@Cougarsrock86 oh please!! are you fucking kidding me???? this guy sucked ass BIG TIME!! wish they could wake him up and shoot him that asshole loser!!!
@sirhelpme Hi, I am a red sox fan, but I like seeing videos of other teams just to learn more about them; never knew about Mr Kalas, but I understand he was a key figure in broadcasting at Filadelfia, and feel pretty good about him calling this WS and seeing Phillies win; just a question; why didn't he call 1980 WS ?
@johnstone2010 I read a book about that, and he said that there were MLB rules against the hometown announcers doing the broadcasts or something like that
Harry also did the "Puppy bowl" for Animal planet which can be seen on Youtube.....is there anything this man couldnt do? Love you Harry. RIP brother!
CMON PHILLY......Cubs have "take me out to the ball game", now lets start our own 7th inning stretch tradition, HIGH HOPES must be played EVERY single home game during the 7th forever!! Let it begin friday night!
Only a true Phillies fan would know what Harry did for us..Especially growing up in a home were ur the only baseball fan and all u had was the radio after cable started hogging most of the games..I didnt have to be at the game, RIch and Harry, listening to them was like watching the game. Thanks Harry for keepin me off the steets when I was young, thanx for the thousands of outta heres, thanx for that booming voice that echoed through and through thanx for making baseball a part of my life
You know about a great commentator when he just feels like part of your family.
i cried when my grandparents died
i cried when my uncle died
i cried when i found out harry kalas died
that's what he did to not just phillies fans, but just baseball fans in general. i do not know how a july evening will feel the same listening to my beloved phils being called by someone besides harry kalas. i watched the end of the game yesterday, less than 24 hours ago, and now he's gone.
True True and True......and Ill cry again when they play "High hopes" on the big screen during the 7th inning stretch Friday night (which Im assuming they will) God Bless Harry, "YOU" are theee man!
Wonderful announcer. I'm a Red Sox/Cubs fan forever, but I knew a great announcer/person when I saw'em. He was grade A all the way. I'm sorry he's gone. I'm glad the Phillies won it all while he was still there for it.
I may not be a Phillies fan, but whenever a legend passes away the entire sports world feels it. He truly was one of the greatest voices of baseball; Philly fans deserved a man like Mr. Kalas, for he was as passionate and as loyal as these fans were and still are.
And it was fitting that he got to call the final out for the 2008 Champs, he earned that privilege long long ago.
I'm not a Phillies fan but I just want to say that it's a sad day whenever a legend passes, no matter where. He meant a lot to you and I can understand you feeling sad for his passing.
At least he got to witness a world championship before going.
Yep the ole' boy went out on a high note he got to make the call for the final out that he got denied of 28 years ago and man was I happy to get to hear him say those words words we will never hear him say again unless in videos RIP Harry we are gonna miss you man!
If I had to throw a guess out there, I would have to say that brooklyn is probly an angry Mets fan that is just disgruntled and disappointed that they BLEW the season, not once, but twice in a row! Come on! Who else can blow a 12 game lead!
Local markets werent allowed to cover the world series until 1981 due to the fact that a ton of philly fans were pissed that Kalas and Whitey couldnt do the WS games in 1980
1984 not 1981 , phillie fans protested in 1980 and again in 1983 when the phillies got to the series again , and finally in 1984 local markets were allowed. there is audio of him and the rest of the radio doing the 80 series but they werent aired live

Harry Kalas was a Legend.
How great it was that is last season announcing for the Phillies ended with the Word Series coming back to Broad Street.
Even as a Met fan, I was shocked to hear about his death. He'll be missed not only be Phillie fans, but baseball fans.

Harry is the definition of the term, "class act".
He adores Phillies "phans" and is very accessible to them.
He even answers all of his fan mail, sometimes even hand-written!
That's why a Harry Kalas autograph is probably worth very little - they are very common and easy to get.
He also still openly grieves over the loss of his best friend (whom I honor with my screen name), 11-1/2 years after "Whitey" left us.
It will be a sad day in Philly when Harry retires or passes away. :'(
