Fun with a Prophecy

I had one back in December 2009-early 2010. I sold it and now I am getting vintage 1973 Gibson SG Special with mini-humbuckers. I hated that I let it go and now I am trying to another one used. One of the best SG's out there for the money and can compete with a Gibson SG any day. Good hot pickups on this guitar and nice finish too. I like this guitar better than the version with active EMG pickups, since I more of a simple passive pickup guy.

I almost got this guitar, got the LesPaul Prophecy GX instead (extra meat) It was a toss up tho. Both are gorgeous! Slim neck feels great to my short stubby fingers, the big frets are great now that I'm used to them. These Dirty Fingers pups are GREAT! The coil tap is very useful, tons of tonal variety to suit the mood. The black cherry finish with the gold hardware is HOT! I've spent enough time just looking at mine too, so I hear you, brother! Nice chops! Rock on!

@meatitarian .Yes I think these Prophecies are the best thing Epiphones done in some time. I've played the Paul too and it is nothing short of amazing,,Gives the overpriced Gibsons a serious run for the money..I've kinda got the Les paul thing covered though (i've got a 1968 Gibson custom and a 1977 Ibanez copy)So i went for the SG cuz i knda got the SG bug after getting a Korina Epiphone G-400. Now i think the Epi 1960 re issue Pauls might need some looking into,,they look hot. Rock On !!

I have to agree with Maniak. Out of all the Gibsons, Ibanez and Epi's. My Prophecy GX W/Dirtyfingers pups is still my favorite go to guitar. It makes great clean tone, blues tone and all out rock n roll. In the the hands of a maestro like Maniak just makes it even more appealing if that is possible.

nice playing i am going to get that guitar but in the les paul shape in about 2 months from videos i have seen of people playing them hay seem like a very nice guitar.

Just bought this same git from MF, tracking says it should be here Thursday. I just hope it gets here in one piece. We all know UPS is soooo careful with large boxes.

@bspurlo The neck is a slim taper type ,,nice and thin and its a satin finish so it feels unbeliveable,,very fast!!

which flyod rose tremelo could u recommend me for "Epiphone SG Prophecy GX Model".

and if might be needing to install any locking tuners, which one should i use.

I have this flyod rose model in mind, is this one adjustable- " Graph Tech Ghost LB-63 Floyd Rose Bridge with Piezo Pickups " . After watching your video, I don't Think i'll be thinking about any other model or brand, but SG.

to about any Gibson SG USA guitar and rocks the socks off Angus signature SG The Dirty Fingers pickups make the Angus Sig. SG sound like a toy!

Holy crap, awesome video man, I'm considering getting one of these because my old guitar is a bit... broken. Are these good for amatuer players, I'm 16 atm and im planning on buying one that will last me a few years through 6th form and university and i'm a big AC/DC fan so i want a guitar that can play good rock music on.

thanx alot,,any comment that starts off with "holy crap"is a nice compliment in my book,,how did you find me??Were you searching for Prophecies?? They are awesome..and i totally recomend them for anyone who wants a great sounding,looking,and playing guitar. Not exactly cheap (mine ran about $660 U.S.) But they are sooooooooo worth it. If they said gibson on the headstock,,,,theywould probab;y cost $1800. I say,,GO FOR IT!!!!

yeah in think im gonna get one, i can get it for £430 and i've been meaning to get a new guitar even before my old one broke. My other guitar is a plain ole Epiphone SG and i wanted something with a little more bite to it.

the dirty finger pickups that come with guitar what sort of playing styles do they suit?

i play nu-metal, grunge and some grind core i just dont if it would suit my playing sounds?

becuase i confused wether to get the sg prohecy ex with the emg 81 and 85 pickups with it.

but this gx looks soooo nice with the red murky effect to its body and the gold hardware really stands out from the croud!

The dirty fingers p-ups toatlly rule in my book,,they are a very high out put but they let the Character of the guitar through if that makes any sense. Alot of nu metal guys favor the EMG's but to me all EMG equipped guitars sound the same you could put emgs on a 2 by 4 and ge,,t that sound. i guess the bottom line is ,,you have play em both and decide form there,,,which ever one you pick I'm sure you'll be happy,,,they've really outdone themselves with this line ,,,good luck,,,keep me posted

i have the dirty fingers in mij gx en they are awesome this weekend we had a gig the guitar i had it for a houre and ik used it as my main guitar its just awesome buth for metal tha string's are important i plai heavy metal en other style's of metal with ernie ball 10-46 buth yeah gx would really suit you

Ive never owned a satin finish neck till this one and i'd have to say ,,its making it difficult to play all my other guitars now.Its strange ,,it started out great but its getting better the more i play it
