  • so good! Should have put it in the movie *snaps* dangit

  • i actually prefer his version to the original cast recording. sean doesnt do the decrescendo at the end like this version. and i just love the piano :)

  • @cleverbotilism I know. I think Sean Palmer was perfect, but this recording has soul

  • I wish I knew who this was. I assume it's not Sean, Arbender or Drew.

  • @sparklypianochick haha exactly what i thought :P

  • omg loooove the piano!!!!:O and his singing is good btw:)

  • I love this song! Its so powerful and moving. It really makes u see how much eric loves ariel with all his heart. I wanna cry now!

  • This song gets me every time. I just love it SO much!

  • THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE ORIGINAL FILM!!!!! WHY DID THEY DELETE IT?!??!?! WHY?!?!?!?!?!

  • @KyrazieKlutzFrizabee because it would slow the film. It's a song for the stage, not for a film.

  • I cry every time I listen to this.

  • finally, a guy musical theater song for a young man thats not written for a tenor.

  • @TheTimrhodes93

Um, this is definitely a tenor song or at least a high baritone, sorry to burst your hopes there

  • Theyre gonna redo the musical for the european stage, focusing more on an adult audience. The new version is gonna focus more on the relationship between ariel and her father and the mutual love between ariel and Eric. Alan Menken is even writing two new songs for it!

Gotta love Stage Entertainment for revamping the Little Mermaid. It was good, but it couldve been great. Now it might be, just like they did with Tarzan!

  • I adore this song, it's so gorgeous, but it does make Ariel sound like an evil mermaid who entrances her victims...

  • Ursula disliked this twice, and Drew Seeley the other four.

  • @bbellac Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • I heard this song looking for a song to audition with this is now the song im using

  • i cant wait untill i can sing this song later in life as a tennor

  • watch part 1 and subsequent parts of this awesome movie at ?v=Jlr5v0eWsX0

  • The girl whom i like very well love the little mermaid. And then, i found that i start to love this cartoon as she does.

what an amazing song it is,i just can't stop listening it over and over again.

  • wow this guy has an AWESOME voice. sometimes i wish he would belt more but the ending was a knife through warm butter.

  • Smiles through the entire thing... this song makes me believe.

  • PLAY. BUTTON. RAPED.

  • oh gosh!!! 3:09 .... speechless!

  • Oh, god. Key change. GORGEOUS. Love the piano.

  • Shivers. <3

  • this piano is sooo amazin!!!!

  • I like the broadway version better, but this is still great!

  • ahhhh goosebumps!

  • This gave me shivers... :S

  • I think any girl wud want a guy 2 sing this 2 them. ;) thumbs up if u agree

  • @dreamerpixie My friend sang this song for an audition and he said it was about me. and he was so good i wanted to cry. it was amazing. this song is great

  • @Scudderbug15 awwwwh! that's so sweet!!!!! :]

  • oh man i get goosebumbs every time i hear this song!!!

  • oooh! goosebumps all over by the first minute..!

  • When are people going to get that THIS IS: Stephen R. Buntrock. NOT Gavin or anyone else. Stephen is also a broadway singer and recorded this demo but never got the part.

  • ahaahha that was funny

  • @john3681 I wasn't sure who this was but thanks for this comment XD It DEFINATELY is Stephen. I saw him twice in A Little Night Music and I LOVE him on the Jane Eyre CD and now I can definately tell it's him. XD

  • did they come up with new songs for the broadway?

  • I don't know about a few of the other songs, but this one was originally meant for the movie, until it was cut out of the final version. they just brought it back in the musical. ;)

  • @jusk8lp Who the hell cut this out of the movie? It is too good. Punch them for cutting it, praise the person who brought it back. But maybe they cut it out because it sounds a little obsessive and stalkerish for a kids' movie. Haha...yeah I bet that's it.... :)

  • @Iamanadultbam This was written for the stage show. It didn't exist when the movie was made.

  • ya.. they came up with really nice ones too! My favorite ones include 'the world above', 'if only', and 'beyond my wildest dream' - this is also one of my favorites, it's beautiful ~ and his voice is very pure and mature within a warm tone quality...... excellent vabrato too! :P

  • such a romantic song!!:)beautiful<3

  • Yeah, he´s found his true love ... it´s an outstanding song.

  • Ok I don't know if this is true but the demo is supposedly sung by Gavin Creel & Kerry Butler. I know Kerry actually did but Im not sure if Gavin did. Does anyone know?

  • I'm pretty sure this is Gavin. :) <3

  • @Gale1543 I think Kerry and Gavin just saw If Only together

  • @broadwaysweetie sang. my bad, mistyped XD

  • this is amazing i loveit :)

  • I honestly think the demo version is the bes version. The singer is brilliant and the piano is beautiful!

  • does anyone have the sheet music to this song?

  • something about the piano in this song makes me..idk

    want to learn it? lol

  • You've got to remember that on stage it's sung live, demo it's in a studio where things can be tweaked and they re-do things loads of times to get it sounding perfect.

While this is a lush rendition of it and it's full unlike the clips of the broadway version on here.

  • wow, this is nicer than the broadway version!!!!!

  • Call me crazy, but I think Eric is just a tad bit obsessive. The song is really good!

  • this is gorgeous. the lyrics have such meaning

  • Why are the demos so much prettier than the Broadway version?

  • @Kysentha Because the Broadway version is live and the people have to do a lot more than just sing.

  • by far, the best rendition of this song.

  • this is a beautiful song, drew seeley did an amazing cover of it, his voice is just so soothing and beautiful too! and it's more modern!

  • Great song... one of the best from the Little Mermaid.

Drew Seeley's pop version is also really good... but Drew does a wonderful job of it in the actual show (w/ the original song)

but this demo singer is really good!

  • i really love the piano in this version. they should have kept it with the final version. it just adds so much. piano is a really dramatic instrument.

  • I listened to this song to death when the demo recording came out and Ean Palmer is nowhere near as good as this guy (can't remember his name right now). My favroite piece from TLM <3

  • One of the most beautiful songs I know=)

  • he has the beautiful voice...

  • Hahah, i know how you feel ..

thers such a power to his voice that captures you ..

hah im gonna sing this about him . hahahah.

    quite amaizng

  • good song i have to do a solo dance for this song for my dance recital

  • oh my.. the piano from 27 is beautiful..

i think he's just as good as sean palmer, i thought they were the same for a while when i first heard the actual cast.

i think it'd be fantastic to be the demo singer anyways :D

  • I love this song. it's so epic.

  • Do you even know the meaning of a demo/rough track? The poor guy probably was only given one shot to record this. They don't spend much time and money on a Demo. They will on cast recordings they release to the public, they defiantly clean them up to make it nicer on the ears. And there are pirated clips on youtube where i have heard Palmer sharp so badly i wanted to cry. Live theater, Cd recording and demos are different things. and before one criticizes someones work get to know that facts.

  • I think I just died.

  • This is still my favorite version of the song done by anyone. True, I've never seen it live... but whatever. I love this guy, whoever he is. *sighs dreamily* this song is so beautiful

  • i absolutely love this song. and this guy is great too.

  • Let`s hear you sing it better.

  • it wasn't about him singing it better it was the comparison of this guy and Sean Palmer. I agree 9221964. I like Sean better too.

  • if anyone male is interested in auditioning for the youtube version of THE LITTLE MERMAID ON BROADWAY please post a video of this song... we have a cast list already but hardly any guys tried out... i'm ariel and i need my prince eric!!!! please audition!!!

  • Ok-ay.

  • You guys i am 100% certain this is Stephen R. Buntrock because he is my dad im Haley his daughter not jking

  • This is SO romantic...<3

  • Please someone tell me where i can find the sheet music i am desperate to sing it for an assesment!!!!!!!!!! Any help would be greatly appriciated - Thanks x x x

  • cool...quite romantic!

  • omg this song is so beautiful! Its the best song that was added i think....

  • missed childhood9".)

  • ariel's got huge eyes!!!!!!!!!

  • I know it's only a demo but it sounds fantasic

  • I love this song!

  • I think this is Cheyenne Jackson . . . . if you look in at the Xanadu bio's cheyenne has it listed that he was Eric in the Workshop of The Little Mermaid . . . I think this is Cheyenne sounds like him.

  • This actually Gavin Creel from Thoroghly modern Millie. Amazing voice.

  • I think it's Cheyenne too! On his website under projects it lists him as Eric in the LM workshop

  • @orangecatwoman14 I'm pretty sure this is Gavin Creel?

  • soundtrack... next tuesday!!!?! =)

  • I don't see the need for comparing...they are all good enough for Broadway and if they were so much better for the part then they would of been cast. Sean Palmer is WONDERFUL both vocally and dramatically.

  • I think I've listened to this "video" at least 20 times in the last few hours. I can't wait till the soundtrack comes out!

  • wow..... goosebumps

  • The Little Mermaid on Broadway is amazing

  • this guys voice is so hot

  • i cant wait to hear the real guy do it

  • Did the guy who's singing this get the part? He should, he sounds amazing!

  • No, unfortunately.

  • I just saw this musicals cd comes on sale February this year

  • It's Steven R. Buntrock Isn't It?

  • Awesome! I want to see it!!

  • The person singing this is Gavin Creel. He was in the original cast of Fame. He played Nick Piazza.

  • He also was the original Jimmy in TTM

  • Steven R. Buntrock is the the singer. The composer confirmed it.

  • Wow! He's better than Sean Palmer!

  • is this sean palmer?

  • Me, either! Why would they take so long to release it? They could've had it out by Christmas; the show's been on for a while, hasn't it?

  • They pushed back the opening because of the stage hand strike.

  • Oh, right! Is it over? The strke, I mean. How was it resolved, if it's over?

  • It's over.

  • YAY! How did they end it?

  • Do you have this possibly as an mp3 that you could e-mail? I would love to have a copy to listen to until the CD comes out and then I will definately be purchasing one :)

    Thanks

  • I don't :( I wish I did, but the file was on my old computer, which I replaced a few months ago. Sorry!

  • Where did you find them in the first place?

  • There was this site that had a bunch of news on The Little Mermaid musical, but I think they took down the demo tracks.

  • Damn!

  • Why would you say that it is better than Wicked? What about it brought you to this decision?

I have not seen the show yet, but I have seen Wicked and I enjoyed that show. I'm just wondering if the set design and special effects were equal or better than Wicked. Just curious as to why you would rank it as better than Wicked. Thanks for the response.

  • Lovely song. :)

  • Who is this singing? Gavin Creel?

  • Steven R. Buntrock

  • omg i love his voice <3

  • I love Sherie Renee Scott, but she's no Ursula. Ursula is supposed to be a fat witchy contralto!

That was poor casting, but everything else seems like it'll be great. Can't wait to see it. Too bad Disney can't offer a Lottery or Rush tix!!

  • Sherie brings out the comic side of Ursula which makes the show more entertaining!

  • Ursula comic? Did you even SEE the movie?

  • Excuse you, I've SEEN the movie SO MANY TIMES ever since I was a child! and Pat Carroll had funny moments which gave more dimension to Ursula! I'm not saying that Ursula should be Fanny Brice or anything! Usually, antagonists/supporting characters in musicals have a funny side! So, Sherie Renee Scott is doing her job, and she still SCARES the audience!

And you could lose your sarcasm, ztlovebird!

  • Sorry. I just never thought of Ursula as funny. I've seen the movie about ten million times, and never once did Ursula make me laugh. Well, not when she was a sea witch, at least. When she was a human, her pain was pretty funny.

  • it's okay. i found her funny when she said things like "Body Languaaage" and "My Babies...my poor little poopsies!"

  • Hmm . . . Those were the only times when she didn't seem scary for me.

  • Yeah, I never thought of her as a comic character.

  • I agree with you about Ursula, scorwitz. imo she's made the character too comic (from what I can see on YouTube clips), and her voice isn't deep enough. And she isn't fat! :(

  • BRILLIANT!

Demo cast is the best (with the exception of Sherie) I dont think Palmer is as good as Buntrock, but the demo was recored in 2003 so maybe the cast were too busy to do its broadway debut...sad

  • i want the demo cd now!

but when the obc cd comes out.....oh boy!

  • i want to see this sooo much i also love if only song from it its so beautiful i love all them i cant wait to c it wen it comes to london nxt year!!! i think it is anyway but i cant wait to c it it my fav disney film since i was 3 thanks for postingxxxx

  • I like this song, but If Only's my favorite! And I must've seen the movie ten billion times!

  • ... So... Beautiful... I wish that they had put this in the movie... No... The musical is Going to be AWESOME! I WANNA GO SEE IT!!!!!

  • Me, too! Anyone know if the CD's out yet?

  • i need to se this on stage.

  • Little Mermaid 3 is coming out in 2008! The poeple who are the chracters are: Ariel-Jodi Benson Parker Goris-Flounder Kevin Micheal Richardson-Sebastian Rob Paulsen-Eric/Swifty Kenneth Mars-King Triton(Ariel's Father) Sally Field-Athena(Ariel's Mother) Kari Wahlgren-Alana(One of Ariel's Sisters) Tara Strong-Ariel's Siters Pat Carroll-Ursula Corey Burton-Flotsam and Jetsom Danny Cooksey-Urchin Maurice LaMarche-Scuttle
  • that was made AAAAAGES ago, they're just taking their time to release it...cant wait though!!!

  • Oooooooohhhhhhhh, Eric!

He has a wonderful voice, I'm now excited more than ever for the show.

  • This is not the actor who will be in the original Broadway-cast. But Sean Palmer does also have a wonderful voice!:)

  • I really want to go to Broadway to see this one. I'm probably going in may or around that time.

  • what a beautiful song..especially the end.. I WANT IT IN LONDON!!!

  • opening night tickets<333 cant wait.

  • It's not on Broadway yet; it's still in Denver doing previews, I think (and if it isn't, then the Denver previews are finished and they're preparing for the Broadway previews in November)

  • where can i find or buy these songs?

can anyone pls message me or something?

you would help me to make a girl very happy

  • it got bad reviews but that doesnt mean it will flop. Beauty and the Beast got pretty bad reviews and it did very well.

  • My point exactly. That's the example of how critic-proof a show like LITTLE MERMAID should turn out.

One of the reasons TARZAN didn't last over a year is that it wasn't a very good Disney film to begin with.

  • The MOVIE Tarzan was okay, but you can't take a movie like that, put it onstage, and expect it to be a big hit!

  • Exactly. Little Mermaid is different.

  • Yeah; In Little Mermaid, most of the characters sang and danced. Putting the movie on Broadway just expanded on the songs that were already there. But putting Tarzan on Broadway was like starting from scratch, cause there were only two songs that the main characters sang.

  • it was incredible!!!i went the night after it first came out!

i hope TML makes it to broadway!!i shure think it will!!!

  • this is my new faveret song i have tickets for november 3 i cant wait i want to be on broudway. i have an agent shirly grant i was little tarzan on broudway this is such a good song and prins erik has an amazing voice. marcus shacknow

  • i have tickets to november 3 too! i got my tickets a while ago (but it was worth it) i heard this show is amazing

  • What are you talking about? It got horrible reviews from almost everyone, including the New York Times!

  • what are you talking about? i heard this show was amazing! and who told you it was bad?

  • You mean it's already out? I thought it wouldn't open till next year.

  • i loved when she sang to him on the shore!she was amazing!!!!!

  • this show is amazing I just saw it two nights ago here in Denver, plus it has some Boston Conservatory alumni in it.....awsome

  • so how did they do the swiming thing
