  • Yeah ...Kurt cobain had said that he listened to a lot of Black Sabbath. The song You Know Your right sounds slightly sabbath..ish. I think thats the name of the song? I was reading JosephKuby's comments..

  • Jake left Rough Cutt to join Dio first then onto Ozzy

  • @kikiki4592 did Jake record anything with Dio? That would be tight as fuck!

  • If this is not Jake, the guitar player sure plays fills like him. Listen to that right hand speed while muting---one of my favorite Jake-isms. Listen to "Slow Down" for example. Completely awesome. I will ruffle some feathers, but Bark and US are, in my lowly opinion, some of the most creative guitar work Oz ever allowed to be released.

  • @bdgreg any tips on how to play like him,hes my guitar idol, but i cant find much info on his style online

  • This also sounds a little like "You Think You're Tough" on Ratt's debut album! Somehow I don't think that this is a coincidence... am I wrong?

  • Jake said in an interview that the only time he recorded anything with Mickey Ratt (Ratt) was in Stephen Pearcy's garage on a crappy tape recorder. So is this from that tape? Because this might not be Jake.

  • @tikia112 @tikia112 yep but this from stephen pearcys site the album was titled garage tape dayz...also theres a interview on ratt here titled the mickey ratt era with stephen pearcy which he did state that jake e lee played on this track

  • @tikia112 this definitely sounds like its recorded in a basement thats for sure. I mean listen to the sound of the room...its almost completely dead in there.

  • Jake left Ratt and formed Rough Cutt with a few members from Ratt. He joined Rough Cutt because one of the members had a connection with Ronnie James Dio, which was the gig Jake wanted. He eventually did hook up with Dio but didn't last long. He helped write a couple of tracks on Dio's first record, but his parts were replaced by Campbell. He went back to Rough Cutt from there and then evenutually joined Ozzy.

  • I saw no photos of Jake E.Lee at all,I think people are getting Ratt's former bass player Juan Crocier mixed up with Lee,they both look a lot alike

  • @motleycrue24 I didn't say he played with them, said I believe it was Dana who told Ozzy about Randy. Jeez, read first, comprehend, then reply.

Lol, just kidding, but I think you misunderstood what I said about Dana Strum.

  • @badaml about Jake, lol, no edit button!

  • I'm so glad he left and they got Warren. Warren's style just fit the band really well. I don't think they would have gotten big with Jake

  • jake is god..who is warren??????????? i never heard of him before is he a famous guitar player?

  • surely you jest

  • I am old lol. Interview from years ago in Guitar FTPM, Jake was very candid about his experience and events leading up to his joining Ozzy. Also siad he had to borrow money to buy thae albums so he could learn the songs to audition. He apparently mixed up crazy train and I don't know during the audition due to them being similar and in the same key.

  • cool track really dig the riff

  • JAKE IS GOD

Come back and kick ass to other's please !!!!

  • GOD ID GOD jake is just a great guitarist.

  • Thank you. All this "so and so is God" everywhere is obnoxious.

With "AMAZING" being a close second in exageration that makes me want to choke people.

  • thought it was mickey ratt rough cutt dio ozzy badlands

  • Jake E Lee left Ratt to join DIO, who then informed Jake a short while later that Vivian Campbell was to be the guitarist. After going on an alcoholic binge, Jake E Lee then auditioned for Ozzy.

  • how do you know he went on an alcoholic binge? haha

  • @badaml and the bass player of (savatage?) who also had told ozzy about randy, was the one who told ozzy about jake. if he hadn't told him about jake, ozzy would have picked george lynch. how weird would that be!

  • @RushedFatality I think it was the bass player from Slaughter actually. Dana Strum?

  • @badaml -Dana Strum actaully started in Vinnie Vincents Invasion, with Mark Slaughter.....and is now in Vince Neils solo band.

  • @djxtreme03 Yeah, well aware of that. I NEVER SAID Dana Strum played with Ozzy or Jake, I said he is the one who got Jake and Ozzy together.

  • @badaml Dana Strum introduced Randy Rhoads to Ozzy.

  • @blady6x ya your correct..i think i read that in the dirt...but if your into readin bio's should go out and get blotzer's new book

  • IS THERE ANY VIDEO FOOTAGE OF JAKE E. LEE WHILE HE WAS PLAYING FOR (MICKEY RAT OR RATT) ? IF SO PLEASE LET ME KNOW SEND IT TO ME @ merishane on you-tube !!!!!! c/o CSC/09 IN LYNCHBURG V.A. (U.S.A.)

  • The drummer sucks big monkey penis.

  • I think the drummers very talented...

  • Well, ok. I should be so mean.

They were young. It just sounded like his timing was off, like he's trying to play more than he is comfortable with and it's a little sloppy.

  • @johnsmdm The drummer, thats my buddy Rockin Dave Alford. He put the band together, VH1 don't show it because it was pre-record deal. Check out Rough Cutt Black Widow Live, that was MTV's 1st Live Concert, 500,000 people there. Also on myspace with two bands Kryme and Mod Ev that are all his.

    Peace.

  • I like Ratt more than Mickey Ratt but this is still good.

  • YOUR kidding right? Rough Cutt was a damn good band. Jake E. Lee was amazing with Ozzy and Badlands.

  • you are your moms mistake XD

  • HAHAHA WHAT? jake e lee left and joined ozzy osbourne

  • he actually left to join rough cutt then left them for ozzy

  • @motleycrue24 Jake in Rough Cutt? Tell me more.

  • Song is awesome, guitar riff kicks serious ass.

  • Tell me about it.

I think Ratt's career could have been rejuvenated in 1999 had they re-enlisted the services of former rodent, Jake E. Lee.

Commercially, it would have made for a viable decision but artistically, it was the only way to make up for the absence of Robbin and Juan.

Unfortunately, the remaining three members were too convinced by the 1991-idea of Ratt being a four piece.

If you listen to Nobody Rides for Free, it's obvious that they still needed to have a rhythm guitar part.

  • The intro is so freaking cool!

  • I know, the intro KICKS! I love the slow build up and the sudden explosion of the guitars at around 1:18

  • It's amazing but this actually sounds a lot like '70's Judas Priest, even the vocals. And that's definitely not a bad thing. Good song!

  • Coincidentally, Ratt used to play a lot of Priest covers back in the day.

  • Jake E Lee shouldnt of put down the Guitar, man I miss his sound.

  • I agree. I can't believe they've settled for the Quiet Riot guitarist now.

Carlos is a good guitarist but he was never as classic as Randy Rhoads.

Artistically and commercially, a better choice would have been Jake. He was crucial in getting Ratt established as an entity that could be taken seriously. He was Warren's friend and taught him extra guitar tips too.

Another suitable candidate would have been Mike Schenker given his stint with Ratt on MTV's Unplugged and in the Las Vegas shows.

  • @JosephKuby Don't ever underestimate Carlos as a guitar player. I did, but luckily my band in the 90's opened up for Quiet Riot 3 times and let me tell you, Carlos is a killer. You can tell he was subdued by the QR producer on the albums because he really does rip it up live. His sound is cool too, he usually uses 2 Marshall stacks, 1 completely dry and the other with effects, at least when we played with them he did. He also used this setup with the Hollywood Allstars, who I've seen up close.

  • what do you mean when did he put it down?

  • This is fucking awesome...that bassline at the beginning is tight as fuck!!!

  • oooooooooooh, yeah, tight as fuck man yeah......!

  • Pretty good tune, the riffing sounds as Black Sabbath.

  • so who took his Jake K Lee place in the band?

Cuz i know it was Warren Demartini and Robin who played later, but didn't those 2 switch lead and rythme off and on?

  • demartini and crosby are both lead....

  • oh yea u can tell its Jake E. Lee on guitar. to bad he doesnt want to play anymore

  • Stephen, although a bit flat, sounds so much better singing in his lower register. Thanks for the blast!

  • first time i listen to this track and it ROCK !! what happen to these kind of music ?

  • Grunge!

  • @heinz454, ...and I thought I was the only one to notice that Ratt were the first band to do grunge. You can detect it f you listen to the debut EP (specifically the 1983 version and especially the European version which has the pre-Cellar version of You're in Trouble).

Even though grunge became media's way of referring to the Seattle punk scene, I've come to think of grunge as "easy-listening doom metal" or a radio-friendly Sabbath (Cobain said Nirvana was Sabbath meets Bay City Rollers).

  • I listened to this song for the first time!!

I like this song!! THANK YOU^o^

  • Great,thanks 4 posting. RATT 4ever!

  • uhhh...nostalgia is cool, but u shoud've broken out more of the old "hit parader" and "kerrang" magazine scans or a couple of clips to keep us a bit more interested. ;)
