My band were gigging in Penzance on the night the lifeboat went down, the weather was horrendous,
They were brave, brave men who died risking their lives to save complete strangers, and should be remembered every time you see an RNLI fundraising box.
These men are heroes!! they should have been awarded the highest award! They dont have to go out and risk their lives for us but they do, whatever the weather. Support the RNLI guys, next time it could be you who needs their help!
it will soon be 30 years since this terrible disaster,i knew kevin smith ,he was a great friend to me,we spent many happy times together...rip kev and all your crew that perished with you on that day, your all true heroes and will never be forgotton.....
@idontsmokenow What was kevin like apart from astonishingly brave, think I would have been rather smitten if I had known him. I regularly visit Newlyn and prefere coming back than anywere else, I think it is the people.I have no connection family or freinds myself but the feeling of community is so strong.Sorry for the loss of your freind. They all were incredibly courageous men.
As a woman myself, why should it be ''women'' before men? Children first, I agree with, but as a woman, and middle aged at that, I would take my chances with the men, and not expect special treatment due to my gender!
Lifeboat crews do a fantastic job. Full on Respect to them.
Are you the author of the book - where did you obtain your information from to write the book if you dont mind me asking -what is the book called - I was on duty in culdrose ops room and in radio communication with the solomon browne on the night of the tragedy - would love to read the book.
This is another wonderfully educational video. Do you have a video about the boat that went down on Lake Superior? I can't think of the boat's name, but it's name is the title of a song. I'd love to hear this verbal story, too.
I have a lot of family living in the Penzance, and Moushole area, and one of my cousins should have been on the Lifeboat that night, but as luck would have it, his wife had a bad feeling, and hid his trousers....best thing she ever did!
Every time we visit Mousehole, we always go tot eh Lifeboat Station to pay our respects Gallant men all of them, past & present
