@goth00man gibts in Deutschland soweit ich weiss nicht (jedenfalls nur mit recht laschen Hörnern), aber in einigen Ländern Europas gibts die Hörner, bzw. sehr ähnliche Hörner, schon.
@goth00man naja viel ist seeehr relativ: gibt/gab wail in Erfurt, derzeit in Weimar, dann das eine LF wo dies aus Spaß drauf getan haben und paar alte DDR-Fahrzeuge. Dazu sind die deutschen wail/yelp und Bullhörner noch etwas schwach auf der Brust;
you are completely right. the german trucks are very small and the sirene sounds.....funny^^
i am from germany, but i saw an american "firetruck" (is it right?) in cape coral, florida. The only thing i can say.....absolutly awesome. Very big...and very loud.
@Woody083 yes the average german engine is smaller than the US, but they fit perfectly on our streets; a US truck just wouldn't fit through the sometimes very narrow streets. By having smaller trucks it's also easier to maneuver them through traffic. And yeah the sirens are very different; most big engines here have air pressured sirens, other countries like Norway use a siren similar to the american ones. But all in all both trucks do their job ^^
Heibha, why would they were helmets in the fire engine??? we dont do that here, and respirators?? why would they were them, they are driving TO the call.

When i was in SF that spring it seemed like most of the fire engine who race through the city with siren on are only there to entertain tourists. i mean the crew sat relaxed in the cab WITH T SHIRTS ON. no helmets no respirators.
Anyway: i love american fire engine siren! Anyone knows where to get that sound as an MP3??
Can anyone tell me how I could get one of those cool sounding intersection horns ? I'd like to put it in my Volkswagen Beetle....there must be a way to get it although it might be illegal.
It probably is illegal. I used to have a two-trumpet air horn (typically used on trash trucks, tank trucks, etc.) on my old Ford Bronco II that was very loud. I had to take it off because every time I wanted to use it there was ALWAYS some decrepid 90+ year-old hag standing right there that I knew would die of a heart attack if I dare touched the horn button. But try E-bay or maybe Grover's own web site. They should be the 21" trumpet.
Funny you mention that. In Philadelphia, they recently retired a fleet of about a dozen Seagrave Invader (military-style square cab) pumps that had only a Federal Q siren with NOTHING else. No air horn, no electronic siren; just a Q. And they got through traffic just as well as anything that sounded like a whole parade!! I miss them.

The FD's do more than just fire fighting these days, like medical calls? For those call you dont need the complete fire fightinggear.

I have been to Italy and Germany.
I personally like the Feurwehr's MARTINS-HORN better.
The Italian siren is just outright annoying- no offense to any italians- but they really need better sirens.

They should be Grover 21" Emergency horns. The "typical" Grover Emergency horn is 24 1/2" long.

Hi there....
do you know, where I could buy that horn online and how much it would probably cost ?
Is it illegal to put it into a privatly owned car ??

I like those horns on that truck. What's odd is that only Pierce and ALF use those particular horns.

yeah, some departments here have 2 sirens and an airhorn going like crazy.

I said that we Germans can get through the traffic without bullhorn but it is a great video.
