  • To anyone who gets frustrated with the middle two (like me), tape them down :3

  • How do I add to an existing choker necklace I have already started, and like the design of?

How do I add more string/yarn? Thank you!!

  • HOW DO YOU HOOK THE NECKLACE TOGETHER? YOU CUT THE LOOP OFF OF ONE END.

  • I searched up how to become unpopular and I found this. Thanks for the vid!

  • @theawesomestawesomer hahahahahahahahahahaha

  • I'd be helpful if you mention that if you alternate the starting sides of the knots you'll end up with a straight chain

  • Wonderful tutorial. I do have a question, does macrame have to be made with hemp? Are there any other kinds of string one can use for this type of craft? I have a ton of yarn, this is why I'm asking, lol.

  • what if you don't have any Scissors?

  • 1:30 and that's how you make a noose for a mouse

  • 1:41 I HAVE THAT SAME RING HOLDER! :O

  • How does one become a water ballon?

  • I want to learn this, so I can make all of my clothing myself.

This will be used for a belt.

  • It is best practice to have the top loop hanging on a hook attached to a wall, with the middle strings attached to a small weight to keep them straight and taut. Also, it may pay you to wear surgical gloves or some such, as you WILL get chafed and blistered if you are a beginner. I know, and I had to learn the hard way. (Not bad for a guy, huh?) However, your way can be the best way, once you get the hang of it. Once you get going, you just want to keep going, and going, and going.

    Good Luck!

  • @goldenscales cheers for the heads up on the hook and weights. As far as gloves go, I'm gonna skip them, the callouses I have from knitting (guy also) are a source of pride :)

  • @jevonbargen Us guys can do Anything! Booyah!

  • But if you use gloves eventually you'll get tired of them and you're skin will chafe anyway :o

Better to get it over with sooner than later. XD

  • @kragier So true.

  • thanks!!

  • Do you have examples of Joesephine knots? I have been doing this type of jewelry since 2006 and am trying to learn to do the josephine knots nicely. Also, in this example, how do you fasten the necklace?

  • my last project I did my GAZABO PLANT LAMP the project that took 2nd place at the county fair in 1982,,,it had over 3000 knots and took me about 36 hours to make,,you place a plant in the cradle which is the bottom and theres a light fixture at the top I also made a small one with a light in it its just a plant lamp both hang,,but I cant remember the steps of the gathering cord,,,

  • I used to do macrame when I was in high school I even took 2nd place at the county fair with my project back in 1982 when I was 18 years old (yes Iam a guy) but over the years I havent done macrame in a long time,,I have forgotten how to do the gathering cord,,I made a bunch of plant hangers,,used nylon cord,,did projects like marys braids and village belfrey,,and others,,last one I did was a GAZABO PLANT LAMP,,but I cant remember how to do the gathering cord

  • That's just the way it is......Nothing could ever be the saammmee. Anyone else that couldn't help but sing along thumbs up love this instructional video keep up the good work

  • this was REALLYYYYYYYYY confusing,,, put this over this and that over that then waterballoon.... HUHHHHH!!????

  • It looks like you're using hemp for this, and I was just wondering; would this technique would work equally well with other types of string, such as waxed cotton cord, yarn, leather cord, embroidery thread, or twine?

  • One maharani taught papier-mâché and macramé techniques to me , so I am so glad.

  • Can you use 3 strings to macrame?

  • Thank you ... so great ... i could do it on my own with the first try ... do you have more instruction videos or could make more ... Mahalo and Aloha, Angelina Pau hana

  • I bet you can make mittens with macramé

  • I bet too she can make mitts and even gauntlets with macramé

  • Thanks for doin this video! The only question I have is, how do you actually wear this piece? Do I need to buy clasps to attach to the ends, or is there a way to tie the ends together after putting it on?

  • Thanks, good job. Very imformative!

  • if i want to put on more than one what do i do

  • Well mine doesn't look like yours :( It looks pretty but so different jeeje

I don't know what am i doing wrong

It's supposed to be 1over the others, then 4 under the 2 and 3....There i have the circle. After that well that thing i don't know how to explain it jaja so ¿What is wrong?

I do the same but the result is different wee

  • Great video! I did this first try. Thank you!

  • When you are finished with the necklace how do you tie it around your neck with the loop end and knot end?

  • This is useful if you have A LOT of time on your hands and find some string. Desert Island, prison cell, holding facility, and school (which is basically a holding facility/prison, so I guess it would fall under that too) come to mind. :D

  • How to you finish the ends so you can wear the necklace? Tx :)

  • lovely name 4 necklace

  • o: I've done macrame before... at camp! =D

  • but what do you do if you dont want to have it in a spiral??? i want to have it nice and straight but it wont stay like that!!!

  • I am 10 years old and i am trying to desighn my own clothing company and trying to learn how to make jelerewy and i learned something new thank you for making this video i really liked it.

  • @littlemissydada 10 yrs old?

  • This was the BEST video for me to learn! Do you happen to also have a video on how to make a friendship bracelet? I'd really like to know how to do that too.

  • how do u end the knot?

  • I used to macrame all the time as a child. We used four or more strings, even number though and a corboard to pin the top of the strings in place. However, we did not always just use the outside strings to tie the knots. We would somehow rotate them, but my memory is a little hazy on exactly how we did it. Mostly, I remember making hanging flower pot holders and belts. I will have to ask my older sister, she did it way more than I did. Thanks for the memories. Aww, the sixties.

  • I believe that it is called a square knot.

  • @BLT365 no its called macrame

  • @BLT365 Actually, I think it's a spiral knot because the square knot is left and right and the spiral knot is always the right or left side in the front. That's why is spirals. ;)

  • Hi!

Do you know the name of this knot??

    Thanks for this video...

  • thanks , u saved me! :)

  • This was really clearly demonstrated. I have tried macrame before in the past and gotten discouraged, but I am excited to try again after watching your video. Thanks so much!!

  • wow for guy like me that likes heavy metal, this is pretty interesting. thank you

  • Great instructions, thank you!

  • I have been looking for something like this, Thank you. You are a nice person and a great instructor.

  • nice country voice c:

    at 5:11

  • thanks alot for the info....

  • how do u justify length

  • I usually use about 2 -2 1/2 feet of cord or string. Its better to have too much sting than to have too little when your trying to make a necklace and run out and have to tie more string on to finish it. That happened to me alot when i was first starting out.

  • Great job!...I have a book I was trying to learn out of...it wasn't working. This helped. Thank you!

  • good enough for a poke

  • tnx

  • thanx!

  • gracias!!! thank you!
