It should be expected, yes. In wilderness areas I'd suggest asking a ranger or someone who knows if there's anything you should know, and read signs entering the park and at stops.
The bears there even know what coolers look like, but their smelling is like 10 times better than a bloodhound anyway. It probably took him no time at all to find out there was food in that car and less than 2 minutes to get to it.
Try to think of it as a scavenger finding food though more than an attack. :)
Pretty crazy! We had a few bear sighting in the valley also. Apparently this kind of thing happens very often at Yosemite. First time I've ever seen something like this first hand even after ten or so trips to Yosemite...
Tho u can't see it on the video, u'll probably recall my back plate had "vote Pierce and Ford" around it
I gave my car to that newlywed couple for their summer honeymoon across America. WOW
Guess that'll need to be replaced indeed...
Thank you for posting... this is... a little more damage than was described, but in their defense they weren't there to see the full rath, and at least were brave enough to tell me a bear ate their food outta my car.
Well if you leave food in your car yes this will happen.
