i love how everybody freaks out over stuff like this, a 305 isn't worth rebuilding, they cost more then a 350 because nobody rebuilds them, i probably wouldn't blow it up, but i wouldn't waste my time rebuilding it. i'd rip that fucker out and drop a throttle body 350 in, a very common swap for these trucks. but i wouldn't smash all that shit with a hammer, you could re use those parts in the future.

So give us a little more info. How many miles were on the motor when you bought it? Did you have another engine setting to the side ready to go in it?

Most likely that engine could have been rebuilt as long as it hasnt been rebuilt before and bored out above 30 over.

The way you pegged the rpms out I can only imagine that oyu had another engine complete with all accessories ready to go.
