Zaranyzerak how can PC video games that are on DVD ROMS be able to have 1080p as a resolution when DVD's are not high definition formats as you've said before o_O?
@soul71000 movies on DVD's are written for DVD players, making the movie around 4Gb. When you burn .avi files on a DVD, you can fill it with around 5-6 movies (but most DVD players can't read that). Games is an entire different story, that is just a program executing on a high resolution (excluding the fact that you install a game from a DVD before playing it). You can make a program of 1Kb that is 1080p, but (for example) just a black screen with a dot moving around.
@jetpack1986 Not in the budget. The integrated graphics on the motherboard are fine for now. I don't do a lot of PC gaming anyway, so that can wait a bit.
this made me feel so good about my build i7 950 gigabyte x58a-ud3r corsair hx 650 coolermaster 902 gts 450 oc 6gb ddr3 1600 mhz ram nec dvd burner tt contact 29
@Zaranyzerak Oh that's very reasonable for a fast computer like that one. Thank you for the videos, I'll definitely watch your process of building a computer.
@ICanFlyHonest The only difference with the OEM version is you don't get any fancy packaging or documentation (other than a basic installation manual in the DVD case). Otherwise, it's exactly the same with the same support as the non-OEM version. It's still Windows, no matter what kind of package it came in.
@Zaranyzerak actually the OEM has a downside in EULA license! you're only allowed to install it to only ONE computer! and that computer is the motherboard! so whenever you feel like changing the motherboard consider another retail windows software!
Ahh... The pleasures of DIY systems integration... Or was that "Argh!!!"
I admit it's a lot fun when you have the time to custom pick every last nut and bolt and immensely satisfying to have all components up and running after all is done. New mobo's with everything built-in offer no challenge compared to the old days.
@DennisGimbergsson I do show the products. Several times. Oh but I'm TERRIBLY sorry, I didn't realize you spoke for the entire world (psst! You don't). My video. I'll show what I want, thanks. It's as much about me as it about the contents of the packages.
@DaveSimonH Nah, I never bother with partitions. Never really saw the point of it, to be honest. To me, that's just limiting the amount of space you have for things...I like to have ALL the space available to me at ALL times so I can cram data into every last byte of it... :) I keep things in their own directories, that's organized enough for me.
@daniellandgrens Yes, because most editing/animation software doesn't use graphics cards for processing - it's all based on the CPU power and RAM. So while a kick-ass graphics cards would make gaming and watching HD movies a bit slicker, it really would have much (if any) impact on the video editing stuff I do.
@dogincat12 Definitely! I like knowing that I have total control over every single piece that goes into it. Plus I made sure to get a board that would allow for plenty of upgrades over the years.
@recorps1 Integrated. The old card was an AGP card, and there's only PCI-Express on the new board. The integrated graphics are ATI Radeon HD 4200 with the AMD 785G Chipset.
Do you know a video editing software that can use the gpu as co processor? Just asking because unless such exists putting an expensive video card on a system made for Video editing doesn't offers much. Hell next upgrade probably will be memory right?
Through CUDA even non Quadro cards can add their Power. True such is to be said but hey :) there is place enough for upgrades like that in the future.
Hell I remember going from a P4 over to a AMD X2 3200+, yup the first payable dual core pretty much. Damn multiple cores work!
Wheres the graphics card? If the motherboard has onboard graphics Id sugges not using them for medium-high games or demanding applications. You can get a good card say a ATI 4650 or a 5650 for about $40-50
@Lethalcleric Wasn't in the budget. Graphics card is a luxury item, I was only concerned with getting a fast, functional system on the cheap. Plus no AGP slot on this MoBo, so I couldn't use my old card anyway. But it doesn't really matter, since the onboard graphics are better than my card. I'm not a big PC gamer, so it really doesn't make a big difference to me. Video rendering is all CPU-based.
Congrats on the new system build. Just a heads-up - you mentioned thermal paste for the Cooler Master heatsink/fan - well, since your CPU is a retail version it actually comes with a decent-enough stock heatsink/fan combo with "thermal pad" that sits between the heatsink and CPU, saving a need for separate thermal paste.
I have the same motherboard! And as I said in a previous video comments, I have Athlon II x4 620 processor. I also have 4GB RAM and 1.5 TB HDD. We really have very similar PCs. :) At least I can brag that I have BD-ROM and you don't. :P
I don't your level of tech sav, but first thing I would do is get those parts off the carpet. Last thing you want is to have to return some parts due to esd. Hope everything goes well!
@gatsu08106 Nah, static electricity is rarely an issue here. The air isn't dry enough. Plus as you'll see I'm very anal about dis-charging whenever I'm handling computer parts.
@yellowflash345 What? Where??? Oh, I get it. I've downloaded the demo, waiting to play it until I can do a First Impressions vid for everyone. Hopefully next week some time.
