I wonder how this battle would've ended if Ben had been with Luke here...it would've made this duel very similar to the one between Anakin, Obi-Wan and Count Dooku aboard General Grievous's command ship in Revenge of the Sith
Bravo! Brava! Marvelous, splendid, especially right before he threw Palpatine over the side! I literally laughed in joy and clapped when he did that! Only a few complaints: the transitions from the flashbacks to the present sounded very static-y and it detracted from the music quite a bit. Also, around 1:54 or 2:10 you should have had that line when Palpatine was telling Anakin to kill Dooku from Episode 3. It would have been a perfect parallel. Just constructive criticism, if you ever repost it
Damn, Palpatine was evil. He destroyed the Jedi, unleashed the dark times, and poisoned the heart of the person who was basically supposed to become the Messiah. He deserved more than being thrown down into the bowels of the Death Star.

This is a change I wouldn't have mind George Lucas making. It does show what Anakin was probably thinking at that time and in some ways makes it pretty powerful especially the scenes with Padme.

What gets me is that years later Luke is perfectly willing to sign off on the death of his nephew when he goes darkside, and yet he won't kill his father. Hypocrite; yeah he's a true Jedi.
I think that among the video with the flashbacks, yours is better because the LAST flashback is the one when Anakin is kissed by his mom I think that in fact, if she came with him, he'd probably not become Darth Vader. I don't say he's borderline,no,but when he becomes again Anakin, that's logical he remembers the period with his mother, because she's the most able person to make him be good again, he would like his mother t be proud of him, he doesn't want to be Vader remembering her, I think..
Congratulations, you really have made a really epic scene even more epic than I could have imagined. The use of those prequel clips and the deaths in A New Hope were brilliant. This is truly a piece of art, something that even Lucas should take a look at!
George Lucas Re-edited this scene for the Blu-rays by adding another "NOOOO" type crap, I would die to have this be in there instead it shows perfectly the conflict and realization of Vader's mistake in his head and adds so much more power to this scene
When Vader was thinking and throws the Emperor over, it should have showed when Dookoo cut off his arm, and beagan to torture him with force lightning, then to when the cut off dookoo's hands and killed him, and ended up replacing him. That's probably the most likely thing to have crossed his mind and that he would do the RIGHT thing this time.

Gotta admit, the editing in this video was quite good. But like every video/movie in the world, this one too has it's flaws.
The biggest flaw it this in my opinion was "be careful of your friend Palpatine." I think that memory was quite off, and didn't fit there. It didn't have enough emotion to fit there.
Otherwise this is okay, but not the best version where Vader remembers his past. I like the most lacertile's version, check it out. :)

A nice touch would have been adding Padme's line about there still being good within him just as Luke bends down to help him. Lack of that didn't stop me from favoriting it though.
The original video was not in 720p! it's just up-scaled. Where as blu-ray is a digital remaster of the original copy with 1080p resoultion. It would look great. Will it not?

You can easily submit this idea to Lucas and he can edit future DVDs and Blu-rays of this movie. They already did an edit with a victory scene at Corauscant and photoshopped Anakin's actor for the ghost at the end.
This is a really great edit. Wish they would have ended it this way. Maybe someday they will. But his final turning point has to be remembering Obi Wan telling him "you were supposed to destroy the Sith, not join it".
@alenoguerol666 After watching your video again, I think the scene where Anakin is tempted to kill/kills Dooku would work at 1:55 better than Obi-Wan's quote to be honest, as Anakin is now where Dooku was and Luke is where Anakin once was.
As for the other scene, I don't think it could be fit anywhere, it could possibly fit around 3:17 but I don't think it would be necessary.
@fzerofan1378 I got your point but these memories were put here because they are supposed to show how Vader struggles with the dark and the light side of the force and the flashback of Dooku doing the lightning to Anakin doesn't represent that concept. But your suggestion was good nevertheless.

I usually get tearful when Luke is being zapped by dark force lightening and Darth Vader kills the Emperor... (possibly due to knowing my Dad would rather walk away than help his kids as he hates responsibility and confrontation) but this new edit made me cry more. Well done :o) ..the first flashbacks seemed a bit clumsy but the rest really were spot on!!
Wow... that was chilling, and inspiring. Especially right before he throws Palpatine in, all the words that are spoken, and the animation of the clips being put together was bad ass, I like the freeze frame effect in there. Very cool. Nice freakin job, this was amazing. Hats off to ya.

Outstanding. A bit rough around the edges in its final execution but the overall artistic thrust took me back to the very first time I saw ROTJ, and the emotions of that moment as we watched the film (it was just insane) - you've captured the emotional complexity brilliantly. Bravo!
I'm a huge star wars junkie and i have to say this is the best HD i have seen in a starwars movie (even if u edited it) the flashbacks were awesome. other jedi telling him snap out of it and do what u are supposed to do. even it cost him his life but at least he saved luke and also leia so they can carry on the jedi order without papltine putting his nose into it (even he returned as a clone but thats a another story)

If GL and Co. Sees this i hope he remakes this scene exactly how this guy made it. But with better audio/video quality..and puts it as an extra with the blu-ray release then I'll be more than happy to buy it. This was very powerful. I'm not much of a a fan boy..but man kudos for this video bro! maybe they could call it "Fall of the Dark-side" or something.
The video was well done but the audio imbalance really distracted me from the emotion of what was otherwise beautifully edited. Audio is a large percent of the final video as you know ; )
one of the best flashback sequences and i enjoyed the overuse of them at the end, i can imagine vader thinking of everything that happened with qui gon, obi, his mom and padme, nice editing and loved the japor snippet parts!
This is the highest quality recording I've seen so far, but for some reason the ambient pitch of the music is higher than what I'm used to hearing. Also, the edits were just too busy near the end, and the impact of Vader's pivotal decision is drowned out in a maelstrom of painful recollections. I'd try something more subtle or cut back on the amount of flashbacks, and maybe play about with the overall pitch as well. Good work.
@Raveheart90 yeah i used high volume audio because i had 10$ speakers and i couldnt hear anything. when i changed those i realized the sound is too high, and about the ammount of flashbacks its intentional. there's a lot of edits that has a few flashbacks and i added 30% of everything i wanted to put in it but i didnt had room for more. also i have taken the ROTJ dvd and edited it a bit to make it look better. if i make a new version i will use blu-ray quality ;)

This is a really great edit. Wish they would have ended it this way. Maybe someday they will. But his final turning point has to be remembering Obi Wan telling him "you were supposed to destroy the Sith, not join it".

For some reason, I think the scene where Dooku shocked Anakin and where Anakin killed Dooku would have fit in Vader's flashbacks too.
1. Anakin knows what Luke is feeling when Palpatine shocks him.
2. Anakin realizes that he would be "replaced" like Dooku before him.

@alenoguerol666 After watching your video again, I think the scene where Anakin is tempted to kill/kills Dooku would work at 1:55 better than Obi-Wan's quote to be honest, as Anakin is now where Dooku was and Luke is where Anakin once was.
As for the other scene, I don't think it could be fit anywhere, it could possibly fit around 3:17 but I don't think it would be necessary.

@fzerofan1378 I got your point but these memories were put here because they are supposed to show how Vader struggles with the dark and the light side of the force and the flashback of Dooku doing the lightning to Anakin doesn't represent that concept. But your suggestion was good nevertheless.

faved. thanks for putting the part where anakin talks about him killing the tuskens and making the foreshadow of- "...and the children too!". then showing the scene of him killing the younglings. Thumbs if you think that speech was an epic foreshadow.

I usually get tearful when Luke is being zapped by dark force lightening and Darth Vader kills the Emperor... (possibly due to knowing my Dad would rather walk away than help his kids as he hates responsibility and confrontation) but this new edit made me cry more. Well done :o) ..the first flashbacks seemed a bit clumsy but the rest really were spot on!!

Wow... that was chilling, and inspiring. Especially right before he throws Palpatine in, all the words that are spoken, and the animation of the clips being put together was bad ass, I like the freeze frame effect in there. Very cool. Nice freakin job, this was amazing. Hats off to ya.

Outstanding. A bit rough around the edges in its final execution but the overall artistic thrust took me back to the very first time I saw ROTJ, and the emotions of that moment as we watched the film (it was just insane) - you've captured the emotional complexity brilliantly. Bravo!

I'm a huge star wars junkie and i have to say this is the best HD i have seen in a starwars movie (even if u edited it) the flashbacks were awesome. other jedi telling him snap out of it and do what u are supposed to do. even it cost him his life but at least he saved luke and also leia so they can carry on the jedi order without papltine putting his nose into it (even he returned as a clone but thats a another story)

If GL and Co. Sees this i hope he remakes this scene exactly how this guy made it. But with better audio/video quality..and puts it as an extra with the blu-ray release then I'll be more than happy to buy it. This was very powerful. I'm not much of a a fan boy..but man kudos for this video bro! maybe they could call it "Fall of the Dark-side" or something.

The video was well done but the audio imbalance really distracted me from the emotion of what was otherwise beautifully edited. Audio is a large percent of the final video as you know ; )

one of the best flashback sequences and i enjoyed the overuse of them at the end, i can imagine vader thinking of everything that happened with qui gon, obi, his mom and padme, nice editing and loved the japor snippet parts!

This is the highest quality recording I've seen so far, but for some reason the ambient pitch of the music is higher than what I'm used to hearing. Also, the edits were just too busy near the end, and the impact of Vader's pivotal decision is drowned out in a maelstrom of painful recollections. I'd try something more subtle or cut back on the amount of flashbacks, and maybe play about with the overall pitch as well. Good work.

@Raveheart90 yeah i used high volume audio because i had 10$ speakers and i couldnt hear anything. when i changed those i realized the sound is too high, and about the ammount of flashbacks its intentional. there's a lot of edits that has a few flashbacks and i added 30% of everything i wanted to put in it but i didnt had room for more. also i have taken the ROTJ dvd and edited it a bit to make it look better. if i make a new version i will use blu-ray quality ;)
