Wow. I listened to it again, and it's even worse than I originally though (because I turned it off last time). It's even more idiotically simplistic than a pop song. The song is just the same riff, over and over, and the chorus is delineated with some layering over the same riff. The vocals are somewhat out of tune as well. I don't even think this is good enough for an Apple commercial. Did it take all of two hours to come write, record, and mix this?! Most music is just so lazy these days...

@InterpolFl I have to agree with you about her voice, it is pretty weak and dare I say nasally, but luckily she and her band mate like to either use heavy reverb, or kinda have it drowned by guitars and so forth making the songs where they are weakest vocally bearable. For an example, try listening to The Curse or Most Wanted, you can really here how mediocre Maddie sounds in those songs. Well, at least she is nice to look at. lol

It's a ticket to obscurity. There was a brief period in the 1970s where FM radio ushered in an era of album rock. There were bands that could play and write music very well, and people listened to them. MTV killed that off in the 1980s and the Dems/Reps elitism destroyed public education(their kids go to private skool)

As for popular music, the Flaming Lips, Muse, and a few others aren't half bad. Flaming Lips are OK musicians, decent songwriters, and amazing live performers. Muse are über-talented and do a great job of sneaking progressive music to the masses (much better than Radiohead -- arrogance ("we've done all that can be done with rock music..." What? By copying 70s prog rock in a half-assed way?) and gimmicks ("pay whatever you want for this album" (after all, the record company gets all the $))

Also, in terms of popular metal, I'm surprised that Mastodon have done so well. That said, Opeth are a billion times better, and not as popular (but surprisingly popular, nonetheless). Smart music requires smart listeners. Look at the extreme cases -- most country music is utter shit consumed by retards (apologies to Willy, Waylon, Cash and a few others who are great). Have you ever seen a redneck at the symphony or avant-garde jazz show? Cults is for non-frat, artsy kids at mediocre colleges.
