  • Hi, I'm from Ireland and in a few weeks I'm travelling to Davao to work with the poorer children in the schools? Can anyone tell me if it is a particularly dangerous place to be for a Western male? I'm just curious, if so - what should I watch out for? Thanks alot. (Also, do you think that alot of people will never have seen red hair before, and would they hate it like the africans do?) Thanks again.

  • Davao City is the safest city in the whole Mindanao. I can guarantee that, djbyrne. Davao's downtown or City Centre is the safest place to be for a law-abiding person. The City and its local government is zero-tolerance for thievery, kidnapping, drug-trafficking,kidnapping,etc. Outskirts such as the far-flung districts of Davao City, such as Calinan, Mandug, Bunawan,etc..it's already 60-40.

  • Filipinos love Westerners, especially Davaoenos. It's an instinct for us Filipinos to be hospitable. Filipinos seen different hair colour a lot of times because lots of such persons have already been to Davao. They would surely identify you as tourist, foreign missionary, priest/nun, or fiancee. Enjoy your stay in Davao.Surely you will have a grand time.
