@afy282 Do you mean the juvenile (at 3:00)? I was not able to follow the complete development until the adult form, but from this point on they basically grow and their skeleton gets thicker. In the video the juveniles are 0.5mm wide, but the adult of this species can reach up to 30cm! They might take decades to grow this big. Other species are smaller and have a shorter life cycle.
Thank you for having about the only thing on the internet about actual Sea Biscuits, and not the stupid horse in the movie. I finally have something to work with for my Zoology lab on Echinodermata.
@mizzmerissa83 Great :) did you try looking for "sand dollar"? You might find something (but also necklaces and other decoration artifacts made of their skeleton...).
can any one tell me if the animal in this clip is under porifera, or under cnidaria. need to know for a report thank you XD

I have a question, how did the sea-urchin like larvae at the end of this video end up being flattened to a sea biscuit?

Hey, what is this a commercially important species?
rhymepays 2 years ago
@rhymepays I don't think this species is used commercially. Take a long time to grow and it is too bony to be eaten...
