I read somewhere that this film was banned in Singapore because it showed a girl being rude to her parents !!...I wonder what they would have made of the strip scene later in the film.
@scotpens Yep! He needed a drum, so the guitar was there! Actually, fellow British rocker Jess Conrad does the same bongoing-on-the-guitar in "Young, Willing, and Eager", another British teens-in-trouble flick.
Oliver Reed and Adam Faith were in fact lovers, dispite thier hardman outer appearance, they loved nothing more than holding hands, and collecting wild flowers.
I wish my friends would dance with me like this. All teens do now is the smoking and drinking part without any good music. It's so annoying. All the nasty rap Miley Cyrus lady gaga bullshit.
British beatniks! What is this world coming to? It looks like they've been taking lessons from America's most famous beatnik, Maynard G. Krebs. I wonder if "Dobie Gillis" was shown on the BBC back then? But on the other hand, these Brit kids sure know how to rock! And that Gillian, with her "Brigitte Bardot" look, makes for VERY nice eye candy! Flirting on the edge of juvenile delinquincy. Seems like daddy should have been more liberal in the use of the slipper on her naughty behind.
If you pause the video at 4:43 and look at the close up of Oliver Reed, am I the only one who sees a resemblance with Rob Lowe?! Really random I know but still!!
Bit of rubbish info for you: Oliver Reed was the nephew of Carol Reed, the film director and probably how he got into films in the first place. Just before Beat Girl was made Jim Dale (of Carry-on fame) made a demo record for Oliver Reed to emulate, but Reed couldn't hack it, I'm told by someone who worked at Pinewood Studios in those days.
Your video clip is great and I've rated it as awesome. Please check out mine on some trading cards of 1960's chart topping stars: Elvis Presley, Adam Faith, Cliff Richard, Billy Furry, Frank Sinatra, Lonnie Donegan, and Shirley Bassey.

Sixteen-year-old Gillian Hills really knew how to make herself the center of attention, didn't she? The camera loved her.

Not surprising, if his singing was anything like his vocal performance fifteen years later in "Tommy."

He drank the rest of his life to try and forget the way he dances and the stupid expression on his face, looks like his filling his pants.
