Remember that video game where you guided a snake around by his head while he just kept getting longer, and you couldn't cross his tail? That's what the first part of this reminded me of. This is a nice video, though.
City had all HD's for years. Our off road training field was a rocky bugger. Switched to BMW's after HD maintenance costs rose. Motor Patrol hated the image change at first. Recently they bought a couple of HD's again (high resale value), and no one from Traffic really cares to ride them on shift... except for parades. :>)
yea, the meter maids here ride'em too and them girl make it look easy, one told me they wear out floorboards a lot, but when you see them scoot around on the floorboards I see why.
@motorman857 totally why I hate these big hogs, I had one for a year and all I did was hit the pavement, handle like station wagons...nice riding in the vid though
not so, the Harley's handle like a child's toy. They have a much shorter wheelbase than the metric cruisers and make slow speed maneuvering simple as long as you apply the three techniques. If you don't, you'll forever be on the pavement. Learn how to ride with skill and confidence, practice is the key.
@motorman857 I know how to ride...don't like fat bikes. They are just too low and too wide for my tastes. I admit this vid shows they can be driven in small places....which is cool, but I just don't get why Harleys are always so fat. You could do alot more on a more nimble bike.
I saw some bikercops riding at a Bike rally in Jackson, MS last summer. They were racing a cone course doing time trials against each other. it was Amazing! I know experienced 250 riders that couldn't compare
@motorman857 I totally agree. The Electra Glides and the Road Kings both have low centers of gravity, which makes them easy to handle with the right technique and practice. The BMW RT-P's are also nimble and a joy to ride. No matter what type you ride, it's critical to remember to only use the rear brake when riding at very low speeds. Just that one thing alone will help you dramaticaly.
@Chubcatcher if you notice, the 2nd and 3rd riders are ladies, very small and petite and can handle their big cruisers like a child's toy because they apply the three techniques.
It takes a lot to handle those heavy bikes that slow

@tag7100 yeah snake......actually reminded me of exactly the same thing. Not easy to ride big bikes slow and following each other like that :)

you got me so into this that i was asking the motorcycle cops around my area if they had public classes
aeroliner750 2 years ago
It's not their exhaust pipes, it's the floorboards on the bikes hitting the pavement.

heavy bikes, good muscles and technic!
POCTAC 4 years ago 7
@POCTAC A relatively weak and small lady could do this just as easily with practice, the only muscles needed are the ones used for the controls.
