god I'd wear a Millwall shirt at Upton park with gasoline on my face, JUST to play for him...

  • Brian CLoughs Scoring Record

    19551961 Middlesbrough 213 (197)

    19611964 Sunderland 61 (54)

    Total 274 (251goals )

what a player. he was as good a player as he was a manager, Legend....

  • Absolute legend.

  • My favorite manager of all time: a West Brom fan

  • While it is true that Cloughie didn't win any European trophies of any note, how many managers could boast of taking two clubs, both fierce rivals from forgotten clubs of the second division to the top of the First division. or all the fans out there who don't realise it (or who only know of the Premier League) this would be like Alan Shearer taking Coventry to the top of the Premier league and then into Europe, I would like to see many managers do that now

  • Didn"t win any European Trophies of note? what planet are You on! Clough lead Forest to the 79 European Cup & defended it the next yr 1980... are You a thick cunt or something (prawn sandwich brigade)

  • Prawn Sandwich brigade my arse. You twat, course I remember he won those trophies and I didn't mean to denegrate the man (who was a legend) no go learn some fucking manners you cunt

  • I Quote ByzantineByron "while it is true Cloughie didn"t win any European trophies of any note" Your words, there is no higher award in club football in Europe than to be continental kings, which Forest did twice! read Your comment again thick cunt... everyone knows Brian won 2 European cups except You, lol

  • what you on about clough led nottingham forest to two consecutive european cups

  • wot u mean he didnt win any european trophies - u mean for Derby or altoghether???

  • Ye well least wenger won the league in england many times so shut your mouth....and come back and talk to me when notthingham are in th premiership!!

  • tottenham fan in peace

Brian Clough was the greatest manager ever

  • RIP.....i've just seen the damned united, i cried so much, especially since him & taylor made up in it, but they didn;t in real life :(

  • NOTTINGHAM FOREST Cloughie You Our God

  • Cloughie might have failed the 11+ Exam; but how many people could strike and head the ball like he could? ;D

  • Only domestic trophies though, no European silverware.

  • Oh ya how many European Cups has Wenger won?

  • wenger is a french pedo... now take ur stupid comments elsewhere

  • Man City in peace.

Brian Clough was the greatest ever.

  • what Clough did won't be done again, as

the sky money , " champions league " and the fa has stopped smaller clubs like watford, qpr, ipswich, forest, luton, norwich from competing on a level playing field

  • If Brian Clough was made england manager, there would be 3 stars on england shirts.

    The FA have denied us

  • if you cut him in half it would be derby county through and through

  • nah just maggots and pish

  • im a leicester fan but i respect this man

  • I was in Cloughie's presence as a raw apprentice in the early 1970's. he used to frighten me to death, but I respected him cos you knew where you stood with him. I also played my bollocks off for him. loved him dearly. Hey young man !!

  • What a legend.

  • I' m a Villa Fan...(I Know, don't shoot me). I just wanted to say how much respect I have for Brian Clough. Derby County Will always have a Place in my Heart.

  • 2 european cups in 2 years, fact. brian clough = the best ever

  • Have some respect for the man. RIP

  • fuck off you mug calling him a twat, who do you think you are.

  • Revie?

    fuck...the arab coach?

  • Best England manager you never had. Unlike Fergie he could coach any side & do wonders & thats why he was the best.

  • I think he was the best manager of all time. To take Nottingham Forest to two european cup wins is staggering.

  • iv'e just retyped my youtube letters to comment & could not belive the word was CLOUGHIE....Crazy! Comment is LEGEND!

  • I am a Chelsea fan. I am too young(14) to see ANY of Clough but still he inspires me. I want to grow up to be a manager of a pub team and this man is inspiring....

  • LEGEND!

  • Clough = the best ever

  • speaka de English. We no understand you

  • leeds are scum blue square premiership awaits you

  • leeds will never be bigger than any team look where you are now league 1 what a joke and look above you derby and forest are higher hahahahah

  • where are you now though? stop living in the past!

  • yeah ur right but ppl like you are the reason nobody likes leeds

  • Leeds were like Nazi's. That was the manner in which Revie ran them and that is why Leeds are so hated.

Derby and Forest are not 'shitty little clubs', a typical Leeds fans response as they see nothing past Yorkshire. Derby were in the mire, so were Forest and just like Leeds are now. Clough performed big jobs at both or neither would have achieved like they did.

Sick of the high and mighty approach, especially from a club in the league below. Clough wanted to change you cos you're scum.

  • everyone hated leeds in the 70s thats just the way it was Revie was a mercenary a money man

  • * he failed to become England manager*

  • The FA failed in their duty to appoint him !

  • and Revie failed as England manager

  • Yes, but I think the main reason he failed at Leeds was because the players had been under Revie for so long it was hard for him to change the whole setup there in such a short time. In those days, many players stayed at a club for more or less all of their careers. I wouldn't say he 'couldn't handle a big job' its just the classic case of you win some you lose some. He wasn't an FA Yes man either which is why they didn't consider him. Revie failed at England that was a big job.

  • You Leeds bell end. Clough wanted to change a filthy cheating Club into a respectable organization - you are right he failed in that respect. But look at Leeds now!! just where you belong. You are shit - and always have been.

  • The greatest manager England never had. God bless you Cloughie.

  • Legendary man. Typical Boro gobshite though!

  • T T TEESSIDERS!

  • great manager...but he talked some shite.

  • Which bit astley2?

  • he was too controversial for the england selectors and we lost out as a result of their timidness and fear of him being a loose cannon out of their control

  • film wasn't the best, not surprised the family wont see it.

  • no, the film was fucking awesome.

  • yeh it was amazing like

  • ...Clough is a legend, proper genius!! If Clough can get the shit that is Derby and Forest to achieve so much he should have been given the England job!!

  • what a stupid comment

  • ..prince dublin, what a stupid cunt you are!!

  • haha, and another. "If Clough can get the shit that is Derby and Forest ...." explain this ?? You choose any team, they needed someone or something to turn it around. Man United and Liverpool etc did not just spring out of thin air as top teams! In our and forests case it happend to be Clough. Who or what was it for yours? Or was your team naturally league champions from the day they began?

  • Legend need i say more!

  • Cloughie you our God

NOTTINGHAM FOREST TILL I DIE .alhaidaree.

  • Cloughie, youre OUR God....

    DERBY TIL I DIE!

  • His best quality was doing amazingly well with limited resources. I think David Moyes at Everton is today's equivalent.

  • The best manager that England never had - without doubt.

  • Who Said He did?

  • he never managed England

  • i remember him saying he would crawl on hes hands and knees to manage us (sunderland) i tell you what how times would a been with him at the helm

  • Personally I think He is the greatest English manager ever.

  • I agree,He was a great manager that overcame lack of resources with hard work and determination.

  • the world will never see another brian clough and if we do he will only be a cheap imitation .rip. everton fan

  • Brian Clough was once engaged to my great Aunt. I live on the same road....VALLEY ROAD... in Middlesbrough, the road Brian Clough was born on, every time I go past his former house, I look up at the plaque that says 'Brian Clough' lived here.

  • im a chelsea fan, and i think jose mourinho reminds me of him alot

  • i thought the same, as a chelsea fan.

  • seeing a team like that win something as great as the european cup, is special, and alot more special than the liverpools and manchester uniteds winning it, there is no doubt he inspired the english game, players who played for him and became managers would have taken his style on board and no-doubt it would help, and i just hope that now, Nigel Clough and even give Derby county even half of what his father gave them, and give the rams fans another era to be proud of

    R.I.P

  • From a Manchester City fan, he was a truly great manager, player and person, i think martin o'neil sums him up pretty well, he wouldn't be where he was today if it wasn't for cloughie, and also, it was good to see a team, unexpectedly become great, and people may disagree, but who would have ever have had Forest down as 2 times european cup winners, even ask alot of people today, and they probably won't believe forest won it twice, but the fact is they did, and to me,

  • brian clough; fucking football god

  • Fantastic man, fantastic manager. I'm a Derby fan, but let's not cheapen his memory by descending into Derby vs Forest abuse.

  • top 1 hahahaha

  • Thanks for posting this on youtube

  • A remarkable player,manager and man. A winner, an entertainer, a socialist, a maverick, a one-off, a legend.

Hope your'e competing with and having frank exchanges with Shankly, Paisley, Busby and Jock Stein. You were wonderful. God bless yer. A Liverpool fan .

  • Legend

  • should of been england manager.

The reason he wasn't,is because he was no YES man.

  • I could not have said it better myself ;)

  • middlesbroughs greatest son

  • Ok. I love Brian Clough.

He was excellent for BOTH sides!

Now I think that Brian would prefer if there was a bit of peace on his behalf!

But then again even he likes a good row ;)

    R.I.P

  • The Greatest Manager England never had

  • He was great.

  • dcfc4lyf

Brian Clough hin hes own words - forest are SH*T

  • brian clough is a ram! he h8s forest!!

nigel clough is a ram! he h8s forest!!

    The CLOUGHS are RAMS 4eva!!

    Super Derby County!

  • The One and Only.....The Legend that is simply...Cloughie....He was the manager of Derby when I went to my first game with my dad...Now at 42 and living in Wales I still go to Derby with my own four kids...Nigel, you've got your work cut out to emulate your dad...but if you've got half the spirit you're old man had you'll do for us JW

    RIP BRIAN

  • BRIAN CLOUGH 4EVA FOREST FAN !

  • Beautiful lady!

  • brian clough was fantastic for forest and derby.

    great man.

  • Everyone is entitled to their views. I respect that. But I have had this discussion at work so many times with a mate of mine. For me Clough was the best because (and with the greatest of respect) he accomplished amazing goals at clubs much "smaller" than Man utd. He had alot less money at his disposal and also accomplished back to back european cups with Forest, something united are still waiting for under fergie.

  • I'm neither Derby or Forest, I'm Leicester.

We will have to agree to disagree, is that fair enough? :)

  • Malmo was there league Champions at the time, Fergie has had time and money, nothing compared to what Clough had, same as Paisley, also Clough and Paisley are the only 2 British/English Managers to win back to back European Cups, Fergie never has. The amount of cash Man Utd have had and spent they should of won it alot more.

  • i'm sorry but if your tellin me that it was harder to win the european cup when clough and paisley were around your off your head pal! and by the way paisley inherited that liverpool team! i'm not sayin clough wasnt a great manager, he was but to say he's the greatest ever is way off the mark. fergie's won more trophies than anyone else and he's built 4 teams at united. clough once said, fergie for all his titles hasnt got 2 of what i've got, and i dont mean balls. well he has now!

  • also, the game changed dramatically since the clough era and money has been spent at liverpool chelsea and arsenal and only liverpool have won a european cup out of the 3 since united did it in 99. i respect brian cloughs achievments but theres only one godfather of english football in my book and he's got the trophies to prove it.

  • Middlesbrough Legend

  • I hope that you can accept the tribute of a Leicester fan.

RIP Mr Clough. You will always be the best of all.

  • thanks 4 that m8 im a derby fan but 4 this man derby forest and leiceter all loved him we should respect that

  • My personal feelings are that he was and will always be the greatest of all time. I don't think that he will EVER be surpassed.

I also realise that here at Leicester we have alot to thank him for too.

Our best manager (Martin O'Neill) learned from him - self admittedly - and promptly led us to the premiership and europe (Via coca-cola cup) So by my estimation, our success under O'Neill was alot to do with what he learned from Brian Clough and I will be eternally grateful for that :)

  • brain clough is a ram is a ram

  • he was a legend, i dont care that he managed forest, he was a legend

    DCFC

    R.I.P

  • A very special manager respected by all fans.. if only characters were like this in the game now

  • im a leeds fan and have always wondered what might have been had he been given more time,a very special manager mr brian clough

  • This sickens me, they make out like he was derbys. Whem hes ours Nottingham Forest

  • i agree

  • I was thinking the same thing when I watched this.

  • You should have taken his son - plonkers!

  • & the ordenairy people was there too! Fuck you toss pot who the fuck are you prick!

  • best manager ever

  • I think Peter Taylor's death hit Cloughie hard. I don't think he was ever the same again. They were the master duo in football.

  • You are a true legend

    and it is so true

    only you could bring

    the reds and rams together

    R.I.P

  • A great character. If you javen't read it already, I would recommend reading 'The Damned United' about his time in charge at Leeds United. RIP
