  • I love the location for this movie, very pretty

  • Some earlier posters referred to the film being shot in a national park. It was not. There is no national park in Idaho except for a small slice of Yellowstone. It was probably on National Forest land. Much different than a national park.

  • Idahoes beautiful....only been there once but i love the midwest area

  • That is awesome, I've always loved that movie and setting.

  • Was the old frontier town still there? Your location shots were right on.

That's the Pale Rider scenes alright, from central Idaho. It was shot in a National Park.

  • Just IMDB Pale Rider. It'll credit the location(s)

  • this movie was really good, Stockburn and his deputies would put brown stains in my shorts back then

  • is that not filmed in alberta, canada

  • @irishbrigade08 You're probably thinking of Unforgiven.

  • it was very cold when we shot there (late October), snow falling at times.

Surtees had those beautiful mtns at every angle.

I think since it's part of a national park, it all had to be dismantled, as if we had never been there.

  • How exactly would I find this spot using google earth? Im good with the program, what street or landmark should i follow up the highway? I was born in sun valley so im going to visit and want to see some cool stuff.

  • Pale Rider was shot in central Idaho, my dad Keith Dillin worked on and also stared in Pale Rider he was the blacksmith that runs away when Clint comes to town.

  • Im gonna guess thats either Montana, or Wyoming. Looks like Glacier National Park, Yellowstone NP, or Grand Teton.

  • That was neat; I liked the way you started your video with the view from the movie, seeing those mountains in the distance.

  • So is there anything left of the town?

  • There are a few scattered boards and a nail that I found, but that's it. There's been 25 years to pick the place clean, although I doubt most people using the "road" that goes through the site even know it was a film set.

  • Got this info, but take it for what you will:

"somebody told me that when the movie crew came back to tear down the set as required, one of the adjoining landowners caught wind of this, went ahead and disassembled one or two of the bad guys cabins, and then reassembled them later, on his mining claim at the edge of the neighboring woods. As legend has it, the crew saw that the outbuilding/s had disappeared; shrugged their shoulders and went off back to enjoy the friendly K-town atmosphere."
