when I woke up in Solano County CA in 1978, it didn't take me long to connect with 2 little but POWERFULLY SOLID radio stations: KTIM (san mateo) and KYLO (Davis). Tunes like this calmed fear of everything growing up Bakersfield or DEAD. The Parsons name sez it all, and the genre is as pure CA country Kickass as it gets this side of Sweetheart of the Powerglide....or was it Commander Grape plays HitRoad Stinkin Up an Icy Grapevine Hill??? I dunno..what I DO knowiz THIS 'un KICKS IT!!
"The global solar PV market witnessed tremendous growth in 2008 and 2009 with 11,908 MW (megawatts) of installed capacity coming online in these two years as compared to only 2,392 MW installed in 2007. The cumulative installed solar PV capacity has more than doubled since 2007. Installed capacity increased from 9,162 MW in 2007 to 21,070 MW in 2009. Europe is the leading solar PV market with a share of 66% followed by the Asia-Pacific with the share of 17% in 2009. - altenergymag
@WDockery yep Phil Ochs wrote this, and it was on his last album, Greatest Hits (ironic title), before his suicide.
many on the political left have speculated some US right wing government spook agency murdered him, but the Fugs' Ed Sanders in July 1976, wrote a long essay in Chords Of Fame album liner notes, about Och's "sad last months," which caused him to croak himself, dispelling this kund of "stuff of legends.".
@pvelectric yea his sister said he was mentally ill he needed medication he bought a bar a wrecked the place after he was attacked in jamaca and his throat was hurt it affected him i have a friend who was mugged in an atm and had a nervous breakdown has to take medication
@spacepatrolman thanks for this info. a soul sister singer I heard over radio complained about how Ochs always got a higher billing over her group during their tours during the "60s. like a wise guy told me all the time, be happy, you've never had it so good. if you think about this long enough you realize it's true, or you're bettter off thinking its true at least.
@spacepatrolman can't remember who said it or what group she was in. Ignorance about any singer to the political left of Mussolini is encouraged in the land of the free and home of the brave. one is mostly free to shop and watch corporate TV, and the bravest people I've known personally are a few workers who try to start, or openly support , unions.
@pvelectric there are two songs about joe hill one by phil ochs he was convicted of killing 2 people in an armed robbery and shot by a fireing squad i dont know what the rush was he was only identified by a pockmark on his nose the perpetrator wore a mask
"my kingdom for a car," having been done so well, I think, by ochs, I presume before this version, is literally just what the US is currently postulating and exercising. the constitution? a quaint document stacked against oil thirst..
rape or the end of the earth, we will have our cars, any size or inefficiency, who cares hide away your women and children were comin' fer yer oil cool cats!
phil ochs is howling with laughter at us from the grave, or "up there!
@BuddyPC electric motorcycles and bikes, charged by solar panels, could easily transport us to jobs within say 15 miles from our houses. this closeness of work to housing sure would be a big change, would cost a fortune, create millions of new jobs, not to go abroad to kill people to steal their oil, but to build and manufacture infrastructure and solar and wind manufactured goods, which we could then export. shame on the left & environmentalists for wanting jobs here in the US!
@spacepatrolman yes, and the inscrutable Chinese I read will be making those cars, and providing the fuel, according to the book "The Yellow River by I. P. Freely.

C'mon. Phil Ochs had a bigger carbon footprint than Al Gore.
Utilizing petroleum, of the earth, is somehow raping this earth which has been here five billion years before us. What do you do, bike everywhere?
