i think you would be better to go with the 9600gt as it has 512mb of video memory and because the 8800GT isnt much faster.

Though if i were you, id get a Radeon HD 4850. Thats an awesome card and is very inexpensive (cheaper then a 8800GT i think). And is also quite a bit faster then the 8800GT.

it will run in any Mobotherboard as long as it's got a PCIe x16 slot

There's a lot of rage going on about PCIe 2.0 cards not working in PCIe 1.0 slots and only in 1.1 slots and of course 2.0 slots but the truth is All PCIe 2.0 cards are backwards compatible, they will work aslong as the CHIPSET supports them

lol when they were benchmarking hl2 episode 2 it was the console version, you can see the way he was looking around, very slow and fluid, that's not possible on a mouse, unless you have robotically tuned arms that can move so smoothly that it looks like you're using an analog stick

the best 9600 card is the xfx xxx alpha dog edition everything can be maxed out and it can easily be overclocked to 800mhz i have even overclocked it to 900mhz with my case open and your average home fan aimed at the GPU and it doesnt everheat after hours of gameplay. if you download system share software you can upgrade it from 512mb to having 2gbs of ram but you have to have 8gbs of ddr2 800mhz to do that :D

make sure the cards are installed securely and that there isnt any dust in either slot. sli bridge might be broken? these are all logical tips. ive never even worked with sli. :D

this is the economic alternative 4 8800 gt, i have one 9600 and its great and u can play all games to high details/resol, but i recomended the 8800 gt have more stream processors is bigger than this card.

just upgraded from an 8600 gt to this and saw some pretty drastic performance increases. Running a e6750 @ 3.0 ghz and 2 gigs patriot. Gets a solid 60 FPS on TF2 (all maxed, 1600 x 1050), avg 50 FPS on COD4, and 100+ FPS on DoD:S and CS:S. Got mine from Newegg and it came with free CoD4. Idles at around 45-48 C in my Antec 900, 61 is the highest i've seen it go after a few hours of CoD4. Card is 10.25 inches long, so beware of your case size!

the thing not to many people know is that there are two (2) xfx 9600gt xxx Alpha dog Edition. There is the 740 mhz core clock card as shown in this video, But there is a 700 Mhz core clock card that is Alpha Dog edition.

There on xfx's website. I bought the 740 Mhz, but got the 700 Mhz. But the 700Mhz card is still nice. at 1080 X 768 With All setting to high, The 700 Mhz card get 30-35 fps.

The Card us very nice though. I would recomend this. At least the 740 mhz card.

It tends to be best to get the same cards for SLI. If you do get this I would recommend overclocking you PNY up to that same speeds as the XFX XXX so it performs to it's full potential.
