She was mayor of a town, not a city. It was too small to be a town. All major functions of the city were controlled by the County or the State. She had very little to take care of to start with, but she couldn't be bothered with that. She hired an Assistant to the Mayor in order to handle the day by day affairs. What little she actually had control of, she screwed up. The people of Wasilla can't stand her. She left them worse off than when she got there.. Great Accomplishment.

As for being the Governor, well, she pretty much screwed that one up as well. After she bungled the pipeline deal and the refunds disappeared, her approval rating fell like a stone. Polls showed that she would not win re-election. So she went and quit. Now there's a nice track record. We won't even go into her abuse of office, improper use of tax dollars, refusal to work out of the state capital, multiple lies about her achievements, etc. I agree with Brooks.

Mr. Brooks in case you didn't watch the show she was never asked any questions on policies or politics. The whole interview was about her book and personal experience on the campaign trail. Obama was voted in purely because of American dislike of Bush policies and wars. What we have now with Obama is a big expansion of Bush policies and 2 wars. So nothing has changed except change for the worse.

David Brooks is hardly conservative, he consistently supports the "moderates" in the Republican party and is a strong supporter of gay marriage. He's a huge fan of Obama, wrote a column titled "Run, Barack, Run" urging Obama to run for President because he would "be a very good President." He also said the GOP should "distance itself from minimal-government conservative prinicples."

He's there so liberal New York Times can say they have a "conservative" columnist. Of course he hates Palin.
