  • really good he is quite fast for his age.

  • I'll see him this Saturday in Croatia ...

  • damnit i just got a boner

  • Always love the blue glasses.

What brand of drums are these or what brand does he play, lately?

  • @biggstile Ian plays Pearl drums and Paiste cymbals.

  • Thumb's up if while you were listening your feet going crazy....!

  • The more I see drummers from the 1970s and '60s like Ginger Baker, Neil Peart, and Ian Paice and Carl Palmer continue to soar on at the top of their game, the more I wish I could've seen what Bonzo would be like today if he were still alive.

  • @jetfreak4 You can't imagine how many times I have thought the same and feel immense sadness at his loss. Led Zeppelin are my all time favourite band and Bonzo will always have a special place in my heart. Ian is great though - in fact wonderful.

  • awesome drummer and that is why he,s played for garymoore he,s amazing

  • Ian Paice everyone!!!

  • Ian Paice as you ever seen and heard him on Youtube OvalBin channel!

  • The day Ian dies, damn, I'ma get a tattoo with his name across my chest. :<

  • Maga az isten bal kézzel 32

  • Freakin amazing !

  • I seen him and I met him after the show. He's just one of the best drummers ever, and from some points of view, he may be even the best one.

  • In 3:05 how he does it with one hand?

  • Ian Paice and Carl Palmer are the two best drummers to come out of the 60's and they still play on!!!

  • Просто кроссавчег!

  • Actually this drum solo comes from the song "SPEED KING" from the album "DEEP PURPLE IN ROCK" i have this album and of course the DVD call"DEEP PURPLE PERIHELION TOUR LIVE AT SUNRISE THEATRE MIAMI (FLORIDA) ON 05-06-2001"

  • @ugopk1994 there is no solo in speedking apart from in live songs

  • My all time favorite.

  • what group does he play with?

  • @MightyMerold Deep Purple, of course! :)

  • Grande

  • watch?v=wBEHx_2Pe2I

  • His solo style is very differrent from Early 70's and 80's

more relax, more Technique not fast and furious as his old days

  • Ok ian .. You Are the best ever!!!!

  • Ian rocks. The heart and heartbeat of one of the most classic bands, "Deep Purple"-

  • He is the best....The first in my list with Cozy Powel. They are both awsome.

  • die drum solos von Ian Paice sind die besten der welt und daran wird so schnell niemand was ändern können.

Ian Paice ist aus meiner sicht der beste drummer der welt

  • whos that drummer wanker

  • just a bunch of rudiments... nothin we havent seen before.

  • Great player, great guy, but no match for drummings new "big thing",

    ray 3 hands snow..

  • Travis Barker?

  • @JoeJacari sucks

  • Santa just showed us his drum chops right here

  • I rest my case, no point in me talkin when God has spoken.

  • watch this Buddy Rich tutorial and you'll see why, my friend.

    Match grip my arse!!!

  • This man through a video he was kind enough to make on rudiments essentially got me to the next level of drumming with the sticks. I learned how to play single, double, and triple paradiddles, as well as the drumroll, and derive much of my playing style from him as well. In short, I worship this guy. He is one of my favorite drummers, if not my favorite, and certainly among the greatest rock drummers in history.

  • Woah. left-handed.

  • He always reminds me Ozzy Osbourne with those glasses.

  • Paice was my main inspiration 35 years ago. Followed by Bonham. A few things you need to know if you wanna be a crack rock drummer...

    1. Study & practice rudiments

    2. Study & practice syncopation

    3. Study & practice jazz

    4. Tune your snare high so that you get rebound

Most rock drummers fail in most or all of the above.

  • @ozBiz2 Great advice...All the greats can play jazz. Even when they are playing straight rock somehow it's in there. Even Nikko McBrain can throw down the jazz licks. Or as my Great grandpa used to call it "Jass". Then the clubs started using zz's cause people were blocking out the "J" making the billboard's read "ass". True story.

  • he's lefty? like me!!! theres few left-handed drummers♥

  • nice snare drum solo. what about the set?

  • A one handed drum roll near the end - incredilble. Makes you want to give up even trying to be a drummer

  • Shit I gotta go practice my rudiments now !!!!

  • ian paice il dio della batteria

  • Master snare roller, despite the match grip.

  • @peterperry268 What's wrong with match grip. If you ask me, it's just as effective as traditional grip.

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssssssssoooooooooooooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

  • He likes the snare a bit too much...

  • Thanks for the upload, LordMalicius ! Good ole Ian !

  • One the Heavy metal inventors !!!

    Master... Master !!!

  • Not only one of the best drummers in rock history, but he's still doing this at the top of his game from 1968 to today. 42 years at the top. Awesome. Who else can compete with that? Correct. No-one.

  • @lukedean999 I agree, Luke ! Ian is one the best with all the attack of a rock drummer + the refinement of jazz drummers. Drum solos in rock come from the jazz tradition, Buddy Rich et al - one of the most super drum solos I've heard is his off The Mule - Made in Japan. But anyway, he is simply one of the best !

  • Comment removed

  • @lukedean999 i think bonham would win that compeition,if he was alive

  • @lukedean999 this is ture...and I have seen even better solo from Ian Paice than this one...

  • @lukedean999 Only Bohnam but unfortunately is not with us..

  • @lukedean999 buddy rich

  • @lukedean999 ....niel peart can buddy

  • @lukedean999 joey jordison, in 2010 , joey was awarder best drummer in the past 25 years; beating neil peart, phill colllins, ian paice, etc

  • @9thStreetSaints take away a double kick pedal from joey and he's nothing!!!

  • @9thStreetSaints joey plays double bass. ian plays drum set. that's all i have to say

  • @lukedean999 neil peart started with rush in '72. and im sure he played before that also

  • @150rex Hmmm well nearly but no cigar. Whilst playing professionally for a boogie band (with his dad) beforehand, I thought Paice's first single was actually with Maze at 17/18 - c.1965, when Neil Peart was still at school at 13. IP has a few years on NP, who is an amazing technical drummer I concede. And I thought Peart joined Rush mid 1974 and then played on Fly by Night. I may be wrong.

  • his snare technique is ridiculous....to me he is a master drummer

  • Comment removed

  • @TheMisterMulti i think a fair few would disagree....

  • I march with 2 hand like he does it with 1 hand o_O

  • this is my god !

  • 2:10 GRAVITY BLAST!!! XD

  • @stinkymlinky no..its called a one handed roll....

  • @ultimatefighter187 search gravity blast its the same thing

  • @stinkymlinky no a gravity blast is a one handed roll turned into a blast beat...with the kick and cymbal together.

  • This brings back depressing memories of Whitesnake concerts in the 1980s. The best time I saw them was at Doinnington 1981 when they didn't have time to do any of the self-indulgent boring solos crap, and instead got on with the music.

  • Happy a-day-late birthday!

  • I think he is the best living drummer of the world

  • @angusguitarhero You don't know Neil Peart?

  • @xBaphometHx I know Neil Peart and he is an extreme good drummer butt

I like Ian Paice a little bit more

  • @angusguitarhero I like Pearl a little bit more but I love Ian style. They are from exactly the same league.

  • Great drummer but if you consider how many years he has beaten this drumheads he should have widen his playstyle at least a little more. U never get too old to learn new stuff and improve your skill. Sure Ian has too but he never surprise you or do something unexpected. Its always the same kind of groove and snare drum paradiddle stuff. He has amazing hands and technique but thats not all drumming is about.

  • @ghoststrokes62 You are totally right. But for a rock drummer he is more than good!

  • @akisspyros He is truly a great drummer, especially when he was young and wild on the early Purple albums. I can still enjoy him because he represents a style that nowadays are almost dead. Its free and a lot of snare :-)

  • @ghoststrokes62 Yeah,Exactly :-)

  • Cool but i still think Ginger Baker is better.

  • now this is the SHIT

i god damn hate drummers, who go "i can double kick super fast, lets just do that for 2 mins and that be my solo!", people should be appreciating this stuff, and less of joey jordison.

  • best solo ever!!!!!!!!!

  • wich song is in the end

  • ok, who ever put thumbs down on this, IS retarded, this is fuckin awesome

  • lefties always make some of the best drummers ever just like Ian here

  • If I had this guy's wrists, I'd cut off my feet!

  • One of the best rock drummers ever him and Bonham one of a kind

  • One handed snare roll at 2:20 is beyond belief!

  • He could be the fastest drummer ever to keep it sounding good at the same time.

  • @nekku19 No dude Carl Palmer owns this guys ass!

  • Bonham

    Moon

    Paice

    Mitchell

    Baker

  • @ultimatefighter187 Really? I was gettin' all excited when I saw Bonham, Paice and Mitchell, but Moon?

    :(

  • @Bagurk93 why

  • @ultimatefighter187 I don't know... I never thought that Moon was that great.

  • @Bagurk93 if your speaking technique wise,...your correct but feel and unique groove he was the king...he was a natural....but i respect your opinon

  • @ultimatefighter187 Definitely! I guess I just get disappointed in the constant "Dum dum dum dum dum dum dum" of the bass drum during almost all of his solos.

  • Ian Paice is one of the very best rock drummers to have ever taken the throne! A huge and most everlasting inspiration to me personally :-)

    Love Ian Paice!!!!!

  • @margovallen i totally agree !!

  • Absolutely Fantastic ...the best in the world

    drummer2 &Machine head project

  • self taught mad mad awesome

  • man, this makes me wanna practise double-stroke rolls. unbeliveble

  • And he's a left handed drummer . One of the few. Always thought he was a great player !.

  • best drummer eva well better than me only been playing for 8 years and i am 13 :)

  • Ian Paice taught me how to play drums along with john bohnam, I used to play along to Deep Purple constantly as a kid and memorize all his incredible pocket grooves and fills... especially to the Perfect Strangers album....Love his drumming on that album... he is really unique and his snare work is top notch

  • I worked as a tech for Ian. he was not only one of the nicest guys, but his control is PERFECT. He broke a hi hat pedal in the middle of a solo, lifted his leg while I fixed it, and never missed one beat. In fact he thought I had tapped his leg to say I was done and started to go for the pedal, when he realized it wasn't the go ahead his foot GENTLY grazed my wrist and he pulled off & looked at me as if to say "Ha! I could have crippled you!" We had a nice chuckle. Ian ROCKS.

  • @byebus1 Hey, cool story. I've met Ian 3 times and he was always very gracious and a down to eath cool guy everytime. That just made me admire him even more, nobody better !!

  • @purpledude603 It's very nice when people don't get stuck up isn't it ? and they remain human beings. I can't stand people who think they're the next best thing after sliced bread ! My dad's met quite a lot of people like Eric Clapton, Chuck Berry, and they are very normal, down-to-earth people too.

  • @byebus1 Thanks for sharing this story! Ian truly rocks. As drummer and as person.

  • get off that snare!!

  • Hard-Aor Forever!

  • he looks like the father of teo....:P

  • God I love this.

  • conservcat..you obviously know absolutely NOTHING about drums, all double ,triple stroke trips & paradiddles, ...you mock him cuz you could never do it

  • This guy made a rock n roll style just as Bonham...

The two best drummers in Rok n Roll history (obviously leaving all jazz drummers their own Olympus)

  • great snare lesson ;)

  • Oohps...I mean GrandE...! Great Ian!

  • Granda Ian!

  • shit this guy is awesome .

  • try also,keith carlock,stanton moore,there cool too.

  • It's mind bending to watch him play lefty, but it's so much fun to do so--he makes it all look so easy, so seamless.

  • He is an oldschool drummer and one of the best in the world today.!!...For fuck he is 60 years,i wish i can take a piss at my own at 60..;)

  • @underhuset Carl Palmer rules this guy!

  • @underhuset got a disease?

  • bad

  • Fuck N a

That is the shit I like.

  • When I first heard Ian Paice play,I knew what instrument I had to play.

  • bonzo is better

  • cool,if you like jazz,check out joe morrello,awesome drummer,and adam nussbaum.thanks for reply,alan

  • @jukeboxjiveuk it's all about the Tony williams Steve smith and dave weckL!!!

  • is he with deep purple?

  • yes, he is a lefty drummer

  • he always was

  • Weiß jmd zufällig wie das Buch von Ian Paice heißt?

Does anyone know the titel of Ian Paice's book?

  • For speed....Palmer.....for technique......Bruford...and don't forget Roger Taylor.

  • you cant compare drummers, everyone is different, there all world class, check out stanton moore,a fantastic feel.

  • Yeaaaah, I saw him at a clinic a few years ago, he turned me onto jazz drumming.

  • Yeah, he´s a very great drummer! He´s in one line with Ronnie Tutt!

  • he is one of very few drummers that can do a one handed drum roll

  • It's just a "gravity blast"!!

  • ..?? it's 09 man, ALOT of people can do the one handed roll...now a days....mrbobo is right.....just look up gravity blast everyone and there mom has something posted up on it.......it's actually pretty easy.

  • my name's ian too (:

  • Man this guy is hot!!! The thing about him is that he plays correct rudiments. And they are so finely honed. You can't fool a snare drum. He and buddy rich and carl palmer. Kings of rudimental technique. Snare drum perfectionists. Hardest drum in the world to play correctly. So when you see a drummer soloing always grade by the snare drum work. Bravo Ian!!!!!

  • @rrdrums110 @rrdrums110 I saw Paicey at a Buddy Rich tribute concert - he said he was a fish out of water and alongside Pete Cater, he really was!! I love Paicey and I love Buddy Rich. Each have their own styles, but you cannot compare them. Ian Paice is the greatest rock drummer ever. Buddy Rich is definitely THE greatest drummer of all time. And for a rock drummer, Paicey's snare work is unbelievable. Talking of Carl Palmer, OMG he is just wicked with Atomic Rooster, his band before ELP

  • @rrdrums110 arent you forgetting tenor drums? lol theyre really tough too

  • @rrdrums110 I agree. I listen mostly to Ian, John B on YT, (along with Simon Phillips, Dennis Chambers and this guy Rick Fedyk), Truely masters of the skins.

  • este viejo toca re bien la bata

  • He is the best drummer ever lived! Also Bonham is/was awesome!
